Odd Sock Cottage is a delightful apartment set over the first, second and third floors, overlooking the picturesque upper harbour in Whitby and can sleep four people. There is a third floor double bedroom, a second floor twin bedroom, a second floor bathroom and a first floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with electric fire. Parking on the East side in Whitby can be tricky, free parking spaces on Church Street are snapped up quickly, however, numerous pay and display car parks on the West side and a small public car park within 5 minutes walk on the East side.

Accomodation Details
Over first, second and third floors. Two bedrooms: 1 x third floor open-plan double, 1 x second floor twin, both accessed via steep stairs. Second floor bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. First floor open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with electric fire.

Area
Whitby is one of the most popular locations in North Yorkshire. Situated close to the River Esk it spans up the coast amongst some of the region's finest scenery. The town is rich with historical landmarks and the coastal waters give way to fossils which you can dig up on your own or buy from local vendors. The well-preserved architecture, such as Whitby Abbey, has appeared in some very famous movies and television series. Now lying in ruins, Whitney Abbey is a local landmark that towers almost two hundred steps above the historic St. Mary's Church. Local lore speculates that Dracula himself was laid to rest on the church grounds. In addition to the Abbey, the town itself has a large amount of shopping, fine dining, and theatres to keep you occupied during your tour of this lovely seaside resort.

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Odd Sock cottage is a fantastic cottage.. It was very clean and well stocked with everything you'd need. The furnishings including the bed are of good quality and we had a lovely relaxing holiday. The location of the cottage is good and the view from the front window is amazing. Communication with the owners was very good . The only negative is the parking it was quite difficult finding a space on this side of the river but there was always plenty over the other side,

The cottage is very well equipped with all you need iron & board ,hairdryer .... The cottage is very well equipped with all you need iron & board ,hairdryer ,loo roll salt&pepper even washing up liquid & t towel It did take abit to work out the remote control fire but we got there in the end I also left my jacket in the wardrobe which the owners are thankfully arranging to post back to me

The cottage was everything as advertised modern clean well equipped .. The way in was a little bit off putting the steps up could do with a good clean and tidy up but once in the cottage it was perfect would definitely recommend as we would love to go back next year

A home from home is always what you hope for and that is exactly what we got at Odd Socks.. A warm, cosy, filled with cute trinkets home. There wasn’t anything we didn’t need and had a very comfortable stay. It was clean, well furnished, bright and spacious. Would love to return and will always recommend. This is a lovely place to stay.. The location is perfect with super views of the upper harbour from all the windows. Very clean and comfortable. Well equipped and nicely decorated. Steps to access the property and narrow staircases in the property so probably wouldn't suit the elderly or infirm. My husband and I stayed here twice in 2019 and we are looking forward to our next stay in 2020.

On arrival the apartment was everything we wanted for our Christmas break it was very clean with beautiful furniture and a real home from home.. It was extremely cold on entering as the heating was on a very low heat level and I don’t think there had been any occupants the previous week to air it through!! We turned the heating on full and also tried to use the gas fire but it wouldn’t light at all. This made the upstairs unbearably hot but still very cold in the living areas and a draught seemed to be coming from somewhere. We contacted the owner about this but he said that due to it being the Christmas period he had been unable to find anyone to fix the problem with the fire. Perhaps it would be a good idea to provide some kind of portable heater especially at this time of year. Other than this we had a great time in Odd Sock Cottage and would gladly return but probably in the warmer months.

Brilliant week at Odd Sock Cottage aided by the best weather of the year so far.. The cottage had many nice touches to make it feel homely. Excellent views of the Marina and Whitby. Very relaxing. Only 5 minutes to walk into the shops etc. Parking is a problem although we did find a spot outside the cottage and left the car there all week. Just one downside with the cottage which is a problem with most cottages near the town centre - lack of outside private space to sit in.

Odd Sockets cottage is a wonderful place.. It's close to everything but just far enough to be out of all the hassle and bustle of the main town centre. We enjoy being able to sit looking out over the harbour in the evening. We will be back.

A really lovely comfy home from home cottage.. There were no issues... Very well equipped kitchen, extremely comfortable beds and very clean. Location perfect on the quieter side of the river, close to the town. Car parking wasn't an issue at this time of year, however it possibly may become a little challenging in high season. We would certainly book again without hesitation. Although there is a lock up small garage we didn't make use of it.

Wonderful cosy cottage.. Facilities were excellent. Its the little things that make all the difference - Quality washing up bowl, sweet painted mousehole, good selection of books and games. Clear directions and excellent communication from David and Barbara. We have already recommended this gem to friends. We have stayed in a number of self catering places in Whitby, but this is the one we'll be coming back to from now on. Superb.

We really enjoyed our stay at Odd Sock Cottage.. From the moment we opened the door to this quirky little cottage we felt at home. We loved the fabulous views of the river and Marina on all 3 floors. Ideally located the town centre is just a very short walk away. It was clean, cosy and the beds really comfortable. We would defininitely book Odd Sock Cottage again.

The cottages is lovely with some nice touches such as a welcome tray and a chocolate by your bed, the views are to die for could sit looking at it all day, location is great, close to all amenities.. The kitchen is very well equipped with good quality utensils. Only negative thing is parking can be very busy not always guaranteed a space. Would stay again without a doubt such a lovely comfortable, relaxing place.

Lovely cottage, with everything you might need.. We managed to park across the road ( no designated parking) and then didn't use the car! Plenty to see, do and eat within walking distance ( trains and buses also available).
