This, our second visit to Fir Tree Stables, proved to be every bit as enjoyable as the first. The cottage was exactly as we remembered it - spotlessly clean, cosy, comfortable and welcoming. It was evident though it had been spruced up with new carpets and a new bathroom featuring a fabulous walk-in shower instead of a bath. This was a huge improvement. The cottage is in a quiet location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It provides an excellent base for visiting places such as Fountains Abbey, Bolton Abbey, Skipton, Rippon, Grassington and Linton Falls. The hosts, John and Val, are very friendly and forthcoming with useful suggestions on places to visit if you're stuck for ideas. There are several public footpaths close to the cottage which our dog loved exploring! We instantly feel at home in this cottage and will definitely be back!

The owner came to visit not long after we got there and it was nice to meet her and was reassured that if there was anything we wanted we just had to ask.. The cottage was a good size for two plus a dog. The newly fitted shower room was really nice, the kitchen was very well equipped and the bed was really comfortable. The lane outside is really quiet, we counted about 10 cars that passed the house in the week we were there. Great location near Brimham Rocks. Good local walks. A really enjoyable holiday and we are very glad we went on this holiday

Fir Tree Stables is a wonderful peaceful retreat with every home comfort and the beautiful new bathroom complete with walk-in shower was a fabulous surprise especially for my husband who cannot climb in and out of a bath very well.. The owners are very caring, friendly and helpful too. I would definitely recommend this cottage as a base for touring beautiful Yorkshire.

The cottage and location was great and as expected.. The only reason for my 8 score is that the weather was awful and we had to leave early. This of course has nothing to do with the accommodation. Other than that would be happy to return later in the year.

This cottage was the most spacious one bedroomed property we have ever stayed in and we have been self catering for over 40 years.. Although rural and a few miles from the nearest shops, the views were extra ordinary. The local people very welcoming even the local cows came to see my dog Ivy and myself on our walks. (cows/ladies of the meadow/ in their field of course) The weather could not have been better. We found a cafe in Pateley Bridge The Blue Tea pot which sold tea and coffee for 50p a very moorish cuppa it was. Brimham Rocks is a relaxing place to visit ideal for leisurely walks for pets and ourselves. The National Gift shop there is a treasure trove with regular special offers. The ice cream cones there are great value for money and delicious when you can finish them before your pet takes a shine and catches the fallen scoop. Overall a very relaxing week. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

This was the first cottage in the last ten we have hired not to leave out a .... This was the first cottage in the last ten we have hired not to leave out a small welcoming gift, even after phoning them saying we were going to be late on arriving ie 8pm I thought they might have left out some milk a cup full at least so we could have had a cuppa on arrival, one of the reason we booked this cottage was because it stated it had a bath which I was looking forward to as we had ours taken out on getting wet floor, well it did have a bath but couldn't use it as the water ran cold all the time couldn't understand this as the sink beside it the water was very hot when using it , the doggie walks just outside the cottage we couldn't find at all had to walk on the road all the time just a few trivial things and the cottage was excellent

This was our first stay at Fir Tree Stables and I can safely say it won't be our last.. The cottage is in a fantastic location with stunning scenic views of rolling countryside, but never too far away from various locations of beauty to visit either. The décor and amenities at Fir Tree Stables are excellent and gave the whole experience an amazing homely feel. The owners are so friendly and helpful, and apply a "we are here if you need anything" approach which enables you to have a more relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Being able to take our loveable Staffie with us was a complete bonus also, as he was able to relax and enjoy the holiday as much as we did.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming and this was probably the most relaxing holiday we have experienced in the UK.. The view from the cottage was absolutely excellent. The owners allowed you to go onto their property for walks and the fact that we could take our dog with us made the holiday. We will book there again in the future.

We stayed at Fir Trees over the Easter holidays and loved it. Brilliant accommodation, lovely and clean, home from home. It was easy to find and got a lovely warm welcome of the owner. If you want a place thats nice & quiet then this is for you as there's nothing around it except lovely scenery and the birds singing. Yes there's local shops and Pubs but you have a 6 minute journey to get to these. The bed is so comfy and the shower is brilliant. Instant hot water and when the wind was blowing outside inside it was lovely and warm. A lovely place to stay and yes will be back for another break. The only down side is that there's no WiFi, yes I know I'm a saddo but some of us need it. Highly recommend this lovely property to any one who looks at it.

Easy to find with the post code in the satnav. Very clean and well equipped, plenty of china cutlery and glasses. Beds were comfortable and it was so quiet with virtually no passing traffic. Modern bathroom with a decent shower over the bath and plenty of hot water. Good parking. Well stocked shop in the village which claims to be open till late 7 days a week. Lots of places to visit without going too far or or course lots of walks from the front door for the energetic. We went into Pateley bridge each evening for our meal, a nice small town about 5 miles away. It would be nice to go back as there is still much for us to see.

Our stay was amazing, in a beautiful cottage and views to die for. It was very well appointed and very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and approachable with nothing too much trouble. If you require peace and quiet away from the rat race this is perfect. Local shops and tourist attractions were within easy reach by car with many available walks for those who enjoy that sort of pastime. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, located in the middle of all that beautiful Nidderdale and Yorkshire had to offer.
