From the moment we drove up to the gates, we were overwhelmed by the stunning landscape.. As we went down the drive we were greeted by the animals it was fantastic. We entered the cottage and greeted by complimentary Prosecco, Chocolate, milk, eggs, and dog treats. The cottage was spotless and very homely. Our hosts were lovely and nothing was to much trouble, albeit we needed nothing. Will definitely go back again thank you

Norah's Nook was a fantastic base for our holiday.. It had everything we needed to make our stay most enjoyable. All the little added extras left for us by the owner were very much appreciated. This property deserves a twelve out of ten!!

I have stayed at many cottages over the years and this one was by far the best I've stayed in.. The location was gorgeous and the cottage was very comfortable. The owner was very helpful, ( we had car trouble) friendly and accommodating. There was everything we needed including a bottle of prosecco and handmade chocolate on our arrival. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. Five stars and more!!!

Lovely cottage, really cosy at night time with the log fire on.. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. Owners had left some arrival treats that were very welcome and brought the Alpacas for our little girl to meet on our arrival and gave us plenty of food to feed them throughout our stay. Everything really well thought out. Had an issue on the last night as the gas ran out and Sarita resolved swiftly and even brought some chocolate round for our little girl. Lovely stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book again when next in the area

If you want to get away from the mad world, this is the place. Ideally situated on the edge of the moors, you can literally do as little or as much as you want to. The cottage is very well equipped and there are always a few extra treats waiting for you, just to make sure you feel at home and making the perfect start to your time away. This is our fourth time here and back again in July. Another reason we keep coming back is how animal friendly the cottage is, we either come with our dogs or my horse. The paddocks and stables are second to none too. Thanks again and see you soon

We received a very warm welcome.. The owner has left us eggs, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee and sugar as well as a bottle of sparkling wine. Nora's Nook was better than we expected especially the free range chickens (and eggs) the horses and the alpacas. We have hired many of Sykes Cottages over the years but this one is the best yet. As we are getting too old to make long journeys, Nora's Nook was our swansong and it couldnt have been better. Thank you.

A beautiful retreat, complete with relaxing surrounding countryside, and a castle town up the road! Hosts are lovely, made our stay utterly chilled, fully recommend this amazing cottage!

Sarita and Dave were friendly and helpful without being intrusive.. Sarita provided extras like crackers, Prosecco, chocolates and cookies. As well as tea, coffee, milk and fresh farm eggs. Everything was good quality and not cheap. The cottage was tastefully decorated for Christmas without being over the top especially as we were escaping all the Christmas hustle and fuss. The cottage was well positioned for getting out and about the area. Animals are welcomed as long as they are well behaved, Helmsley was very picturesque and well worth a visit, expensive parking though. Pickering was lovely too. Would love to visit the cottage again and would highly recommend it as a place to get away from it all.

My wife and I stayed at Nora's Nook for a week at the start of August.. Like others, we were pleased to find the complementary goodies (chocolates, milk, farm eggs, etc) as well as some treats for the dog. That was a nice touch. The accommodation was perfect for us, providing everything we needed apart from food, and we felt at home immediately. The owners were friendly without ever being intrusive. They even let our dog play with one of their's on the final evening. The location itself was great for exploring the North York Moors and its adjacent areas, but was set well away from the road and was quiet, perfect for relaxation and for those looking for a quiet break away from the humdrum of everyday ife. It's located on a working farm, so lots of animals and wildlife, with chickens and sheep roaming free. The dog loved them! A truly excellent holiday. Highly recommended. 5 stars out of 5 (at least).

I came here last year with my horse, it was that good I couldn't wait to stay again with my husband and dogs. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. I can't recommend this place enough, fantastic cottages but more importantly we were made to feel welcome and you cant put a price on that. My husband absolutely loved our break and I am already booked in again in May with my horse. Thank you so much

Norah's Nook was clean, cosy and comfortable.. Over the years we've stayed in many self catering cottages and this is one of the best equipped. We found everything we needed in the cottage so we only needed clothes and food which makes things so much easier than rattling up the A1 with washing up liquid, toilet rolls and tin foil. We had dreadful weather but were warm with the heating on and enjoyed the log burner. Despite the weather there was plenty to keep us occupied and we found suitable walks, saw and heard lots of wildlife, though we would love to be there in the sunshine, make use of the sun beds and do the walks from the door. We enjoyed the hospitality, generosity and kindness of the owners and would love to return. This area is truly beautiful, full of history, stories, and excellent tea shops! The Easter weather this year certainly hasn't put us off. Oh, and the fresh farm eggs are absolutely delicious!

Norah's Nook is a very relaxing, quiet and comfortable cottage in the countryside it is a great place to not be disturbed. Plenty of good pubs and meals within a few miles by car. Couldn't do with anything else. Based on a small 'farm' but no noisy animals with a friendly and helpful owner on site.

We have just returned after a fabulous week here . This is probably our 6th or 7th visit and it suits us perfectly. Dave and Serita are great hosts who just carry on in the background but are always on hand to recommend a Pub for lunch or to find out what's on in the vicinity. Can't recommend this place enough.

March 2016
Norah's Nook is very attractive and is in a really pretty peaceful location. It has absolutely everything you need for a happy holiday, the owner has given a lot of thought into making sure you enjoy your stay, they obviously care a lot!. The weather was very cold so it was nice to have a log fire and the heating on in the evening, we were lovely and cosy! It must be lovely in warm weather to sunbathe in the courtyard, we will be back to try it for ourselves.

We chose this cottage because it was recommended by friends. We were not disappointed! The drive to Norah's Nook takes you through classic Yorkshire countryside. The cottage is well appointed , clean and warm ( provided by the wood burner in the corner) and is located on a working farm which adds to the feeling of getting away from it all ! A perfect location for walking and really looking forward to coming back. Well worth a visit.

March 2015
The property is very well done out with high quality modern décor and has everything you need. The owners were extremely helpful and recommended walks and pubs to visit. Whilst in a rural area, it is only a couple of minutes from several villages, and has easy access to the main roads running to Scarborough/Thirsk. Also easy access to roads within the moors. Doggy friendly too!

My husband and I stayed here with our little dog in August and had a wonderful time. We were greeted by the owner on arrival, and found a welcome pack indoors, which included a local paper, milk and other essentials. The owner was very welcoming, told us everything we needed to know about the cottage and helped us with our suggested holiday itinerary - good places to eat, walks across the moors from our doorstep and other handy hints. The cottage is pretty outside, well decorated, very comfortable and clean, and the weather enabled us to make use of the two very comfy sun loungers on the patio outside! The cottage is well located for eating and drinking pubs with lots of pretty villages and towns nearby, such as Helmsley and Hutton le Hole. We really enjoyed our holiday and will definitely be back, thank you for sharing this little piece of paradise.
