Hawthornden is a single-storey annexe attached to the owner's home, two miles from the town of Filey. The cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms which are made up of a double with an en-suite shower room and a twin room which has zip/link beds which can be a king-size double on request. There is also a family bathroom and an open plan living area with a kitchen, dining area and a sitting area with a woodburner. Outside there is off road parking for one car and additional roadside parking, bike storage and an enclosed patio with a lawned area, furniture and barbecue. Hawthornden is a well placed cottage for an enjoyable holiday at any time of year.

All ground floor. Two bedrooms: 1 x double with en-suite shower, basin and WC, 1 x twin (zip/link, can be king-size double on request). Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with woodburner.

Area
Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels.

Region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

This is such a beautiful bungalow so private and peaceful great outdoor space lovely garden furniture inside is stunning very open large lounge,kitchen,dining with large windows 2 bathrooms and 2 very spacious bedrooms all spotless clean car is on a locked drive so very safe excellent booked for next year

Good location for sight seeing.. Knew of the holiday park behind accommodation but not too noisy. Didn’t know of owners children who played in garden, was noisy but not often. First impressions was clean but looked closer and was disappointed especially in these times. Couldn’t be confident that every surface had been sanitized, spent time doing it ourselves. Overall a place to recommend.

We had a lovely time at the cottage.. It is very spacious, comfortable and lovely and warm. It was incredibly quiet over Christmas which was lovely but not sure what it would be like in the summer as next door to a caravan site. It is only a ten minute walk to a fantastic beach so we were on it everyday with our dog, she loved it. The house and garden are very dog friendly. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We would certainly recommend this cottage to family and friends.

The property is located on a really nice quiet street not too far from a gorgeous wide and long sandy beach.. The owners of the property were nice, friendly and unobtrusive. A lovely walk to Filey town centre takes approximately 45 mins along the beach and is little quicker taking the path on the Cliff top. Other places going in the opposite direction is Reighton sands and Bempton cliffs which is a bird sanctuary. Even though our stay was over the Christmas/New year period the weather was very kind to us. There is quite a large Holiday homes park nearby so I can only comment on the time of year we were there as it may get busier during the summer season. All in all we had a really nice time.

I stayed in Hawthornden with my daughter for a week and found this to be a lovely place to stay, it is attached to the owners home, but you wouldn't know as it's very private, it was spotlessly clean and tidy, the log burner was very efficient and you can buy logs from the owner, there is easy access to Filey, Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby, the village of Hunmanby is a favourite of mine and would recommend The White Swan and Piebald for eating out.. I would definitely recommend Hawthornden to family and friends and will return the next time I am staying in this area

We stayed here with our dog for 4 nights, the cottage was comfortable, clean and had plenty of room in all rooms, there's a small room with the washer, iron etc in. There are wall heaters you can switch on and a wood burner if you need to use it, the garden is enclosed and private with plenty of room for our dog to run around and play ball. The beds were comfy and not hard . You can see rabbit's and squirrels in the next garden which is the owners from your side window , Walking distance to the beach and Primrose valley shop etc. And not too far to visit other towns . This cottage is ideal place to visit beaches and walks with your dog without driving too far. I do recommend staying here .

Hawthornden Cottage was beautiful and local to plenty of places to walk to.. It was extremely easy to book through Sykes and everything went really smoothly. This is definitely a cottage we will return to in the near future.

Enjoyed our holiday the weather was beautiful the accommodation was well furnished and dog friendly. Did a lot of walking around the Primrose Valley site which has greatly improved. Visited Coble landing on Bank Holiday Monday - it was packed!! with day trippers, a little overbearing for my little dog. Also visited Scarborough which has had a revamp very much improved and walked along to Sea Life all very clean and tidy. The East Coast is on the rise to attract more visitors. LeTour Yorkshire starts 4 May 2019. We will be back of course. Thank Mandy & James and the boys on their Easter Egg hunt.

Lovely property, well situated for local resorts like Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington etc.. Easy access to the beach for a walk to Filey (about an hour). Property clean and tidy, nice secure garden for the dog to wander around, we had a wonderful break.

This cottage certainly had the wow factor.. It had everything that we could possibly need and more. The weather was very kind to us and we sat out in the lovely private garden. The bus service is very good and the bus stop is very near. The walk along the beach to Filey was easy even for two recycled teenagers like ourselves. We loved it and hope to be back age permitting....

Hawthornden is an excellent cottage.. Well heated including a log burner. A very high standard of figments. High quality of upkeep throughout. Well positioned for access to a number of seaside towns also York. We have rented several cottages but this is possibly the best so far. Recommend a visit to Eden Camp, a WW2 POW Camp, now a museum, thought provoking. Give yourself time, much to read and see.

We went in early March and some days it was cold and wet, so we really appreciated the modern and very efficient wood burner in the main living area.. The only criticism l could make was that there was only one tea towel provided for the week so l bought 2 more in Filey which l brought home with me, but the owners house is adjoining and they were very helpful so would probably have provided more tea towels if l had asked.

This place is a little 'gem' it's spacious; well equipped; dog friendly; spotlessly clean and in a lovely quiet area.. The situation of Hawthornden is great for all the coastal towns and just a ten minute walk to beach. February half term was really quite cold but this place was always cosy after our walks. We would have booked again for July but unfortunately it's fully booked.

A wonderful base to explore the local fossil sites, a handy garage and pub close by.. would visit again maybe earlier in the year. the bungalow had every thing you could want for a great stay. I would have liked a hook in bathroom for dressing gowns, but really that is nit picking. well done to you both for a lovely stay.

No bread knife or sharp knife for cutting meat or cheese.. Washing machine was dirty , would not do my washing in it. But the rest of the accommodation was clean and comfortable. Location was perfect for the beach and visiting other places.

We had an enjoyable break , the beach isn't to far away We went in Jan so everywhere was quiet , very close to Primrose Valley so in the summer i imagine the area would be very busy.

A really nice place, very clean, warm and comfortable.. Spacious enclosed private patio and garden, which adjoins the owner's garden. Lovely outlook. This accommodation also borders Primrose Valley Caravan Park, but you would never know that as it cannot be seen or heard from the property, but visitors are able to access the camp easily if they wish to do so. The owner's are really welcoming and friendly. Fantastic walks along beach(10mins away) which is dog friendly. We had a wonderful week, and found Hawthornden at Primrose Valley a great place to stay.
