Jennie & Ian are fantastic hosts. Very friendly and personable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. We felt well looked after and catered for. They went above and beyond for us.
The Gate House is a fabulous place to stay to recharge your batteries. Beautiful surroundings. Very interesting history.
Inside it has everything you would ever need plus more! Beds & sofas comfortable. Linens, fixtures, fittings, all high quality.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Well stocked kitchen and lovely welcome basket of biscuits & Prosecco!
Lots of spare items available such as batteries, plug charger and more. All the type of things you might forget to take away but would have in your own home. The clothes airers were great for towels after the hot tub.
A lovely touch with high end full size shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and emergency items in bathrooms such as tooth brushes sewing kits.
All of the cushions and throws in bedrooms and living areas were freshly washed for our stay.
The underfloor heating was fab on bare feet!
Hot tub brilliant and Jennie popped by to check the chemicals and top up during the week and did let us know first.
As a family we had lots of fun in the games room. Karaoke, Air Hockey, Arcade Golf, Table Football plus other bits in the 'Hayloft'. Also board games and cards etc downstairs in living room with a massive coffee table to play them on!
Property was secure all round. Outside in the glorious back garden alongside a prestigious hot tub was badminton, a BBQ stand, a lovely chairs and table, a pung pong table and plenty of accompanying bats, balls etc.
On the doorstep a tranquil stroll through old church grounds and shops etc all a short car journey away.
Being located in the middle of the UK map, it is an ideal location to visit lots of places such as Matlock Bath, Chesterfield, Nottingham and more. There was a really helpful guide folder in the Gatehouse we looked through for places to visit, which also had lots of helpful information eg Chemists, GPS, hospitals, vets, butchers, bakery, etc.
By far the best family holiday we have had. Would definitely recommend!

We went to the Gatehouse over NYE (2 families including kids from ages 12-17 and a dog) and it was just perfect! The house is beautiful, and really cozy. The hosts had thought of everything. From the moment we arrived it felt like the house gave us a warm hug. There was a welcome gift including something for the dog. There is real attention to detail to make your visit comfortable, they even provide umbrellas. It was lovely to see that we had 2 Christmas trees to add to the atmosphere. Although it was winter, we still used the hot tub, braving the short walk to the back door was worth it! The rooms are good sizes and the beds are super comfortable. (I need to find out the make of mattress as I want one!) The decor is to a high standard, with lovely touches around the house. I would definitely recommend The Gatehouse.

What can we say? Absolutely brilliant time at the Gatehouse. The pre arrival information from Jennie was first class.
When we arrived the property wowed and there were even a few gifts for us and our four legged baby.
We wanted a chilled out experience over New Year and we weren’t disappointed.
Everything was perfect
