Area Thirsk is known as the gateway to the North York Moors National Park and is also within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It houses a market place, Georgian buildings, a cinema, a Norman church, a leisure centre and a wealth of pubs, shops and restaurants. It also houses the World of James Herriott Museum, where you can discover the town's famous vet and author.
Region The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
