It would be nice to have a shoe or boot rack in hallway and mat to clean .... It would be nice to have a shoe or boot rack in hallway and mat to clean footwear on to prevent bringing it inside rest of house

Very pleasant cottage in quiet location with good outlook & excellent amenities around, particularly the nearby woods for dog walking, but also well sited for touring the area.. York Park & Ride 5mins away. Cottage is very well appointed with good quality furnishings only slight criticism was the comfort of the double bed, perhaps because I do not like beds with a footboard, being tall. Owners very helpful & obliging. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay here with daughter & son in law.

Enjoyed a lovely week - our 4th break here.. Great location for York and neighbouring tourist attractions. The accommodation is excellent with everything one would normally need. Well maintained, warm and quiet. Sunday lunch in The Club bar is excellent - a must really. Hope to be back again soon.

Really enjoyed our stay.. The cottage was much nicer than the pictures suggest. Clean. Warm. Comfy sofas. Comfy beds. Had all the amenities we needed. The area is lovely and quiet. Easy to park outside. The description failed to mention that the golf course clubhouse on site offers a Sunday carvery which was a pleasant surprise! There is a pub in nearby Wheldrake that serves food (5 minutes by car). The park and ride for York is just 5 minutes away too so it was perfect for York sightseeing. A great short stay, the girls loved it so much they want to go back and we most likely will in the future.

The cottage had everything you could ask for when you book a week away celebrating our Pearl Wedding Anniversary, to relax, catch up with friends and play a game of two of golf.. The welcoming pack was a lovely idea, as was everything else made available to us during our stay. a big thank you to Melissa and her family they all made you feel so welcome. The cottage totally exceeded our expectations, really nice furniture and fittings and lovely and warm inside as the weather for our week was dry and sunny it was still very cold outside. we spent hours watching the family of squirrels leaping from branch to branch along the trees in front of the cottage as well as all the little robins, wrens, and doves feeding from the bird stand. The pictures of the cottage do not do it justice as the views across the golf course first thing in the morning when everything is covered with the early morning mist and then late in the evening when the winter sun was setting the scene's were purely idyllic. The city of York is only a short distance away as is the designer centre and Monks cross all great places for shopping. We will definitely be returning and hope to get in a few more rounds of golf than we did.

The cottage was extremely clean and welcoming.. A very peaceful setting able to listen to the wild birds singing in a morning as well as watching the squirrels jumping from tree to tree. with forest commission land alongside great for walking our dog. Ideal for visiting York and the surrounding area. For the shoppers there are plenty of retail parks. We would certainly book the Granary again.Melissa and her staff were always on hand if you needed them.A great break in York for me and my wife and dog Willow

We absolutely loved our stay in this cottage.. It is really a home from home with very nice furniture and fittings. We stayed over Christmas and the owners had decorated the house with a Christmas tree and silver sparkly reindeers! Essentials like tea and coffee etc had been left for our use. All really super. The place is very quiet and great for access to York. Park and ride is only 5/10 mins away at the Designer Centre. We would definitely stay there again. The only extra things we would have liked would be a dishwasher and a larger fridge. Otherwise really fab!

A really lovely cottage, very clean and well maintained.. In a great setting by the golf course, the pictures didn’t really do it justice. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

I was delighted with the accommodation - it met (rather than exceeded) my expectations only because I have come to expect very high standards from Sykes.. The accommodation was as advertised - spacious, clean, well furnished, warm and generally well equipped. The kitchen could have been better equipped in relation to cooking utensils but it in no way spoiled the holiday. The setting (in the grounds of a golf club) was wonderful and also meant that it was a very peaceful and relaxing environment. I would have no hesitation in returning or recommending it to friends.

Right from the start of booking the Granary everything went extremely smoothly.. The cottage was extremely clean and welcoming. All the decor was high end and nothing spared down to welcoming pack of teabags/milk and even chocolate muffins for the 4 of us.We would certainly book the Granary or one of the 7 cottages on this beautiful golf course setting.Melissa and her staff were always on hand if you needed them.A great break in York for me and my family and dog!!!

My family and I (a total 4 adults) have just returned from a 4 night stay at 'The Granary' and cannot recommend it highly enough! The property appeared to be brand new and was immaculately presented both inside and out. All the fixtures and fittings were all 'high end' and much better than those normally found in rental properties. All rooms were very large and there was ample storage space for our needs. The Granary is in a very quite location but is only a 10 minute drive to the centre of York and just 5 minutes to the Mcarthur Glen outlet village where you can 'Park and Ride' into York. We have no hesitation in recommending this property and will certainly try to book it next time we visit York.

A very nice welcome pack on arrival.. The accommodation was warm with everything one would want. Very tasteful decor. Enjoyed excellent meal in clubhouse at Sunday lunch. Great location for York and surrounding area with Park & Ride facilities for York just a short drive away. Lovely approach, well maintained grounds and golf course. Have stayed here previously and hope to return soon. We love the situ - thank you Melissa, Jonathan and Mr ( John) and Mrs Scrutt sen. Thanks also to the staff in Clubhouse.

We had a brilliant week at The Granary.. It is perfectly located for trips into York and many surrounding attractions. The cottage had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable and warm given the time of year we stayed. We would highly recommend this cottage as a place to stay and enjoy a holiday in and around York.

Clean well maintained cottage

October 2018
Very pleasant cottage, convenient location.. Bedside table in the twin room would have been helpful. There was a lamp, but it sat on the window ledge, and was therefore behind the curtain at night. It would have been helpful to have a draining rack at the kitchen sink. The postcode took one to the Farm, rather than showing that the house was adjacent to the golf club - this could be clarified on the website. It would help to give the Ordnance Survey grid reference, as this is more precise. A a general comment, with USB charging being so necessary, it might be sensible to encourage cottage owners to fit sockets that have USB charging included.

April 2018
The Granary, is wonderful, very clean and homely.. We were met at the golf club, club house, by Mellisa mother in law, Chris, a jovial person who was most welcoming, a jovial lady, which really kick started our stay, from the beginning. We will definitely return to the Granary. Our two dogs really enjoyed their stay, lovely walks for them, into the forest, and near the golf course. Our thanks to Mellisa, for keeping the Granary to a high standard.

March 2018
Lighting in bedrooms inadequate for inveterate readers in bed like all four members of our party.. Bath/shower difficult to get in and out of for elderly and slightly disabled people - hand rails would help. And impossible to prevent spraying all over the floor when taking a shower. Hot water supply to taps in washbasin and kitchen sink poor. But these are comparatively minor quibbles - overall, comfortable, modern, clean, good facilitities and equipment, and we were given a warm welcome.
Mrs Wheeler

Lovely peaceful and beautiful location.. Clubhouse on site did superb Sunday lunch. Very handy for York.

October 2015
The Granary is a very comfortable place to stay. Everything is of good quality. It is extremely quiet and there is a lovely walk through Forestry Commission woods nearby. It is only a short drive to the nearest Park and Ride into York. We had stayed here many years ago which was good then. However it has been brought up to today's standards.
Mrs Wilcock
June 2015
Excellent accommodation, site and location. A very rural area away from traffic. The ideal location to visit many places of interest within easy travelling distance. It rates as a place for a return visit.

February 2015
One of the best cottages I have stayed in, it was really lovely. The milk and the cream cake was a very lovely gesture. And the owner was so understanding when we told her we had lost the keys (found them again!). Thank you it was great.

This cottage is set on a golf course which is very picturesque and quiet. The owners are the most friendly people you could wish to meet, they were very helpful and obliging. The cottage was equipped to a very high standard, and tastefully decorated. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and would return in the future.

August 2014
The restful setting of the accommodation but with easy access to major roads. Park and ride for York was within a 10 minute drive. The furnishing of the cottage had been well thought out tasteful and the owners were friendly and helpful. Also, the welcome pack was very nice and a surprise. If we travel to that area again we would certainly try to book The Granary.
Mrs Gauld
July 2014
The ambiance of the whole complex was great. The property was very near to York and therefore the roads networks were close by for our day trips. We had a dog with us and there were plenty of places to take him round the complex. We asked for a black bag for dog waste bags and this was provided no problem. We have recommended this cottage to our friends and family.
Mr Askey
June 2014
Great bungalow in a nice quiet location. The walks around the golf course in the early evening were particularly pleasant. The house is very handily situated for access to York too.
Mr Bowman
April 2014
