Holiday home
Dovecote offers homely studio-style accommodation in the leafy green countryside near Helford. The property sleeps two people and has one double bedroom (en-suite) as part of the open plan living/sleeping area. The accommodation is all on one level and a galley kitchen leads off from the living/sleeping area. Outside there is a pretty cottage garden with outdoor furniture plus off road parking for two cars. Located just a short drive from the village of Helford and the banks of the Helford River, Dovecote offers a peaceful retreat throughout the year.

All on one floor. Open plan living area with sofa, TV, dining table and chairs, and super king bed. Small en-suite shower room with basin and WC. Galley kitchen. Outside utility room shared with property owner.

Area
Helford is a picturesque village on the south side of the Helford River. Helford is very popular with its thatched cottages, excellent village stores and especially The Shipwrights Arms, right on the edge of the creek with its waterside terrace. Just a short walk away is Frenchman’s Creek, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier. The Helford River Sailing Club is very popular and a regatta is held every August. In the summer a passenger ferry runs to Helford passage, the home of the Ferryboat Inn, and nearby to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The wildlife on the Helford River is diverse and a birdwatcher’s paradise.

Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.

This is a lovely cottage situated in secluded and quiet countryside, there is no traffic noise just peace and quiet. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The cottage is well equipped there is a separate kitchen and bathroom and the main room is split between a very large and comfortable bed and a dining/living area. Parking is off-road. As to the roads themselves that would be my only caveat they are very very narrow and Cornwall is not known for its careful driving! There is plenty to see and do in the area with most 30 to 40 minutes away, eg Falmouth, The Lizard, Penzance, St Ives even Land's End is easily reached. Their is the lovely town of Helston near by for all your shopping needs and I can recommend the Blue Anchor for some real ale and also see how it is made. Great place to stay.

We knew there would be a garden to enjoy at Dovecote but we didn't realise there would be a breathtaking view as well.. Dovecote is well placed for visiting nearby gardens as well as the coast. Gill and Carl made us feel completely at home, we will definately return, thank you for a lovely week.

When planning this Cornwall break earlier in 2018, we were looking for somewhere suitable for a couple, not over-expensive, and not located in a busy locality.. Dovecote ticked all the boxes. It had all the facilities described on the website. On arrival, our host - Gill - had provided scones and clotted cream! Delicious! The German Shepherd, Rhinny, is a big softy, and just wanted to play all the time. Dovecote lies at the end of a very narrow lane - but as with all Cornwall lanes, if you take care and don't approach bends too fast, there's no problem with meeting vehicles in the opposite direction - passing places. Dovecote is the Annex to the main cottages (another at the far end is also a holiday let) but we hardly saw the other occupants. Supermarket shopping in Helston - Sainsburys, Tesco, and Lidl are easily accessible. Dovecote is an excellent base for visiting the coast across the south of Cornwall, and we even ventured three times beyond Bodmin, close to Plymouth on one occasion and to Tintagel on another (round trips of over 100 miles). But accessing the A30 through Redruth made for easy travel, although we acknowledge that during high season, travel to and round Cornwall might be more difficult. In summary, Dovecote provided an excellent - and very comfortable (nice king-size bed) - for our exploration of Cornwall and its National Trust and English Heritage treasures. RECOMMENDED!

A beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings; it felt like a little dream home! We had a really nice week away and everything we needed was at hand. The host was also very welcoming. We are both dog lovers so we were fine, but our only suggestion would be to put a disclaimer on the site that you have very friendly dog that is free-roaming as some people may not be familiar with dogs or aware that he is there on their arrival. Thank you again for your stay! ***owners response*** We have a very friendly dog called Rinny, who has the freedom of the garden when we are with him, we live on site and will always check with our visitors on arrival that they are ok with our dog. Rinny is not left to roam the garden unattended and if we are out Rinny is put away.***

We had a very enjoyable quiet relaxing time the landlady and landlord were a very nice couple the only complaint we had was the lanes in one part was a very large pot hole and we ended up with a £200 bill for a new front tyre an other couple staying at the same time also had the same problem apart from that it was great ..

We had a warm welcome with cream tea provided and tea, coffee and milk. Lots of extras like kitchen paper and washing up liquid provided too. The place was comfy and clean. We had warm weather and enjoyed sitting out in the sunny garden for breakfast. Be aware that access to Dovecotte is down three narrow lanes. However it is not far from Helston and supermarkets and places to visit.
