Property Description

Nestling in a private sheltered cove on the shores of Killary harbour and having been recently renovated to a high standard our cottage is the perfect hideaway for your main holiday or a short escape break. Set amidst the spectacular Delphi mountain wilderness yet close to leisure, adventure, food and drink amenities, its location on the Wild Atlantic Way makes it an ideal touring base for your holiday in Connemara.

There are a huge number of activities possible in our area: go boating on the Killary Fjord, try the many nearby walking and cycling routes, spend time pier fishing or jumping! Or accompany us as we tend to the many animals and crops on our adjacent organic farm. A welcome pack of fresh produce and turf/firewood is standard and included in the price. A daily package of adventure activities including surfing can be arranged by the owners if requested in advance.

I am a family orientated, coffee loving gardner who likes to keep up with cookery trends. As you'll see on the following pages I live in a beautiful remote area where I like to walk with my dogs, Rafa and Brinkley. My secret passion is interior design and I hope you will love what I have done with the cottage.....So let me show you a real Irish welcome in this stunningly beautiful part of Ireland.

We stayed in this wonderful cottage for 5 nights and wished it could have been SO much longer. The renovated cottage is full of charm, with great attention to detail, and all the modern conveniences. The big glass windows in the dining area and master bedroom allowed us to enjoy the Bundorragha River’s ever-changing scene as well as a magnificent full moon one night. Sheep, birds, even Brinkley the owner’s dog came into view. Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom spic-and-span clean. The living room with wood stove was a cozy and nice retreat on the one rainy day we experienced during our stay. The owner, Deirdre, had a fire going for us when we arrived and also provided a good supply of turf and wood for our stay. We were also warmly welcomed by her with a freshly made cake, eggs and lettuce fresh from the farm. The kitchen was supplied with everything we needed and I knew that all I would have to do was ask and Deirdre would have provided. We have rented close to a dozen times in Ireland and Deirdre is one of the most accommodating hosts we’ve ever met. It’s no wonder her cottage reflects her generous personality. The location is equally amazing. The cottage is tucked away off a main road so we felt like we were truly away from it all, but in fact we had easy access for popping into Leenane, exploring the Connemara, driving the scenic road to Louisburgh and the haunting Doolough Pass, or just walking down to the pier after dinner. There is so much to see in this area we barely touched the surface and can’t wait to return. This is not your cookie-cutter rental — it has soul.
