Had a 1 week stay late July in Fairhaven Cottage, Ugthorpe.
The cottage is excellent, the owner and neighbours very helpful.
Used the cottage as a base. During our stay we visited Whitby, Ravenscar, Runswick Bay, Grosmont and Goathland.
There is a pub next door to property and in surrounding area there are a number of excellent pubs offering the opportunity to dine if required.
A thoroughly great holiday and top marks to Fairhaven Cottage.

We booked this holiday very last minute (3 days before we went) due to our previous holiday being cancelled last minute.. The communication from Sykes and the owner was excellent and very reassuring.
The cottage was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. Very well equipped in every way with quality fittings, furniture and housewares. Perfect location for beautiful beaches, which is just what we wanted. The owner let us know who was available if we needed anything. This was really good to know although everything was fine.

A lovely spacious cottage perfectly positioned for a relaxing break and only 10 minutes away from Sandsend.. The cottage was lovely with everything you need. The log burner is boiling so warms the whole house very quickly so not needed on all at time. Bathroom was spacious but there was no window. The kitchen was a great size and had everything we needed.
Beds were comfy and it was great to have the little pub next door.
The owner communicated with us and made sure we were happy and had all we needed.
Thanks for a great stay.

Really lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings.. Light and airy but yet cosy enough with the log burner on cold winter nights. We would definitely go back.

Third time we have stayed , unfortunately just a short trip this time due to unforeseen circumstances.
The cottage is lovely, all mod cons, nicely decorated , warm and comforting.
It's a great base for exploring the area.
And the pub next door is excellent.
After a day out you return and sit in the glow of the fire content and relaxed.
The picture is from Robin Hood's Bay.

The most cosiest cottage. Loved every minute. The beds were comfy, the stove is amazing. The lounge is welcoming. Everything you need to stay in or travel to the local bays for day and use as a base. We went to Whitby, Staithes, Runswick bay, robin hoods bay and Lealholm. Even visited the welcoming pub next door. Food was amazing.
Our daughter loved it and so did our yorkiepoo. (Great fenced off area at the back)

Cottage was just right for us,with everything in working order.. Added bonus was the pub two doors away. You will need transport as the village is very small with no shops within 5 miles. Wi-fi was good and the kitchen was well fitted out with toaster, microwave and a very good cooker & hob. Parking is right outside the door and there are other holiday cottages adjacent. We would book this cottage again without a doubt.

Fairhaven cottage is a fabulous place to stay.. Well located and in great condition. The added benefit of a first class pub next door was the icing on the cake.
If I had to be really picky, the kitchen knives could use a sharpen and to get the best out of the dishwasher, you would need a second set of crockery, but that's it. Otherwise, this place is pretty much perfect and we will be back.

A lovely cottage, that is so quiet despite a pub next door! We never heard cars or patrons coming or going. The cottage was immaculately clean and had everything to ensure a warm and pleasant stay. Michael discreetly kept in touch to ensure everything was ok- it was perfect! Amazing wildlife a woodpecker out the back every morning and we saw Hares in the field and a Barn Owl. Easy access to all East Coast. Gave us chance to enjoy the Ghost Walk in Whitby from the Whale arches, usually we have headed home by then. And lovely coastal drive to Sandsend, Runswick Bay, Staithes without being on main tourist route.

Arrived for short break at the tail end of the beast from the east.
Thick show on the ground.
Freezing fog.
Lovely cottage, very cold, but by the end of the first night we were snug.
Excellent layout and facilities.
We had a meal in the pub, an arduous walk of thirty paces !
All too quickly tine was up.
It makes a great base to explore the area, it's quiet and peaceful, with room out back in summer weather to have a drink or perhaps a BBQ.
Happy to recommend.

Lovely cosy, well equipped cottage, handy for Whitby and the North York’s Moors. Had everything we needed, and the added bonus of a pub with food more or less next door. Despite this, the cottage was very quiet and peaceful. Owner Michael was very friendly and helpful a all times. We shall go back again in summer!

The location is great, local pub friendly, pub food excellent. Near to all the places we wanted to visit and more, we have to come back to see more of the area and eat at the local pub again. The moors are have fantastic scenery and the train journey to Pickering is brilliant.
Will definately be back soon.
