We stayed here for a week in January, and were very impressed with the accommodation. The cottage is convenient for the amenities in the town being a short walk away from the main street. The cottage includes some information leaflets about the old buildings in the town and suggested routes to visit them. It was within easy travelling distance of the south coast and Bath, etc. Both bedrooms have en-suites and we found the shower had plenty of hot water. The owners are very friendly and left us a bottle of wine and some daffodils, and came to see us on the day we arrived to make sure we were settled in OK. The week we were there was very cold, and overnight on the day before we left the snow came down and down and down. That morning the owner visited us at 8 am because she was really concerned about us getting home. She couldn't offer to let us stop in the cottage as it was already booked out by another guest, (she'd already rung them to check they were still coming) but she was more than happy for us to stay in her spare room. We felt this was above and beyond what any cottage owner should be expected to do, and was extremely kind of her. The cottage is on the A30, so we were aware of road noise when in the living room, although not in the back bedroom, so we had a good night's sleep. With the exceptionally bad weather we did find the open plan ground floor made it difficult to keep it warm, although we enjoyed sitting in front of the log burner. We didn't get a chance to use the patio furniture. We would recommend this accommodation.

The main A30 goes straight past the front door and can be very noisy at times, however, the Cottage is superb and upstairs the double glacing takes away most of the noise..

Victoria and Andrew were lovely hosts.. The property was roomy, comfortable and beautifully presented. The bedrooms were well appointed and, again, very comfortable. The property is very well located for shops and pubs. It is in a very good base for exploring NT properties, seaside towns and rural locations. I would recommend it.

Victoria made us feel very welcome upon arrival . Excellent holiday let. To be honest it instantly felt like home. Lovely log burning fire. Fully equipped kitchen. Large bedrooms with spacious walk in ensuite bathrooms. All completeed to the highest standard. Everything you need and more. The house is steeped in history and is set just two minute walk from the town. I would highly recommend this property. We where so disappointed we couldn't book for this new year but we will definitely be going back.

East wing is a splendid cottage with very kind and accommodating owners.. It was very clean and well equipped. Only concerns we had were that, due to the ground floor being open plan and with no door to stairs, it was difficult to keep the area at a comfortable temperature, although it is fair to add that we went in January during an extremely cold spell. As the house was directly on to the main road (A30), traffic noise was noticeable. It would have been nice to have a wardrobe in the rear bedroom

East Wing is lovely, comfortable and well equipped accommodation.. It has everything you need for a nice relaxing holiday. The only downside really is where it is situated which is on a very busy main road (A30) traffic backs up and queues right outside the front door. The owners are very friendly and attentive.

We had a wonderful holiday made especially so by the owners of East Wing who are very friendly and helpful.. The welcome gifts and fresh flowers on our arrival were a lovely touch, as were the chocolates they kindly gave my husband on his birthday. The property is so spacious and very well equipped. We loved sitting in front of the wood burner in the evenings. Crewkerne was a great location to explore the area from. We loved walking along the sea front at Lyme Regis. We also visited Bridport and West Bay as well as NT property Montacute House. The views from Ham Hill Country Park were amazing. Our favourite place was the South West Deer Rescue Centre near Crewkerne. We had a wonderful morning there feeding the deer carrots and digestive biscuits and learning all about them. It was a brilliant experience. To visit there you need to phone and book in advance. We’d happily stay here again.

This property is the best in quality we have visited, except for the road noise at the front of the house which affected the whole of the downstairs and the front bedroom.. Unfortunately nothing can be done to prevent this but it should be made clear in the online description to avoid disappointment.

Crewkerne is a lovely little market town, very convenient for visiting the Dorset coast and Somerset.. Unfortunately Crewkerne is suffering from the town pubs closing down or not serving food, I think only the Swan Hotel is still serving food. however there are excellent pubs in the local villages. The cottage was excellent - immaculate. The only downside would be traffic noise as it faces directly onto a busy road. Having said that, the rear bedroom is very quiet. Victoria and the family made us very welcome.

A fantastic holiday cottage! We received a very warm welcome from the owners upon arrival. The cottage was perfect for our stay and all essentials were provided. The cottage was spotless and was very neatly decorated. We were amazed with he wonderful cottage and all that was provided by the owners for our stay. The cottage was in an ideal location for touring the local area and was within a short walking distance of Crewkerne which had a range of shops, restaurants and two supermarkets. East Wing is by far the best holiday cottage that we have ever stayed in and we would not hesitate to book another stay at this accommodation.

A lovely spacious and well appointed property; a warm welcome.. What more could we expect. Crewkerne, itself, was a little disappointing for places to eat in the evening but travel 2-6 miles and we found some good pubs.

July 2018
We booked this cottage to use as a base to tour the area, and it proved to be an ideal choice.. The cottage is well appointed, (although the road is quite noisy, but not a major problem), We were met by our host Victoria and received a very warm welcome, The cottage is very well decorated, very well equipped and very clean, and comfortable. It has excellent parking, and only a few minutes walk to Crewkerne. There are places to eat, have a drink and a supermarket all very close to the cottage. Victoria advised us to contact her if we had any problems, but this was not necessary as our stay was without any problems. We would certainly use this cottage if we were ever back in this part of the country.

Crewkerne is a great place to explore the magnificent Dorset coast and the beautiful Somerset countryside.. It was easy to walk into town from East Wing with some great eating places and little independent shops and a Waitrose! The accommodation was well stocked, one of the best, spotlessly clean, and well thought out, with a very welcoming host. There are some lovely dog walks in Crewkerne itself so pooch also enjoyed her holiday. I must admit I passed East Wing by several times on Sykes website when we were hunting down our cottage for our holiday because the outside really doesn't do the inside justice and I have always stayed in the countryside before, but taking my elderly mother this time I plumbed for a town location best choice I could have made I highly recommend!!! Thank you Vicky and thank you Sykes

East Wing is a beautiful property almost in the centre of the town.. A quality cottage that was spacious and comfortable. When we arrived there was a bottle of wine, some milk, doggy treats and poo bags! How thoughtful. Would definitely recommend this place to stay.

I think you need to say that this is directly on an extremely busy road , when you are sitting in the property the noise from the road is constant until around 2am then starts again around 5.. 30am ..... just not quite as relaxing as we envisaged
Mrs Donnelly
April 2018
Crewkerne is an attractive, friendly town well-placed for exploring Somerset and the Devon/Dorset coast.. East Wing was within easy walking distance of the town centre, shops & eateries and it was very useful having private parking on the doorstep.
Mr Reid
March 2018
We found the East Wing to be spotlessly clean, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped.. It is clear that the owners have spared no expense to provide the highest quality in every respect. From the kitchen appliances and equipment to superb towels and bedding we could not have been happier. During a rather damp and dreary week of exploring the local area in early March it was a great pleasure to return to such a comfortable base and light the log burner. The local Waitrose store is just a few minutes away and provided us lots of 'goodies' which were easy to prepare in the lovely kitchen. There are several eating places and pubs in Crewkerne but we only ate out once, preferring the comforts in our 'home from home'. There is private off road parking at the rear of the property. The owners live on site and are happy to help with local information and any problems that might arise. If there is any criticism it is not of the property but of the busy road that passes in front of it. The traffic noise is rather intrusive, particularly in the morning and evening. We must stress that there were just two of us and we were not unduly troubled by this. We slept in the lovely rear bedroom which overlooks the garden and was silent. If both bedrooms were needed, those sleeping in the front bedroom might find it a little noisy if they are light sleepers. All in all, an exceptional property and the best holiday rental we have stayed in, anywhere! A real credit to the owners.

Well appointed and situated accommodation.. East Wing had everything one could ask for. It was very clean and had all the necessary equipment one has at home. eg dishwasher, washing machine, hair dryer and, as it snowed on our visit, a log burner to complement the central heating. All in, accommodation that I would visit again in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay at the west Wing & we we're made to feel very welcome by vicky & her family, everything we needed was catered for plus the little touches such as the fresh flowers on the table, wine & milk in the fridge were lovely, the log burner was fantastic especially as we had snow so it made the whole experience much more cosy, the beds were very comfortable so we all slept well.. The area is fabulous with plenty to see & do, we crammed in as much as we possibly could during our stay, highly recommend the west Wing to anyone considering staying here.

January 2018
We enjoyed our holiday very much, we have been with Sykes lots of times and not been disappointed with the accommodation, the owners are very nice people and always their to help if you need it.. The house was very well equipped, being able to take two dogs was a bonus, dog walking not far away for the early morning walks unfortunately going in January there was a lot of mud around. Thanks again we are looking forward to the next Sykes holiday in six weeks time.

January 2018
Our week at East Wing Crewkerne was excellent, the cottage was warm, bright, exceedingly comfortable and well equipped.. We live in a very rural location and love it, so for us a cottage in a town, where you can walk from your front door on lit footpaths to the shops and for dog walking is a must and East wing is within 100 metres of the centre of Crewkerne, which for us is great. Having stayed at various Sykes cottages we can say that this one is top notch, 10/10. We are already planning a return visit. David & Susan Russell from Kent.

We feel we got very lucky with this booking. The house is a beautiful property finished to a high standard. All eventualities were covered with a lovely welcome pack with a bottle of wine and treats for our dogs. The garden bedroom is tranquil and with a lovely en suite. The front room was great for the kids with a large and beautifully finished en suite. Downstairs is open plan with a well fitted kitchen again filled with lots of gadgets to help. Our only disappointment was that it didn't get cold enough for us to light the beautiful wood burner in the sitting room. The town is lovely with good pubs and two supermarkets 5 minutes away. We truly couldn't find fault with anything. We had a fantastic relaxing holiday. I am just looking to book to stay again.
