Stayed here in May for 1 week with various family members visiting from the UK at different times during the week. Loads of room for everyone and handy for Shannon airport (less than an hour). Lovely cottage, very clean and well equipped with everything you need. Great kitchen, big fireplace (fuel supplied), plenty of hot water and comfortable beds. I only have one quibble: one of the beds had a nylon duvet cover and pillow cases which were really uncomfortable. As it happened we were not full up so we were able to avoid that particular bed! Apart from this everything was really great.
Quiet and peaceful, there were sheep strolling past the back window and a friendly old sheepdog with impeccable manners made brief visits from next door where the owner lives (the owner was not in the least intrusive, didn't see him the entire week as he was busy with his farm I expect - but he was there if you needed him). The donkey in the field made his presence known from time to time - especially if he thought there was a carrot or an apple to be had. Yet this charming house is only a few mins walk to the beautiful little village of Kinvara where you will find everything - shops, restaurants and pubs (check out Greens pub which has been going strong for about 150 years and had a great trad session one of the nights we were there). The village is no longer a working fishing village but it has a lovely waterfront walk to Dunguaire Castle which is a restored tower house well worth visiting. The house is an ideal base for Galway, the Burren, Coole Park (this is Yeats country) and of course the incomparable Aran Islands. We also toured Connemara. I would absolutely recommend this house and I think it would be very suitable for families with children.
