The pretty Northumberland village of Powburn is situated in the foothills of the Cheviots. The village has a shop and a wide range of amenities in the nearby market town of Alnwick. It makes an ideal base for exploring the Northumberland National Park, the castle gardens and The Treehouse Restaurant. The spectacular coastline, and towns of Wooler and Rothbury, as well as the well known National Trust country house and gardens are all within easy reach.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Unfortunately there was an overpowering smell from the oil boiler.. It permeated the whole home. I did let the owner know and he has responded. Also the Internet network didn't connect, there was no hair dryer (which I assumed would be there as they always are in other holiday homes). Overall the standard was lower than I am used to and I take UK holidays twice yearly staying in often cheaper but much higher standard houses/cottages.

Ramblers cottage is perfectly placed, ideal for countryside walks in the Cheviots or a short drive for those who prefer the coast.. The cottage is well equipped, welcoming, clean and tastefully decorated. Would go again and recommend to others.

Lovely well presented cottage ideal for visiting Northumberland's many attractions.. It had been recently redecorated The pub in the village is currently closed, nearest pub is about 2miles away
