Returned home today after spending a very wet week in the bay, however the saving grace was the beautiful cottage we stayed in, this is our 5th stay at Heather Croft cottage, it was superb, warm and spotless with off road parking. Since our last stay there has been some lovely improvements made, the kitchen has been updated and the deck has been replaced which overlooks the bay, so pleased we got to have coffee on it yesterday. The house was lovely and warm and Karen ensures the house is well maintained. The grandchildren are already talking of going back as the little one stated she loved the house and as all of us was sad to leave. I would highly recommend this little gem of a cottage and hope that whoever stays there has as wonderful time as we did, must also say a big thank you for not skimping on the heating as it was really needed. Until the next time, thank you :)

Bit of a Tardis this, looks small on the outside but is quite large on the inside.. three bedrooms one down stairs two up stairs with shower/toilet room up and bath/toilet room down so ideal for families. Some jigsaw puzzles and games for children and adults to play and some good books to read if the weather is nasty however it was beautiful while we were there . Small but ample garden at rear for kids to play in plus decking area for nice weather and play shed as well. Be prepared for a difficult walk down to the harbour and back as the way is very steep ok if you take your time , exhausting if you try to rush. It would be a profitable idea if someone local had some kind of transport for taking people up and down the hill to the harbour/village for a small fee I think it would be very popular. All in all a great place i would recommend it.

The cottage is a lovely and well suited for a quiet get away.. There’s also quite a large grassed garden which is not shown on the pictures. There’s a large supermarket only 4 miles away. Would happily stay here again.

The cottage was good value for money and the main strength was the wonderful view from the living room and kitchen.. We even sat on the decking once! It is spacious in terms of living accommodation and reasonably well equipped. The upstairs shower room is small and there is nowhere to put toiletries ( a shelf would help). There is more room in the downstairs bathroom , but a second shower over the bath would be a real bonus! The beds are fine and there is plenty of storage. The cooker is old and would benefit from an upgrade. Unfortunately the kitchen wasn't very clean when we arrived, but the owner was very quick to offer to remedy that. More tea towels would be nice. This is a beautiful area with excellent pubs and restaurants.

A few minor repairs needed.. Toilet flush in downstairs loo. Light switch in downstairs bedroom. New peice of hosepipe so that you can wash your car. Nothing major that would stop me booking again. We love this cottage and the owner is very helpful if you need anything.

These days with people travelling from abroad I was surprised that there was no towels, hand and tea but no bath.. We had to go out and buy some. It seemed strange because everything else was provided. All together a lovely stay.

The price of the cottage was fair for our short stay and time of the year. The location is good, and there is room for 2 cars. The furnishings have been updated since the photos on here were taken. There is a nice decking area outside plus a children's Wendy House, which is a nice touch for families. There are 3 rooms, 2 of which on the first floor are reasonably sized, the 3rd room being a small single. There is a bathroom on the ground, plus a shower room on the first. We were relatively comfy here through the day, but we found a big issue with the heating. The cottage was very cold, and the thermostat was not adjustable, likely due to a lock being put on the temperature. This, I'm afraid we found disappointing, as with no open fire in the cottage we were relying on the central heating, but unfortunately the lack of flexibility on the heating made the atmosphere in the cottage very cold. At night, the 1st floor rooms were just about warm enough for a comfortable nights sleep, but my friend who stayed in the single ground room was very cold at night and had to sleep in clothes which, meant when the heating kicked in at 6, he was woken up absolutely roasting. Definitely need to allow paying guests the flexibility to adjust their own heating. The bath on the ground floor initially ran cold, so needs to run very slowly to attain the desired temperature. Nevertheless, a good bath if you can afford to wait. The shower on the first however is not very powerful. It's an electric shower which fails to provide the satisfactory pressure for an enjoyable shower. We were that cold at times, that we had the oven and hobs on just to provide additional heating so, if the locked thermostat is an efficiency plan... it didn't work on this occasion. As previously stated, there is no WI-FI which, is not such a big issue if you can get a 3/4G signal... but you can't. So, the only way to access the internet is to go to the local shop and buy a voucher, which on a Sunday (when I needed access) is not possible. I think the WI-FI instalment would seriously be worth the investment. Negatives aside, all cooking utensils and facilities are available, plus iron/ironing board. Also there are some complimentary board games to use which for families is a nice touch.

The location, views and privacy of this cottage were all excellent. The rooms were spacious and the decoration and furnishings were to a very high standard. The kitchen utensils/equipment were more than adequate for our needs. Another good thing was having a parking area on the drive for 2 cars. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in Robin Hood's Bay.

Heather Croft was all we could have wanted and more. The cottage was a delightfully spacious place with a good view of the bay. We enjoyed the local eateries, walks, sheep at the bottom of the garden and bats at night. Not forgetting the variety of birds who visited every day. It is well located for visits to Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes and of course Grosmont is a lovely place to visit and explore.

This was our third visit to Heather Croft. It offers everything we need and is in a wonderful position, with views over the rooftops down to the sea. It is a very warm, comfortable property and has a lovely relaxed feel to it. The added bonus is that it has its own parking, which is rare in Robin Hood's Bay.

October 2012
Property is beautifully situated with spectacular sea and country views. The property has adequate parking for two cars and is close to the village of Robin Hood's Bay. Bathroom accommodation is somewhat limited by having only one very small electric shower. Overall cleanliness was good and, although we never saw the owner, a large vase of flowers greeted us on our arrival. The property does not have Internet although there is a local public Wifi service that offers a very limited connection at cost (10 pounds per week). There were some problems with maintenance, such as a malfunctioning glass shower door that was apt to fall on you, blocked outside drains that overflowed at the side of the property (causing bad smells in the kitchen), and a poorly functioning oven that heated the kitchen rather than cooking the food. Voice messages left for the owner regarding maintenance issues went unanswered and the rental company, Sykes cottages, could only apologize after the fact for our experience.

The cottage was perfect for our needs and we have already booked it again for next year. Its location is great - super views and perfectly placed for touring around the area. The owner popped over to introduce herself and to ask if everything was OK, which was nice. It was Goth weekends in Whitby, which added extra interest to our holiday.
