There is something for everyone in this area, from the adjacent North York Moors to its Blue Flag beaches. Among its many attractions, Whitby has a beautiful ambience with meandering streets and obscure alleys that are home to a variety of restaurants and businesses. Visit the charming harbour and lighthouse to watch the sun go down or go whale watching or on a coastal cruise to see the wildlife up close. To immerse yourself in history, ascend the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey or go to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, which features a historical and anthropological display about Cook himself. Whitby is a fantastic location for discovering all that Yorkshire has to offer. It is close to Robin Hood's Bay, rich in history, wonders, and scenic areas, and is easily accessible from the thriving towns of Scarborough and Middlesbrough.
