Not the best experience! We had no electricity for the first 20 minutes after arriving, so we couldn't even make a coffee after a long journey. The house is falling apart. The electricity tripped multiple times due to a leaking bathtub, making it dangerous to bath a baby. The upstairs toilet is about to fall through the floor, causing the toilet seat to move every time you sit down. Subsidence cracks are everywhere, leading to damp issues in every bedroom, especially the downstairs one, which smelled very fusty. The shower room had black mould. The downstairs bathroom tap was noisy and vibrating, and the kitchen sink leaked, making it clear the house isn’t maintained. There was no outdoor space big enough for children to play. The travel cot smelled fusty, so we had to buy a replacement. The house was extremely dusty, and the fridge was unclean on arrival.
This place is not dog-friendly at all, and the owner is extremely rude. She interrupted our dinner to complain about our dog pooing in the garden, implying our dog was untrained. We cleaned up after him and didn’t see the problem, but we were told we were disgusting. There was a list of pet owner instructions, but this wasn’t included. She wasn’t happy with the amount of rubbish we had and wanted us to break it down, which would have been fine if told beforehand or politely.
We paid over £1,000 to stay here, only to be treated like idiots and made to feel like an inconvenience by an owner who has zero respect for guests. This made us uncomfortable for the rest of our stay and unwilling to report any issues, fearing it would be our fault.
The only positive is the ideal location for visiting places in the Lakes, and the view from the garden is lovely.
