My partner made an accidental booking with this place as there are two Askham’s in the U.. K., one in the Lake District, and this one.
Upon realising this (the day after the booking) I contacted the owner, Sarah, to apologise for the mistake and politely request a refund, to which she bluntly said ‘No’, but then poceded to reassure me that we would enjoy our stay regardless.
Needless to say, this wasn’t going to be happening as Lincolnshire, the location of Sarah’s accommodation, is absolutely nowhere near our intended location of the Lake District, and travelling here would have been completely unfeasable.
I then suggested that she could just refund half of the cost as compensation for the inconvenience caused but again she persisted that she would be keeping the money.
Ultimately, Sarah’s greed and lack of compassion cost us a total of £350.
Would not recommend booking with this selfish and untrustworthy owner.
