Within the village, you will also a plethora of amenities including a village shop and post office, a school, a country pub, and several small specialist shops. As well as the notable parish church, the village plays host to a carved tomb of Sir George Sydenham, the father-in-law of Sir Francis Drake and a rare medieval stone pulpit, one of only two in Somerset, just two of the many historical highlights within the area. On the doorstep are the Quantock Hills and the majestic landscape of the Exmoor National Park, both of which provide excellent walks and opportunity to discover breath-taking scenery. Alternatively, you could head further afield to the town of Taunton, where you will be spoilt for choice by the selection of amenities that are waiting or during the summer months, travel to Minehead for a day at the beach. Other attractions from here include Cleeve Abbey, Tropiquaria Wildlife Park and the National Trust owned property, Coleridge Cottage. All-in-all, Stogumber is a great base for touring Somerset and beyond.
