Area The village of Embleton can be traced back to beyond medieval times and during the Wars of the Roses, it suffered much from the ravages of Scottish invaders. Today, ancient castles and ruins stand testament to Embleton's turbulent past; the Church of Holy Trinity is a late-Norman church, dating from the 12th century, later to be restored in Victorian times. Viewed from the sea, the undulating whinstone ridge that shelters much of the village from east winds, resembles a caterpillar, hence the old name 'Emeldune', meaning the hill of the caterpillar. The rolling countryside means that golfers can enjoy a good 18-hole links golf course that overlooks the beautiful Embleton Bay. Recently launched is the Embleton Heritage Trails Project, consisting of six trails, ranging from a short walk around the village, to a longer six mile route, following the spectacular coastline and inland into the tranquil countryside.
Region Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Good cottage but the experience felt a bit clinical rather than homely and lacks animals that you might expect on a holiday farm..

Perfect cottage For our family of four on this quiet collection of holiday homes. Homestead overlooked the children’s climbing frame so ideal and handy spot to watch our kids feed the friendly ducks. Access to the beach possible by foot but not something we managed and found it easier to drive the two minutes to Embleton and park at golf club.
The on site pool and daily private hour per property was an amazing bonus. It’s a fantastic well maintained facility.
The cottage itself was equipped with everything we could have needed for the week and immaculate throughout.
Thank you, we’ll be back!

Home Stead cottage is a very spacious, comfortable and well equipped place to stay.. All the information about the area and places to visit are provided with lovely views across the farmed fields to Embleton bay inc a sea view. Ideal for walkers who like gentle walks. There are facilities for children in the play area and use of the indoor heated swimming pool which is available on a rota basis for the several cottages on the complex. Embleton is very central to all the places of interest inc all the popular castles and places to eat. Our first visit to Northumberland was not disappointing and we will probably return in the future.

Sad that the swimming pool was not finished, but did not detract from the holiday, as we are from northeast and knew the area..

It was in a great location but we were a little disappointed how far away the beach was.. I presumed it was nearer because the brochure said a stroll down a gentle sloping path .we are all pensioners so I suppose a younger person would get there quicker.we didn't make it to the beach after walking for about 30 mins. overall though it was a beautiful place within easy reach of the village.

This complex of accommodations is well situated for a large area of different attractions.. Main concern was the fact that " dip in the newly built swimming pool" was advertised. It did not say it was still being built and the work was going on just outside your cottage, so don't take your swim wear folks. The bedrooms could have used more cloths drawer space and the Kingsize bed mattress was very soft, thin and noisy. They also need to look at what they are paying their "cleaning team" to do, changing beds and towels is not cleaning the cobwebs and dust accumulation.
Having said all that, Northhumberland is great, extra woolly necessary but fantastic location.

Building work was being carried out right in front of property, we were woken .... Building work was being carried out right in front of property, we were woken up between 7 and 8 most mornings, would have appreciated being warned regarding this and would have booked a hot tub cottage instead

Comfortable cottage with good facilities.. Could have done with a shelf in the bathrooms and bedrooms had very limited storage so unpacking wasn't a good option.

The cottage is in a perfect location for coastal walking.. You can set off directly from the cottage to the beach and pick up the coastal path for both north and south routes. The signage and pathways from the cottage are fantastic.
The facilities and cleanliness of the cottage are first class.

We found it very comfortable and absolutely loved it.. The views were great, Usually come to Northumberland twice a year including New Year, but at the moment unable to find anywhere, 8 people including a dog. This year I think the gates to Northumberland opened, as I have never seen so many people in September, plus the weather was gorgeous. Definitely recommend Homestead Cottage.

An absolutely fantastic cottage - certainly the nicest we've ever stayed in - in an idyllic location.. Only (very minor) quibble was that the beds could have been a little more comfortable.

A superb find - a lovely cottage and great setting surrounded by open fields, sea view and duck pond with lots of babies! It was very central to visit many places and it was easy to walk to the beach. We fell in love with Northumberland and will go back for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was very comfortable and the views were amazing. We could not have wished for more. We loved the wood burning stove and made the most of it during our stay! It was very peaceful and we enjoyed the walk down to the beach. We will certainly recommend the cottage to our friends.
