Craven Cottage, was very comfortable, clean and spacious.. Situated just a few minutes walk from the town centre and the open countryside We found it an ideal location for our walking holiday. Would not hesitate to to stay again. Keith

August 2020
We had a wonderful time in Skipton.. The house was a brilliant space to relax and enjoy. There was enough space for 14 of us and two dogs easily! It was clean and had everything that we needed. We hope to be able to use the house again some day and would highly recommend it for others.
Mrs Berhane, August 2020
March 2020
Another great weekend in Skipton.. The house fits our extended family [13 adults] and works well. The kitchen is well equipped to feed a large number of people. Parking on the roads around the house for the 4 cars that came was never a particular problem. The location means Tesco is 2 minutes walk away; the canal 4 minutes and the centre of Skipton 8 minutes. Great trips out to Bolton Abbey estate and a good walk to Sharp Haw.
Mrs Palmer, March 2020
December 2019
Beautiful home from home; very comfortable beds, great to have so many bathrooms/toilets For our large group.. It was really warm and well equipped, very clean, we were able to have a great sit down meal, and also to relax in the sitting room. The host was great to communicate and very amenable. It was lovely to have the Christmas decs too. Thank you. WiFi can be pretty patchy and it would be amazing to have sharp knives or an adequate sharpener (especially with so much chopping over Christmas).

Myself and all my family would like to say what an enjoyable week we had in Skipton, especially in crave house, the place to go for a family gathering, thank you to our host, Mrs Rushton..

Fab place to stay in Skipton - highly recommend the Raven Tree Top adventure for adults and kids alike, and a walk round the woods - this house is in a great location and we loved the "secret basement room" downstairs!
Mrs Ashworth
March 2019
Craven House worked really well for us as a weekend getaway.. We were two families - 13 adults and a baby. We split perfectly over the two floor sleeping accommodation, were all able to eat together comfortably, sit together in the lounge (a few of the younger guests on the floor!) and there was loads of equipment in the kitchen. We did all our own catering apart from one meal at the Woolly Sheep pub (great!) and it was very easy. The snug downstairs was a useful extra space too. The house was clean and warm and Skipton a great centre - we mooched round the town and enjoyed walks along the canal, in the castle woods and around the countryside. We never used the car once we arrived. Parking was the only slight issue - no room at the front of the house when we arrived. We were able to find space on a side road and bring everything in via the back door. The big Tesco is only 2 minutes away, so you could always park there for a couple of hours and watch out for space to move into! We weren't disturbed by road noise at all, despite being close to a main road, the soundproofing is good! We'd be very happy to return.

We are a party of golfers.. We have stayed in this house before and will certainly do so again. It is perfectly situated, just a short walk to Tesco and Morrison's and the town centre with all its amenities. Parking just outside can be difficult, but there are lots of alternatives. The courtyard is a real suntrap, ideal for barbecues. And plenty of excellent golf courses nearby.

This is the first time as a family we have booked such a break, To celebrate a landmark birthday.. My wife found your website and looked for a property with enough rooms to accommodate us, upon seeing such a house we were convinced it was kismet as my wifes maiden name was Craven and my Dad was evacuated to Skipton during the war. The town was close and had all amenities, the house had all we would need to have a really enjoyable stay, many thanks
Mrs Fenton
March 2018
The house was very warm and welcoming with ample facilities for our family plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms.. Very spacious for a large group. Only a five minute walk to town centre amenities.

The property is fantastic.. Very homely and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. The playroom in the basement kept the kids entertained for hours ( in our party the age ranged from 6 to 14). Lots of places to visit within a few miles of the property And it was a pleasure returning to a beautiful warm Arga.

December 2017
Found the parking a complete disaster once parked could not use car as afraid would not be able to park again.. Very disappointed with storage in kitchen found very little room for large Xmas food shopping, found the basement very damp and the smell of damp would definitely stop anyone from using sofa bed. Found the lounge seating barely adequate for 14people at any one time.overall found the house ok warm and comfortable, after doing this Xmas holiday with family for 34 years felt a bit disappointed with the property. The house was well equipped and comfortable constant hot water which was a big plus and it was very warm. Skipton was beautiful and the house well located for all facilities. Fantastic meal at wooly sheep pub on Xmas eve and pie and mash cafe was brilliant, would definitely revisit Skipton.

Craven House Pros Easy walking distance to Skipton town centre. Good bus and train services from Skipton giving access to excellent walking in North Yorkshire. Supermarket around the corner. Lots of things to see and do in and around the area. Craven House Cons Directly onto a busy and noisy road. On road parking free 24/7 but spaces can be hard to come by. Front ‘garden’ suffers from traffic fumes and noise, also not enough room for everyone to sit together anyway. Just two benches and one seemed a bit iffy looking at the way the seat flexed. Back courtyard enclosed by high walls but enough seating for everyone. Craven House needs a good dose of TLC fresh paint, modern carpets etc. Unhygienic rugs in bathroom – yuk – and mouldy shower base mastic on top floor. Top floor double – wet carpet (had to leave window open all day for several days and use hairdryer) damp, musty smell. It also has a narrow wardrobe which will only allow clothes to be hung sideways. One bedroom on the second floor has NO wardrobe – either live out of your case or hang everything on the door!!! Kitchen needs sorting out. It is supposedly well equipped but – Only one sharp knife. Toaster will only toast 2 slices at a time as other slots are broken. Except for dinner plates there is not enough of the same crockery or wine glasses for 14. Chipped bowls and side plates are not pretty. Greasy oven trays – why? Dirty, in fact filthy, bread knife – the toothed edge was totally clogged. A mish mash of unnecessary and unusable glassware. Ancient tv which has ‘buzzy’ audio. I would post photographs if allowed to.

We had a family gathering of 13 adults and 3 babies in this large, very warm and quiet house conveniently situated in Skipton. It is well equipped and has a huge dining table which seats everyone. Beds are comfortable although the doubles are standard not king size, some ensuite rooms with baths. Well stocked kitchen with aga and dishwasher, loads of crockery and glasses; all is very clean. The house is close to the canal, shops and market and the castle. Lots to do in Skipton.
Mr Hollingworth, October 2019

Stayed here Friday to Monday for a girls weekend of socialising, shopping and sightseeing. Can't praise it highly enough. Huge living and dining rooms, easily accomodating 11 of us. Clean, spacious and welcomed by the very helpful owner. Beds comfortable and clean. Will definitely use it again. Not much outside space but that didn't affect us at this time of year. we had a great time.

October 2014
Lots of space which was great for our family gathering. The back garden was secluded with a BBQ and a wheelchair came in handy for my mother. My wife loved the AGA and we ate some lovely meals. The location of the property was great with a Tesco over the road and only a five minute walk to the centre of Skipton.
Mrs Drury
October 2014
We wanted to celebrate a special birthday to include several generations of the family under one roof. Craven House fitted the bill superbly with ample bedrooms, bathrooms, large comfortable lounge and dining room, all furnished to a high standard. The kitchen was huge and excellently kitted out with all the equipment you could need. The location was ideally close to the town especially for those who did not want to walk far. A great variety of nearby attractions suited all age levels and tastes. All this and a warm friendly welcome. Who could want for more?

October 2014
From the minute we opened the door we knew we had made the right choice. We were meeting up with family from New Zealand and wanted somewhere to have a family get together. The house was roomy and there was plenty of space for people to disappear if they wanted to be on there own. I loved the big family kitchen and the Aga was perfect, especially as I had about 25 people for lunch on the Sunday. The location was ideal and we were only a few minutes walk from Skipton and as parking was a bit of a problem, we tended to leave the car where it was. The location was also ideal to do the touristy bit, and we went to Leeds, York, Bolton Abbey, Billy Bobs Diner and in to Bradford to visit family. I have never felt that I could settle back in Yorkshire and have been away for 17 years, but staying here made me rethink. If I won the lottery tomorrow, I would definitely be making an offer to buy :-)
Mrs Bucknell

March 2014
We found this a lovely, warm, welcoming holiday home. The owner was very pleasant and helpful and we had a great weekend. There was also lots to do for ourselves and the kids in Skipton.
Mr Humphreys
March 2014
This is a large, well furnished, comfortable house with an excellent location with a five minute stroll to the town centre and even less to the supermarkets. Plenty of space for a larger group of people to spread themselves around in, and very well equipped. We spent a week in Craven House and would recommend it to any larger group or family that enjoys spending time in these types of properties.

March 2014
This is a large, well furnished, comfortable house with an excellent location with a five minute stroll to the town centre and even less to the supermarkets. Plenty of pace for a larger group of people to spread themselves around in, and very well equipped. We spent a week in Craven House and would recommend it to any larger group or family that enjoys spending time in these types of properties. The town of Skipton was surprisingly good and interesting enough to spend plenty of time looking around, and doing this more than once. We enjoyed our visit to Skipton Castle, and Howarth, Bolton Abbey and Settle made interesting half day trips within a comfortable 30 minute drive. Nothing we could find that could be criticized directly, but perhaps king sized double beds and showers rather than baths in some of the bathrooms would be better suited for some people, but that’s all we could think of, and this shouldn’t put anyone off booking Craven House. The property and Skipton are a delight.
Mr Radcliffe
December 2013
There was sufficient space for our growing family of 14 ranging from 6 to 64 to eat together, relax together or go and hide to be on your own. It's a comfortable place for all of us, illustrated by the fact that this was the 4th time we had all stayed, and won't be the last.

August 2013
Just come back from a week at Craven House. 14 family members aged 6 - 72. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful, lounge and dining room are homely and big enough to fit us all in and the kitchen provided a great space to prepare meals, we even managed to use the Aga instead of the gas oven. The location of Craven house is perfect, walking distance into Skipton and short drives to some amazing places, (kids loved Ilkley Lido) . Although the house is right near a big Tescos it was still lovely to find the cupboard full of left over essentials. This is a massive bonus and doesn't always happen when we go on our annual family week away. There is a small courtyard but the kids found the swingball and played it anytime we were home, they didn't once complain about the lack of grass. We would all definitely recommend this house.
Ms Rooke
April 2013
The house was fully equipped and very homely! We will definitely book again.

December 2012
It was my dad's 90th birthday and the property enabled the whole family to get together in one place. There were plenty of bathrooms and tons of hot water. Comfy sofas and a nice cosy atmosphere - beautifully decorated with some lovely old bits as well!

I loved the warmth as I walked through the door! And the aga, so great for cooking. There were lots of bathrooms to get everyone ready.

September 2012
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Craven House which was an ideal venue to celebrate our Golden wedding anniversary. The property is ideally situated near the centre of Skipton and all it's amenities and is a property large enough to accommodate families and groups. The children loved the downstairs 'den' and there was plenty of space for them to play without getting under everyone's feet. The house has a warm and welcoming feel to it and we felt it represented good value for money and would certainly book it again if we were looking for a large property to rent.
Mr Fanshawe
August 2012
A really enjoyable holiday, the house was like a home from home, very welcoming and comfortable. The location was fantastic, within walking distance of the town and amenities. Also very accommodating to our dog.

July 2012
We stayed in Craven House from Friday to Monday with a group of friends, we visit different towns twice a year (children free) - we went in October 2011. We found the house lovely and spacious, clean and comfortable. The lady who met us there was lovely and friendly too. We always draw for the rooms to make it fair, and me and the Hubby got the box room (we think it would have been the linen room at one time as the door opens outwards onto the landing and is very small), this wasn't too much of a problem apart from the fact there wasn't enough space for a wardrobe (just a set of drawers) so our clothes were hung on the back of the door, a bit of a pain if you are staying longer than the weekend. The house is so close to the centre of town, which is lovely (please eat at The Woolly Sheep - amazing food) and although on a main road, it was fairly quiet at night, and there are roads surrounding the property to park on - we had 5 cars between us and no-one had a problem - although it was October. We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone.
Ms Scruton
June 2012

October 2011
This is a good house in a great location, everything on the doorstep for Skipton, and Skipton is a great base. Only problem really was that one of the bedrooms didn't have a wardrobe so guests had to live of coathangers on the back of the door for a week, not on really!
Mr Lloyd
August 2011
Loved the space in the house, with a big party, there was plenty of room and enough bathrooms/showers for all. The house would be our dream home, second time we have stayed in it and it is ideally situated to visit a number of National Trust properties nearby.
Mrs King
July 2011
The house was lovely and had everything we needed. Although there were 14 of us we didn't get under each others feet and there was space for the children to play too. The location was ideal being central for lots of outings and necessary shops, pubs, chemist etc were all nearby.

May 2011
A group of family and friends with 3 small children, we found Craven House to have everything we needed. Plenty of bathrooms and ensuites, large well-equipped kitchen with aga. The house was well heated. In a good position for most things - Tesco literally round the corner, and the centre of Skipton an easy walk. Lovely park for the children within walking distance. Excellent pub for meals on the roundabout on the Keighly Road. Downside of going in March was nearby children's farms weren't open till april. Railway also restricted times then.

May 2011
great house, big and clean, a short walk from the middle of skipton, and round the corner from a large supermarket. fronts onto a busy road, which would probably make parking outside difficult at busy times, but we went in march, and had no problems. Plenty of pubs and places to eat within a short walk, with the villages and walks of the yorkshire dales a short drive out of skipton.
Mr Gynne
April 2011

This house was ideal for a family reunion - we had 3 families living here for most of the 2 weeks including 3 children from age 3 weeks to age 3 years there was sufficient room and facilities for all. We traveled from USA, Manila and Sunderland so a very mixed party. Town, park and all amenities are very close.

This cottage is great for large groups and we would highly recommend it. It is superbly equipped, very cosy, immaculately clean and a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. On the down side it is on a busy road and parking can be a bit difficult but this in no way detracted from the experience. We are already talking about a return visit in a couple of years.

The wonderful location with ease of access to shops, the town centre and public transport. The house was very comfortable and welcoming. We had enough keys to enable the very mixed group to undertake a variety of activities each day. Would thoroughly recommend this property to adult groups.
