Richmond is an historic market town.

The town and imposing Norman castle are within easy walking distance and the front of the cottage looks directly across to the castle's south curtain wall. In addition to the castle, which has a great view from the top of the Keep or Great Tower, Richmond has a unique Georgian Theatre Royal, as well as twisting, cobbled lanes, small local museums and a fascinating mix of architecture.
