We were very disappointed with this accommodation. From the moment you walk in you are hit with the stale small of foist and damp. A quick inspection shows that this is coming from thick black mould around both external doors. This is not something that’s happened overnight and has clearly been chosen to be ignored by the owners. As this was our first trip away in 4 years, we decided to make the most of the holiday and raise our concerns at the end of the week. Luckily we had good weather and the area itself is simply marvellous We contacted Sykes Holiday Cottages on the last day of our holiday. They couldn’t have been less interested or helpful, citing that they could only have done something if we’d informed them whilst we were staying there. They said that they would’ve sent their cleaning team in, from the pictures attached this problem wouldn’t just wipe away with a cloth. It needs redecorating, doors re-sealing etc, which is not something I particularly wanted to endure during a 4 day break. We were also told that we should’ve approached the owners direct. Well, if I knew who they were then that might’ve been an option. I can only assume the owners lived in the adjoining property, but as they never approached us once during our stay, an assumption is all that can be. My only interaction with anyone was to arrange collection of the key, when I was told it would be under a plant pot and the lady promptly put the phone down on me without any conversation whatsoever. Also, I wasn’t informing them that the toaster wasn’t working, I would’ve been informing them that in my opinion their accommodation was dirty, which again is something I wasn’t keen on doing So no help, no apology, absolutely no refund/compensation and no reassurance that this will be rectified for any future guests. We were expecting a cosy and romantic retreat and were left very disappointed

Cottage is very clean and comfortable.. Location is a perfect base for walking, cycling and exploring the area, especially for those without a car - 2 separate railway stations within 0.5 miles, and bus stop for Settle-Kirkby Lonsdale buses within 100 yards. Shops and pubs 0.5 miles too. I've now stayed 11 years running!

The cottage was perfect - comfortable and clean and close to where I was working.. The kitchen was fully equipped allowing us to cook an evening meal without resorting to pub meals in the evenings. The owners were very welcoming leaving us everything, including milk and biscuits, to make a drink on our arrival. Station road had parking spaces but it was very convenient to have a parking space inside the yard. The views were beautiful and the cottage a very short walking distance to Settle, and the shops, as well as some beautiful walks by the river.

Lovely, cosy, warm, clean, comfortable cottage.. Everything was well stocked and met our needs. We also met the owners who were very welcoming and friendly. The wi-fi signal was quite weak, maybe just needs a signal booster. The cottage is only 15 minutes walk to Settle train station and the main town. Everyone we met in Giggleswick and Settle were friendly. We enjoyed our train journeys to Carlisle, Skipton and Leeds. The Royal Oak pub in Settle was very welcoming and we were served by friendly staff. Definitely recommend the cottage and the location.

We enjoyed our stay in, Foxholes very much, it is compact and quirky but has all you need.. It is situated on a quiet road on the edge of Settle with a very nice stroll along the river into town centre. There are many of the Yorkshire Dale's attractions close by and a short drive to the Lake District and Morecambe ,

Excellent accommodation in a really good location, ideally placed within easy walking distance of both Giggleswick and Settle railway stations giving the option of parking the car and using the railway to explore the area.. Foxholes Lodge is comfortable accommodation and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Wouldn't hesitate to book again if heading back to the area.

The cottage was very comfortable and clean and had everything you needed for a holiday.. It was well placed to visit both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. There are some nice pubs in Settle - particularly the Talbot Arms and a Coop supermarket. All in all we had an enjoyable stay and even lots of sunshine!

Foxhole Lodge more than met my expectations.. Beautifully situated, many walks locally and others well within easy driving distance. The accommodation itself was excellent - everything provided and very clean. I will definitely stay there again - still so much more of the area to explore!

An excellent one bedroom let very clean and comfortable, we had every thing that we could possibly need for a weeks break except for the weather.. Rain Rain and more Rain but the sun was shinning when we arrived and every thing was just fine. We walked into Settle and had a very nice and relaxing evening meal and a very pleasant walk along the river back to our let.

We never got there because of the snow and were shocked to find that the Sykes insurance company abolished coverage for adverse weather conditions just a few weeks before we booked, just in time for winter one presumes..

The accommodation was spotless and tastefully decorated.. There was plenty of parking space which is always an added bonus as I hate walking miles to my car or having to struggle in a poky place. My eyes are not what they were. The local facilities were far enough away without it being too much of a trek if you wanted a drink and to leave the car behind. I fully enjoyed the stay and would recommend to friends and family without a second thought.Great little house and a nice welcome with Grandma Wild's biggest(No relation) and fresh flowers. Keep up the good work. Paul Wild.

My mum and I stayed here in July for a week so we could do some walks in the Yorkshire Dales. On the website of the cottage provider it stated that it had a freezer which it does not. We asked the owners about this and they said after the floods the previous winter they'd refitted it and not put a freezer in. However given that this was 7 months prior they had plenty of time to rectify the property description. The cooker was also very complicated to operate. The house has a peculiar layout with the bedroom on the ground floor and the living room on the top. The shower had a tendency to leak all over the bathroom floor. The lock on the front door is very stiff and difficult to lock. Main plus points for this property are that it's within easy walking distance of Giggleswick and Settle train stations.
