The Cottage: Cor na Mona is a real hidden gem of Mayo and even the country. The eastern
edge of the area comes down to the shores of Lough Corrib while the western edge borders
the scenic upland area of An Mám, the Maam Valley and the Maumturk Mountains. It is a
popular site among trout and salmon anglers.
This Gealtacht village is part of the Joyces country region and the new Geopark Project . Whether you are looking for an active break away, or just some stunning scenery this region has it all. The house is located on the great
Seanbothar Walk which takes you on a lovely quiet walk along boreens to Clonbur. Enjoy a great meal or pint in
Burkes of Clonbur when you arrive.
The charming village of Cong is just a 15 min drive away where the famous “The Quiet
Man” movie was made. Why not treat yourself to afternoon tea in Ashford Castle
Leenane is just 15 mins in the other direction – where the mountains come down to the sea. Take a boat trip on Irelands only Fjord or just take in the great village of Cor na Mona itself with it’s beautiful lake side location.
There is a local shop, cosy bar and a large playground for the smaller ones.
Inside: This bungalow has a lovely family feel from it. To the front of the house there is a
large bright sitting room with an open fire. Down the hall you will come to a homely kitchen
and dining area – a real hub of the house with built in seats beside the stove. the kitchen has
all you may need to cook up a storm. Out the back door is a nice lawn area to enjoy.
Further down the hallway you will find a single, double and twin room all with great space
and storage. The bathroom has recently been completely renovated with a large walk-in
shower.
Outside there are 2 small lawn areas.
