As a group of six ‘over sixty’ friends we had a wonderful blustery week at ‘Seagrass’.. I had originally booked it for a three generation family holiday but had to change our plans because of a very early new arrival. It would have worked equally well for the family, however.
As adults it was perfectly positioned for all of our plans, from St.Ives to Padstow to The Eden Project to stunning coastal walks.
The house itself is beautifully modern and the ‘upside down’ open plan nature of the layout is a real winner. Even on a stormy Saturday the lashing of rain on the floor to ceiling windows was dramatically romantic!
The kitchen was excellently equipped (although The Stove cooker was a little complicated!) and the bathrooms very modern. Linens were excellent and the house cosy and well insulated.
An enclosed garden remained unused by us but would be great for children. We were too busy to take advantage of it and the weather wasn’t quite conducive to barbecueing.
Crantock is a lovely unspoilt village with a great village shop and local pub. The beach is stunningly beautiful although I would say that it isn’t an ideal beach for young children because of the tidal estuary. They would, though, have fun on the sand and in the sand dunes.
I would highly recommend ‘Seagrass’ for any time of year if you are a lover, as we are, of Cornwall.
