Platform 12 is a terraced cottage in the centre of Whitby in North Yorkshire. It provides two bedrooms, comprising of a double and a twin room, there is also a family bathroom and a cloakroom, the property can sleep four people. The interior also boasts an open plan living area hosting a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area. The outside comes with plenty of off road parking and off of the double bedroom sits an enclosed courtyard garden with furniture. Platform 12 is extremely well-placed for a holiday exploring Whitby and the surrounding area.

Area
Whitby is at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideal for exploring this part of Yorkshire, with its coast and the North York Moors nearby. It has winding streets and alleys, with a harbour, safe beaches and the Abbey. There is a wide range of amenities and a series of restaurants overlooking the river. The popular seaside resort of Scarborough sits nearby for a thrilling day out.

Region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Ample off road parking. Enclosed courtyard with furniture (accessed through double bedroom). Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop and pub 5 mins walk. Note: There are seven steps down to the property. Note: Four trains, plus steam trains, pass by property between 8.30am and 7.15pm daily, some associated noise may be heard. This property does not accept pets Note: This property is for adults only.

Platform 12 is a lovely cottage located close enough to the main part of Whitby, but away from all the hustle and bustle.. The owners have made a real (and successful!) effort to make the cottage feel very welcoming with the well thought out pictures, ornaments and cushions etc but at the same time have managed to create an uncluttered fresh feel inside. The bed in the main room was very comfortable. The smaller bedroom is quite tight on space and perhaps would not suit 2 older teenagers or adults - but it is a comfortable, nice looking room. There is car parking (for one car) directly outside the property - which is a useful and important bonus! Having stayed in Whitby many times, this is definitely one of our preferred cottages and will be back!

The accommodation was brilliant with excellent facilities including a very comfortable bed (which is always my big concern).. It was very central. The railway ran alongside the ground floor part of the accommodation but did not cause any disturbance; trains not too frequent and it was great when the steam train would go past and we'd wave!!! A really homely cottage. A real bonus is parking. Everything within comfortable walking distance. The only thing to be aware of is steps if this is a problem.

Diane & Stewart have a lovely cottage, well equipped and perfectly situated for central Whitby, 2 min stroll to town.. The trains are a nice sight and not a bother at all when they do pass. All in all platform 12 is just perfect for a short break, everything you need is provided and it’s right on the doorstep for town. My one tip would be to do your food shopping before you get there as the Co-op is the only major store close and as such you’re a hostage to their prices.

There were 4 adults in our party and the second bedroom was very small - probably ok for children but not so much for adults.. Its not a complaint - just an observation and it might have even mentioned this in the advertisement and I might have missed it. Otherwise the cottage was great.

Beautiful little cottage and so close to the town.. We weren’t bothered in the least by the trains, but slightly disappointed we didn’t see a steam train. Nice kitchen area and lovely bathroom. All maintained to a great standard. Great to have a parking spot too. On street parking is busy though. My husband came across after work meaning we had 2 cars. One parking space should be adequate for just about everyone though.
