Florence has a high enough density of sights that you can stay anywhere and not be far from something, but Youth Lyric stands out in this regard. It’s on the corner of Piazza del Duomo, with the Baptistry directly outside the front door. Despite this, the flat is surprisingly quiet (with the windows shut, of course), and while it isn’t huge, it works perfectly as a base from which to explore the city. And when some of the most famous churches and museums in Europe are so easy to reach, you’re unlikely to be spending too much time inside anyway.

*While it's still quite high, the shower does feel a little small, particularly for taller guests.
*As it's so central, you can expect a lot of tourists to pass by on the street below.
