nice quiet location ,lovely views . 1st floor flat, steep stairs. ecletic mix of styles. very small kitchen & bathroom. sink difficult to wash up in due to it's corner location. shortage of ovenware to cook in. could do with jug to fill kettle, gravy jug, pizza tray etc. does allow dogs, was a bit sensitive about sheepskin rugs on chairs & hygiene ! no visitors book ? A bit tired could do with some decoration.

Nice get away in peaceful rural countryside, beautiful views. Not too far to travel into Bath and explore the city with many attractions. The owner of Hillside cottage was lovely greeting us with cake at arriving to Hillside Cottage.

The Cottage was amazing for its size.. It had everything that you could possibly want whilst staying in it. The owner was lovely and we even had a welcome pack on arrival, of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and a lovely bottle of wine, which we didn’t expect. It was most welcome.

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location.. Several walks are possible from the doorstep, maps provided. We had a lovely week. The owner Ruth was very helpful. She generously provided some goodies in the fridge to greet our arrival. She also came to the rescue when we got in a fight with the can opener during the week! Thank you.

Lovely little flat on a hill, on the edge of a nice village Peasedown and beautiful Hamlet Carlingcot.. The flat has everything you need if you are a couple wanting to walk in the local area. Beautiful walks! Stunning views! We have an 8 month baby and have had a lovely time. Travel cot fitted in the lounge and a bumbo on the kitchen table when we ate. You couldn’t fit a high chair and two people eating, the garden is lovely all though on a slope. Bathroom is small but the double shower is great, I could have my baby in there as I showered, which is very useful! Stunning views and the sun hits the garden perfectly. Only down side is the TVs randomly loose signal at times but not for long. Glastonbury, wells, beaches north and south all about an hour and less than two, away. Locals are really friendly and all say hello. There’s no reviews recently for some reason, that I do not know Why but This flat is lovely and great for a couple (And a dog) wanting to go on local walks or Local attractions.

The accomodation was exactly as described.. It was a fantastic place to stay. Everything we needed was there. Ruth the owner was really helpful and met us as we arrived and explained everything we needed to know. The views from the living room and the bedroom were fantastic. We stayed in the winter and the whole house house was really cozy. It is ideally suited for those wishing to explore Somerset and Wiltshire. The Georgian city of Bath is a must and is only 20 minutes away.

Hillside was conveniently positioned to visit family and also visit Bath.. The apartment was warm, comfortable and clean. The host Ruth had thought of everything to tie us over with tea bags, coffee, milk and cereal. A really nice touch. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with utensils. The washer/dryer was an added bonus because the weather was awful. Having a dishwasher was brilliant too because who wants to wash up when your on holiday.

Cottage apartment was small but had everything you needed.. It was well furnished with a comfortable bed. It was up some steep stairs but this wasn't a problem for us. We carried our little Jack Russell up as she couldn't do the stairs. We would definitely like to book again in the future.

Lovely comfortable cottage with all the amenities and in a great location.. If you are interested in walking the Bath Skyline walk is a must, great views over the city. We particularly booked this location as we wanted to complete the last 20 mile section of the Kennet and Avon canal path to Bath, after each 10 mile we were able to get the train back to Bradford on Avon where we had parked our car. The trains are every hour. Bradford on Avon is very quaint and has lots of places to eat, would recommend the B.O.A. Teapot on Silver Street, the sandwiches and cream teas are a must. All in all a great week.

We had a lovely stay at Hillside cottage.. The views are beautiful, the flat itself was clean and comfortable and the owner was great. Everything we needed to feel at home was provided and it was a great base for visiting Bath and the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend! The owner provides a big welcome book with information on where to visit which was great! However i don’t think it includes Lacock Abbey/Village. About 40mins drive and it was really worth a visit!

We enjoyed staying in this flat.. The views were great and there are some nice walks from the door. Close proximity and easy access to Bath and it was nice to get back to the quiet and peaceful location after days out. Ruth is a great host. Attention to detail in the flat was good with a very good and welcome ‘welcome pack’. Would definitely stay here again.

The villages is only a short walk away, I would go to the Red Post much better than the other.. Fish and chips were very good. Plenty of local shops and good bus service. Book your ticket on your phone it is cheaper.

Great views - but that means there's lots of steep hills involved and the cottage is on one! But a very accommodating hostess who could in all fairness do little about the few niggles: an intermittent shower,an impossible sink (for washing up - but there is a dishwasher), temperamental wi-fi, the dog that chose one day to keep barking and someone knocking on our door late one night! We stayed a week and enjoyed the walks (and the views!) Good value - thank-you.

Charming cottage with fantastic views.. Lovely owner nearby, so very handy for local info. Super location, very quiet, yet Bath just a short drive.

As you approach Peasewood St John follow the cottage owners directions and not the satnav.. The distance is slightly longer but the route is easier than getting caught up in very narrow country lanes especially in the dark or at the end of a tiring journey. Cottage is located on a steep narrow hill so walkers be warned the traffic comes fast not much wriggle room to get out of the way, the same with actually driving & cycling as well. Cottage itself was very pleasant with wonderful country views including chickens in the garden not that they moved much! We had a great week cycling around, up & down Bath, Bristol & Devizes

This lovely cottage is in a perfect location for a relaxing break. The views are wonderful and sitting in the garden to enjoy the sunsets was a highlight of the holiday. In the cottage we had everything we needed. There was access to country walks and to the main towns by bus. It was so good that we did not bother with the car at all.

This cottage is absolutely perfect with every facility. Ruth who lives on the floor below via back door is an absolute treasure ensuring that any problems are immediately solved. The flat consists of a double bed room with silk covers over a downie. A large cupboard with a pull-down hanger, clean toilet and large shower room, very hot water. Lounge with two vibration chairs, variable angle TV and comfortable couch. Controlled dimmer lighting. Kitchen is immaculate. with all mod-cons. Only problem is that it is at bottom of steep hill so car is desirable but otherwise it is a 30 minute walk to croquet or cricket club via recreation park.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The flat has wonderful views over a valley , is very nicely furnished and a garden to sit out in . It is in a quiet location but only less than 5 min drive from village shops . We would definitely stay again . Everything about the place was good no negatives at all.

April 2013
We stayed in Hillside during a particularly cold week and it was tremendous to come back in each day to such a wonderfully cosy house. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the large shower was really good. The location was great for exploring the area and getting into Bath via the Park and Ride was very easy. The view from the living room over the valley was superb.

We loved our stay here and it was everything that was described. Our landlord was just fantastic and accomodated us just great seeing as we got here really late on our first night. The countryside was picturesque with rolling hills and wildlife everywhere. Close to everything in the area and apartment was well stocked with everything you need. Would recommend to anyone and would stay here again if we are ever in the UK again.

The Holiday accommodation was beautiful, very well equipped. The owner lives downstairs so is easy to reach if needed. A short distance away, Peasedown St John has many facilities and great roads to easily travel to Bath and the many great attractions in North east Somerset. We would recommend it unreservedly

One of the best holiday rentals we've stayed in. Beautifully decorated, toasty warm and very well equipped. The owner is lovely, very welcoming and the location is excellent for visiting Bath and Bristol. We would defiantly book again if when in the area. The parking is a bit difficult as the property is on a steep hill but this is forgotten as soon as you spot the view from the lounge window.

December 2012
The cottage was really superb, with a stunning view. The cottage is hidden away down a very small country lane but, in reality it is only 10 minutes away from one of the Bath Park and Ride sites (do not take your car into Bath!!). The kitchen in the cottage is not particularly large but the facilies provided are excellent. The cottage was exceptionally clean but still felt very "homely" & totally peaceful. The staircase is advertised as being steep but this is not as steep as I thought it would be & did not trouble myself or my wife. It is in an excellent location for touring Somerset and its adjoining counties.

Firstly, the owner was very flexible with my arrival time, considering I'd booked only that morning! It was raining and late when I arrived by car in the small village of Peasedown St John. I received a phonecall from the owner who helped me find the location - it was a bit tricky to find as my GPS couldn't locate it exactly. We established I'd gone a little too far down the lane and Ruth volunteered to come down in her car. She's so friendly and hospitable and I appreciated her coming to get me! I was ready for a retreat experience having traveled around for a few months, and that was exactly what I found. The place is cosy in size and with good heating; it has nice contemporary/farm decor with attractive little features; tv in the lounge and bedroom with a DVD player & a few movies, which I watched; a writing desk and awesome massage loungers! Loved the kitchen. I never used the dishwasher or freezer, but fridge and washer/dryer were perfect for my needs (and I had a lot of washing!). Powder was provided as was milk, tea and coffee. Great to have iron and ironing board too. Bed was oh-so-cosy. Sigh. Just remembering the snuggly bed... I loved that there was a wardrobe and drawers to put my stuff away in...even a jewellery box! The holland blind in the bedroom was a bit dickie as far as getting that up and down. I appreciated the automatic lighting in the bathroom, and all the provided towels. So the view. Early in the morning with a nice sunrise over the hills below, then sunset at night showed different colours in the landscape. I could easily have sat and looked at the view for a while each day. There are houses a little distance either side, so do be prepared to see someone...although only every now and then! I spent a fair bit of time traveling around the local countryside and used the cottage as a base. Ruth has a good welcome folder of local attractions, and has even written some good - and not so good - restaurants and pubs to go to. I found this quite handy having not known anything about the area. It's 40 minutes to most of the sites like Stonehenge and Salisbury cathedral. Also I visited Cirencester in an hour and Bath of course is only 20 mins away by car. There's a bus stop at the top of the lane on the main road and takes 5 minutes to walk down to the cottage, and I recommend using the bus as it can be a nuisance finding a carpark in Bath. I recommend going to the Fox and Badger in Wellow. It's not far from Peasedown - only 15-20 mins drive - and an old pub with character and a well traveled and friendly proprietor called Eric. Overall, an excellent stay and I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet getaway, not too far from most tourist sites.
