Dale cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Given the weather during our stay the log burner was a great benefit. The bed linen and towels were to a 5* hotel level. Highly recommended for a stay if visiting the area It is a great location to visit the area, seem to be a favourite of walkers/hikers The residents of Allendale were very welcoming, The Forge provided a great breakfast,(also the butchers offered tea/coffee, bacon and sausage rolls as well as excellent homemade pork pies and meat) Sunday Lunch at the Kings Head was fantastic and great value for money, the cost of wine and food in the village pubs was a lot cheaper than in the tourist spots such as the town Corbridge which has lovely shops a fantastic cake shop and historical sites, well worth a visit. A Pizza van with wood fired oven visits weekly, fantastic pizza! also a "gourmet" burger van on a Friday

Had a lovely week at Dale cottage from 3rd October.. The weather was very kind to us which made our holiday there that bit more special. The cottage is in the heart if Allendale town Tony the owner live very close do if you have any concerns they are dealt with straight away. The co op although small sells just about everything you need and more!! The butchers shop sells the best pork pies and steak so a visit is a must!! There are so many beautiful places to see Raby castle a must and Corbridge town is beautiful you must visit the bakery. Would definitely recommend the open living space is great.

Lovely cottage and surrounding area, as with everything at the moment not everything open fully but have a look and you will find.. Only slight issue with the cottage was the shared access to adjoining cottages (Same owners) our dozy Lab was fine but maybe others may not. But in summary a lovely holiday

A lovely cottage in a great location unfortunately for us the weather before and while we were there was so wet it spoilt the holiday, but we will return another year to explore this area more..

The cottage is of an high standard lovely & clean .. Very well equipped kitchen. Extremely comfy beds. Beautiful bathrooms & log fire just like home. Outside side area is spacious with seating. We have family in the area so we knew how welcoming the local people are . Lovely to speak to Tony the owner. We had yummy breakfast in the The Forge cafe & a couple of main meals in The Golden Loin which were lovely. Loved it that much we have booked for Christmas .

Lovely cottage in a market town .. .. good location for exploring the area. Allendale has good shops, tea rooms and 2 pubs doing great food. Cottage itself is well equipped with 2 good bedrooms both ensuite which is ideal for 2 couples. Good kitchen and seating downstairs. the absence of any welcome pack was disapointing and not even a tea bag in the caddy. At minimum some tea and a small bottle of milk would have been nice, especially as the shop may be closed.

We came here last year and as soon as we arrived we were taken aback with the amount of work that has been done in the garden area. Inside the furniture has changed but retained its charm. Nothing is too much trouble for the owner who appears to graft none stop to ensure you have a great time. On the down side the Allendale Arms is suffering from a lack of love and landlords. As ever the coop is amazing. Were back next year and already looking forward to it

Had a lovely stay in this cottage! It was lovely and clean and very well equipped. Tony was very helpful and friendly as were everyone in the village. We visited the Kings Head twice and the food was lovely. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to everyone :)

Here at the moment, and will be returning again.. Lovely cottage, with everything you could possibly need for your break away from it all. Comfy beds, nice enclosed garden. (Really important for us with two big dogs.) Looking forward to coming back and seeing the communal garden completed. The cottage also has its own garden. Three pubs within a minutes walk, all which do food. A lovely tea room and a little cafe again with a minutes walk. Needless to say we ate out every night, although the kitchen is well equipped. A few photos of walks and the dogs chilling on the garden, and relaxing at the pub. Further afield Hexham Abbey is worth a visit, as is Hadrians Wall.

A super cottage with everything you could need and more.. The cottage & Allendale are perfect. The cottage is on the market square so only seconds from pubs, butcher, coffee shops & very well stocked coop. The owners of the cottage popped in and was very friendly & helpful. One of the best cottages and locations we have been too. Already booked again this year. Simply excellent.

This is a great location to explore areas of Northumberland.. Allendale is a lovely little town and the cottage is located in the Market Square which gives you immediate access to 3 pubs, a butchers, a tea room and a co-op. We explored Hadrian’s Wall and Kielder Forest. There are also local walks that you can do from the cottage. We took our dogs with us. Great cottage if you want to take your furry friends with you. We would stay here again.

This property just needs a bit of TLC to bring it back to it`s full potential. The furniture in the sitting area has been well used and lacks the comfort due to the the sagging of the cushions. The TV and Sky Box are last century. This property is listed as sleeping 6 people but they may have a bed but they would have no where to sit downstairs. This really is a property for 4 and would be better to remove the single beds from both bedrooms and give you a wardrobe as there is no where to hang your clothes. Having pointed out the negatives there are many positives going for this property and even though I new about the above we still came back for a second stay. We had a problem with the lock on the front door and the owner was there in a flash and fixed it straight away. You have three pubs, Co-op, butchers and tea-room all within a three minute very slow walk. All pubs do food. The people are all friendly and I would not hesitate to return. Providing you don`t expect top end luxury you won`t be disappointed.

August 2018
Being in the centre of the Village was fantastic, the location absolutely perfect with masses of parking close to the front door.. The garden exceeded our expectations and was larger and very child friendly. Having the adjoining cottage for our own family too was just perfect as we could 'hop over the wall' very easily. The cleaners had done a fantastic job - the place was immaculate and we were allowed to put things in the fridge and leave suitcases whilst we went on my husband's Memorial Walk before the correct 'checking in' time. We found the cottage fabulous for entertaining as Allendale used to be hour home town and of course folks kept dropping by - all very impressed by the quality of the furnishings, décor and were the best equipped self-catering places we have every stayed in (and I used to own a 5 star time share) so I am used to quality but these cottages are 'top notch' and I cannot recommend them too much - we dearly would love to rent them again in the future if it is possible. I feel that anything like the Dale Townhouse and Dale Cottage will be a very hard, if not impossible standard to meet elsewhere and thank you so much for organising them.

Stayed here for a week in July. We were blessed with fantastic weather which only added to the experience. Really convenient for the village centre, and a great base to discover the beautiful countryside that lies all around. Comfortable beds, modern kitchen, nice garden and easy parking. Highly recommended.

Fantastic week in this lovely cottage ! Took mum who at 78 appreciated the walk in shower in her bedroom and the downstairs loo. Kitchen space and facilities great . 2 large dogs appreciated the enclosed garden and cooling tiled floors. Lots of games books etc . Freezer was very useful as we brought raw meat for our dogs. Not very often you get more than an ice box.Shops, pubs post office with cash point all in walking distance. In fact we couldn't have asked for anything better. Will be back next year with 3 dogs !!! P.s. fish and chips at the Golden Lion Friday night absolutely awesome.

This cottage had everything we needed to relax and enjoy a weeks holiday with our 2 small dogs.. It is very dog friendly and it has a lovely large fully enclosed back garden to enjoy. In fact the whole of Allendale is dog friendly! The dogs are welcome in the pubs and there are some lovely walks along the river. People are friendly and the locals make you feel really welcome. We will definitely return to this cottage !

July 2018
Enjoyed a fantastic 7 days in the Dale Cottage.. Owners Linda and Tony very friendly and helpful. Cottage exceeded our expectations, just like home from home. The location is excellent 3 pubs on your doorstep, a coop and the local butchers. Pies from the butchers a must to try. Fish and chips in the Golden Lion should not be missed. All the locals very friendly and helpful. The Northumberland countryside is beautiful with an abundance of great walks....some right on your doorstep. Very dog friendly. All in all a fantastic experience and one we would repeat again.

June 2018
We didn't think this was worthy of a high star rating.. Kitchen equipment ie saucepans etc not up to standard. Also we were not aware that the owners also had a Bunk House 2 doors away which takes groups, including hen and stag parties. On our first Saturday night, noise went on outside into the early hours. The owners were away that night so we don't know if that made a difference.

June 2018
A wonderful cottage in a great location! Kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Perfect for us and mum with 2 separate bathrooms as she cannot use a shower over the bath. Ideal for our 2 dogs with an enclosed garden and lovely walks on the doorstep. 3 pubs and a co-op,post office(with cashpoint )and butchers on the doorstep. There seemed to be a very good bus service if needed. Tony and Linda ,the owners, were next door and really helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.Fish and chips at the Golden Lion were awesome and all 3 pubs very dog friendly. We can't wait to go back !!!!

June 2018
Lovely comfortable cottage , owners lived next door and were very friendly and helpful.. Kitchen lacked a saucepan or two and a small clothes airer or outside line would have been helpful to dry muddy clothes and dog towels! Village was very busy and had a shop , post office , cafe and 3 pubs!! Fish and chips at the golden lion were fabulous..

A Beautiful cottage and garden which we made full use of in the evening thanks to an amazing week of good weather.. The only downside to the garden was that it wasn’t secure enough for our little Patterdale terrier due to the gaps under the gate, but we managed to improvise using a long plank of wood we found! Something to bear in mind if you are taking small dogs. The beautiful bedrooms could have easily afforded King size beds, which would have made it perfect!!! However, these are only minor things that certainly didn’t detract from being in an amazing Cottage, in a fantastic village location with the friendliest locals!! Well worth paying a visit.

May 2018
This is a beautiful cottage , it has been renovated with great care and attention to detail, I would buy it in the blink of an eye if it was available.. The owners and everyone we spoke to in the town were very helpful and dog friendly. The town has everything that you need but if you need more Hexham is only 10 miles away.

This cottage is stunning and well appointed.. Everything has been thought of and provided. The location is excellent for local attractions and just a few steps from your door there are 3 great pubs, cafes and a Co-op. The village is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. Dogs are welcome in all the pubs too. Just perfect.

April 2018
Brilliant well equiped cottage.. 3 pubs in the village if you don't fancy cooking. The Co-op store stocks anything you forget. Garden not fully enclosed for a smaller dog, easy to go into the Bunkhouse garden. Loved the underfloor heating. Ideal base for visiting the amazing local countryside. Seahouses, Bamburgh, Talkin Tarn, Allen Banks, Kielder, Bolam Lake (free parking). A brilliant week away. Will recommend.

March 2018
This cottage has been beautifully refurbished, it feels very spacious for a two bed room.. It has a boot room which is great and I loved the warm floor in the living area. It’s in a fantastic location right on the square in Allendale and it’s lovely that dogs are welcome. We really liked it and enjoyed the food and hospitality in the three pubs on the square. The log burner was very welcome during the first two days when we were snowed in.

February 2018
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, just a shame that our holiday was cut short by extreme weather! Plenty of beautiful walks straight from the doorstep along with 3 pubs a Co-Op and cafes. Highly recommend Hadrian's Wall and Beamish Museum, preferably on warmer days! Cottage would benefit from a little more clothes storage in the bedrooms and a cafetiere for morning coffee but otherwise all good.

I have rented many properties and this is by far the best one I have ever rented.. Tony and Linda were exceptionally helpful ,friendly and patient!! The cottage was a very high standard ,so much so, I would have happily moved in permanently. The location is excellent, you could manage without a car easily, there is a good bus service, the facilities in the village are more than adequate. I can't wait to go back.

A great holiday cottage, especially for two couples due to the two ensuite rooms.. A really lovely open plan kitchen diner and lounge, and underfloor heating. A good location for us as we cycle and run. Some fantastic cycling in the area and good cafes to have lunch!! We ran over the moors and walked. Good pubs too. A great little base which we explored the surrounding area from.

Nothing else, other than for me to emphasise how wonderful a stay we enjoyed at Dale Cottage - and how much I regretted not booking an extra week.. The cottage is lovely and the area provides ample and varied walks from the doorstep. As for the food served at the local hostelries (including the Crown at Catton) - sublime. I have only one real question now...do Allendale Butchers have a website? The meat and their service was excellent - our dogs will be working their way through the supply of meaty bones for weeks - thank you Sykes, thank you Dale Cottage and Thank you Allendale.
Mrs Mann, October 2016
August 2016
The location was more than we could have asked for with a local Co op , gift shops and 3 pubs all serving food, within walking distance.. The Forge cafe served outstanding snacks and cakes . Everyone in Allendale town willingly shared their local knowledge and were very friendly.
