At the mouth of the River Esk in North Yorkshire's Scarborough region sits the seaside town and port of Whitby. The area is perfectly positioned for visiting this stunning region of Yorkshire, and it offers a wide range of activities so you can make the most of both the countryside and the seaside. There is something for everyone in this area, from the adjacent North York Moors to its Blue Flag beaches. Among its many attractions, Whitby has a beautiful ambience with meandering streets and obscure alleys that are home to a variety of restaurants and businesses. Visit the charming harbour and lighthouse to see the sun go down, or go whale watching or go on a tour. Check out Whitby Abbey or take a trip to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum or jump in the car and head to nearby towns such as Scarborough, Robin Hood's Bay and Middlesbrough. Whitby is the perfect base for exploring North Yorkshire.
