The cottage and location were excellent, very clean and tidy and everything worked as it should do.. (Apart from the lock in the main bathroom which had to have a good slam to make it shut).l know l should have mentioned it to Mrs Proctor but we didn't get the opportunity. Other than that everything else was great and we look forward to going back next year.
There are so many things to love about this property.. Spotlessly clean with crisp white bed linen, fluffy towels, top quality furnishings and every home comfort thought of such as fresh milk, wine and a fruit cake awaiting when we arrived. Friendly helpful owners, and what a setting - the really well kept grounds perfect for sitting out on the decking and peacefully enjoying the Northumberland countryside.

Our arrival at Apple Tree Lodge couldn't have been nicer.. The Procters were very friendly and the welcome pack was lovely. The accommodation and grounds were immaculate and stunning. Absolutley all our needs and more were catered for, you truly have thought of everything. Thank you so much for our stay there we would highly recommend it!!

Lovely lodge with better than expected furnishings etc.. My grandchildren really enjoyed the small play area.
Mrs Evans, July 2019
Apple tree cottage is a luxurious lodge with loads of space, great finishings and a super garden to enjoy.. It is peaceful and the very thoughtful extras which were included, such as homemade bread, wine and biscuits on arrival were a lovely touch. We had a very relaxing stay with everything we could have hoped for in a self- catering lodge and much more! We would definitely recommend it and would very happily stay there again if we are back in that area.

Apple Tree Lodge is a very clean and well appointed pine lodge in the grounds of Old Swarland Hall.. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, Mrs Proctor, who had left us wine, biscuits and freshly made bread. All in all a well a beautiful place to enjoy what the area has to offer.
We had originally booked different accommodation but was told by Sykes, in November, that it was not available due to scheduled maintenance issues. This seemed odd as you would think any issues would be sorted through the winter months rather than in mid to high season. When we visited the site of the original accommodation, there were no signs of maintenance anywhere. What actually happened I do not know but we were very happy with our second choice and would certainly book it again.
The cottage was really well presented, very clean and comprehensively equipped.. The weather during the first full week of May was cold and wet - just as well then that the cottage was so good. Mr and Mrs Proctor were really friendly and helpful - we would recommend this property without a second thought. Thank you.
Ideal situation for the sites of Northumberland.. In lovely countryside but close to the coast. Very helpful and friendly hosts.
The Lodge was exactly as described and included a lovely welcome pack.. The owners were extreemly welcoming ,friendly and helpful. Very quiet and peaceful. Several gastro pubs nearby and all but one welcomed our dog. Fantastic beaches nearby and lots to do.
This is a lovely, spacious family holiday house.. We were there for Christmas and the welcome pack and Christmas decorations were much appreciated. The only criticisms would be the excessive number of scatter cushions in every room and the artificial plants - all of which had to be moved out of the way during our stay. The other thing that caused us some discomfort was the very small television high up on the wall in the corner of the room - not good!
Apart from our visits to Alnwick Castle and gardens, seeing the Puffins on the Inner Farne, and visiting the best pound for pound attraction I have been to in many years at Beamish, the apart but was Mrs Proctor the owner.. She was the icing on the cake for us. Always a smile and nothing too much trouble for her. The property was spotlessly clean, well furnished and with all facilities. The property is ideally situated as a base to visit the many attractions in Northumberland. Staying at Apple Lodge is a pleasure, you could do a lot worse but it would be very difficult to do any better.
Lovely lodge, clean, excellent facilities.. Great location to visit the area. Friendly and welcoming hosts. Thoroughly recommend.
Very nice welcoming owner who was there if needed but not intrusive in any way..
This is a luxury lodge in beautiful surroundings not too far from Alnwick and Rothbury and sandy beaches at Alnmouth,Bamburgh. Embleton and Druridge Bays one could not ask for more for family holidays Excellent comfortable accommodation and welcomed by the owner with home made bread and cake and a bottle of wine. Highly reccomended
IDDYLIC location convenient for beaches and ALNWICK CASTLE and CRAGSIDE
The cottage worked brilliantly for my elderly mother with limited movement
Really enjoyable stay at the lodge over new year.. Christmas decorations and welcome treats a really nice touch. Very quiet and peaceful location close to the coast and woodland walks with the dog. Kids loved the outside play area.
Mr & Mrs Proctor are very approachable, they had thought about the essentials on arrival, wine, cake and bread, very thoughtful.. The lodges are extremely comfortable, very warm and very clean. All facilities are modern and efficient, hot water is plentiful and the heating can be set to just how you like it. The location is just about right, it is a very rural position but only 10mins away from shops, public house etc. The lodges are within a working farm environment so you will get the sounds and smells that go with farming, so don't be surprised when they are feeding the cattle at 7.30 in the morning, although we never heard anything once inside the lodge. Overall a great weeks holiday in a nice location with friendly hosts who try to think of everything.
Owners were most helpful, and the accommodation was excellent in every way..
The property was of outstanding quality and beautifully kept. The owner was very nice and friendly and helpful. The Lodge was 'off the beaten track' and lovely and quiet, just what we wanted, absolutely top notch. As a family we generally rent detached cottages/cabins/lodges and this is as good as anything we have rented, at any price!
