Self-Catering Chy Lagen Hos in Newquay

With the nightmare of the Corona virus upon us and a planned cruise still not cancelled by TUi we decided to book what we thought would be a safer option by staying in England and visiting Cornwall. It was important to us to have a central location for visiting all the lovely places and somewhere with peaceful surroundings where we could switch off and relax after our headland walks and days out. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were met by Simon the co-owner of the property who kindly brought us two bottles of wine and some eggs from their chickens that stroll around the beautiful grounds together with the highly entertaining ducks. I would also like to say how helpful and friendly Simon and his wife Helen were and how we enjoyed a tour around the garden which is really stunning and would add that photographs just don't do it justice. The bungalow is a large, open plan, beautifully finished property with everything you need, with TV's in both bedrooms and a really large TV on the wall in the living room, all 3 are smart TV's with Netflix, You-Tube etc. The bedrooms are both en-suite with plenty of storage, the kitchen is fully equipped, even a dishwasher. There is a separate toilet and a utility with a washing machine and drier, so it really is a home from home and has all you need for a long stay. Outside there is a very large decking/patio area which has to be seen to be appreciated and when you first go outside the view is quite jaw dropping, a large pond with landscaped gardens wrapping around it and total seclusion and privacy. At night it is deadly quiet, apart from the occasional quack, we had a great nights sleep. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful place, and to praise the owners for making you feel so welcome and for helping to make our stay such a lovely relaxing experience.

This is a great property, furnished and equipped to a high standard. We couldn't fault it, everything was spotlessly clean and everything worked as it should. The interior design is particularly striking and it is immediately obvious just how much thought went into making this a nice place to spend time and relax. Helen and Simon, the owners couldn't be more welcoming or helpful, the very generous welcome pack they left us included delicious free range eggs from their chickens and ducks, the latter were also a constant source of amusement. The property overlooks a stunning garden and is within a few minutes walk of serveral pubs and a small shop and just a short drive to a large supermarket. Would definitely recommend.

This was our second time staying at Chy Lagen Hos and certainly won’t be our last.. It was a treat to have the woodburner lit especially after experiencing the boisterous ocean during the afternoons. Bringing our bikes next time for the Camel Trail and Carinham Woods. Can’t wait.

It was very relaxing being able to sit out on the decking and enjoy the view over the owners garden.. The property is centrally situated allowing all the main tourist sites to be visited in no more than 90 mins.

A really lovely place to stay both in terms of the accommodation and its position for accessing so many places we wanted to visit.. The decking overlooking the gardens and the duck pond was a real bonus and was a great place to sit and relax. The owners had thoughtfully provided us with welcome "goodies" which were much appreciated. The whole place had a "wow" factor and we would definitely return there. One of the best places in which we have stayed.

Leaving was difficult as we found Chy Lagen Hos to be so comfortable, well equipped and in a perfect location.. I have a feeling we may be back! It's obvious a lot of thought went into renovating the property. We loved the private decking overlooking the duck pond, which was full of characters of the bird variety! Inside was equally as stunning - furnished to a very high standard with great facilities. The owners Simon and Helen were lovely and had provided an amazing welcome hamper of local produce, including eggs from their hens. If you want to explore Cornwall this property is situated in a great, peaceful location to do so. We would happily recommend a stay here to anyone. Thanks Simon and Helen

We both walked through the door and said WOW in unison.. Quality fixtures, amazing showers, decking area larger than appears on photos and the duck pond which was lovely to look at and amusing to observe the anticts of different types of ducks, hens and dragonflies etc. Expected lots of flies but no - just on the pond. There’s also a separate w.c. that isn’t mentioned in details. Very convenient location for lots of places to visit. We
