Area Porthleven is one of south west Cornwall’s hidden, coastal gems, located near Helston, famous for its annual Flora Dance Festival. Situated between Lizard Point and Land’s End, Porthleven faces directly into the Atlantic Ocean, giving it a more raw and rugged feel than a lot of the more sheltered harbours along the Cornish coast. The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity. With a warren of streets lined with classic Cornish, granite cottages, a beach manned with lifeguards, the chance for alfresco dining and crabbing off the harbour, there are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy in Porthleven, all year round. Out of season, Porthleven has one of the best surf breaks in the country where you can sit down and get lost for hours watching the energetic surfers riding the waves. There are some fabulous hidden coves along this stretch of coastline, including Praa Sands, Poldu Cove, and Rinsey, a magical setting accessed down a steep cliff path. You may have even seen pictures of Porthleven on television, being one of the best spots in the UK for storm watching, with the crashing waves often being used as the backdrop to weather forecasts. Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path, adventuring west past Rinsey Head, or south across Loe Bar, and on to Church Cove. Take a trip to the Isles of Scilly by boat or plane, and marvel at the display of sub-tropical gardens at the stunning Tresco Abbey. Porthleven is the ideal base for discovering the delights of west Cornwall and the Lizard Peninsula.
Region Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.

Very close to all you need shops, places to eat and drink.. Off road parking a bonus would rebook this cottage.

The house inside was great, it had everything that we needed for a comfortable holiday.. We felt the outside area was let down. The back yard had a table and chairs but was surrounded on 3 sides with high grey walls, there was no plants or anything to brighten it up at all and it just felt very unloved and had zero wow factor

The location is the main plus with this house, within a few minutes walk you can be at Porthleven Harbour, there is not a huge number of shops, but plenty of places to eat and drink.. A short car drive is Penzance and our favourite Falmouth.
The property is well equipped, and looks to have recently been refurbished, however there were a few minor jobs that need to be addressed, also we thought some net curtains would have been a nice touch.
All in all a property in a good location well equipped, by the sea.

Lovely little house in a very convenient location.. The double mattress in the master bedroom is very basic though, a decent new mattress would be a worthwhile addition. Other than that, it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The cottage is lovely.. .. spotlessly clean, well stocked, warm and in a fabulous location. The off street parking is a real advantage in Porthleven too! We will definitely return!

This is our second visit to Kernow and we will be back again next year.. It is perfect for us. Everything is of a high standard; very comfortable with the added bonus of a parking space which is at a premium in Porthleven. It is spotless and there are plenty of pots, pans and crockery.
It is perfectly situated; quiet but a two minute walk from the harbour area.
All in all a home from home.

House located in very quiet location near to Porthleven harbour and all amenities.. The neighbours were friendly and said hello. Well equipped and comfortable house. House was warm and there was plenty of hot water. However, the kitchen could do with another large lidded saucepan, a large lidded saute/wok pan and some slotted plastic spoons.
Cleanliness - Surfaces were dusty. All mirrors smeared. Fridge needed a wipe inside. Mould inside plastic rim of washing machine. It was stated in note from owners that non-recyclable bin bags were provided under the sink - but there were none. We had bought our own cleaning supplies etc, so we left a few of our own bags for the next visitors. On the Tuesday evening a kind neighbour put out the black waste bin (normally stored in storage container in front of house) in which we put our black sack of non-recyclable waste.
Despite the slight let-down with the cleanliness issues, we would stay there again.

Kernow Cottage was clean, tidy, nicely furnished and had everything that you could need - a real home from home (it's the second time we have stayed there).. Whilst we were staying there was some very unusual weather and we got snowed in. We also had a bit of a medical emergency. The owners of the cottage were extremely accommodating and helpful, contacting us to inform us that we were welcome to stay as long as we needed until it was safe for us to travel home at no further cost to ourselves. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and understanding.

All the amenities that you will need in a perfect setting. Clean and easy to find. Plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants to choose from on your door step. With parking for most an issue in the village it is very helpful to have a gated parking space. Very helpful caretaker for all your needs. Would highly recommend a stay here for a small family.

A nice clean property.. Modern but without much character. We found the furniture and bed very uncomfortable.
The TV and Digibox are old and fiddly and should be upgraded.

Kernow Cottage is the perfect place for us. Quiet but close to shops, restaurants, pubs and the harbour.
This was our 3rd trip to Porthleven, which we love, and we have finally found the place to come back to.
Everything we needed was there, comfortable bed, good shower, more crockery and glassware than we needed. Lovely sofas and all beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean.
We will definitely be back next year!

Lovely well equipped cottage in a lovely harbour location.
Clean..tidy..homely..all you need for a great getaway.
If l have any negatives it would be that l felt the timing on arrival...4pm and departure 10am felt slightly short of a 7 day holiday..
Strongly recommend..
