The pretty village of Hawkshead is renowned for its links to Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth and both literary figures are celebrated in the village s National Trust properties. Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are both situated within five miles of the property and offer plenty of opportunities for boat rides, water sports, and scenic walks around their shores. The real joy of this cottage is it allows guests to explore the pretty cobbled yards of the village and surrounding countryside without ever using the car. This quaint cottage was once the village police house and is tucked away behind the main village square. From the small cobbled yard, guests enter the property directly into the cosy lounge, complete with beams and open fire with slate surround. There is comfortable seating for four to sit and enjoy the TV, perfect for relaxing after a day's exploring the Lake District.
