Lovely cozy cottage. Very well equipped. Dogs loved their welcome pack as did the humans. Upper decked area of the garden is lovely to sit with a coffee. Although the initial step to the lower garden is steep it isn't too bad and accessible by most. The dogs loved the lower part to sniff around. The cottage is in an excellent location to access fantastic local walks. Wooler has so much to offer. All coastal attractions require a very short car journey. Communication with host is 1st class. Belinda the caretaker is on hand to assist with any issues, we had none.

In the time that Covid-19 Is gripping hold of the country, I was very nervous in taking my young family to an unknown home.. I was pleasantly surprised by the degree of cleanliness and care which put me and my family at ease immediately. We had a wonderful time and am sure that we will try and return again. The owners, Jeff and Issie were very pleasant and helpful beyond my expectations. Thank you very much.

The cottage was really clean and a good system had been put in place to account for Covid-19, everything was thoroughly cleaned and rotated between guests.. Pre-stay information from the owners was really useful. Wooler has a Co-op and for a small town it has plenty of places to get food. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay, and it was well located for exploring the area. We did some nice local walks, visited the coast, and plenty of other attractions including Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, Hadrians Wall, Alnwick Gardens, and Berwick.

It is a good job I am not the sort of person who looks for the slightest little thing to complain about, as I would be disappointed.. York cottage is a lovely little place in a lovely little village, it is well equipped, and very comfortable, beautiful views out of the back windows and from the garden. It made a great base for us to explore Northumbria, and we found the local shop owners very friendly, helpful and polite. One word of advice, when Jeff the owner tells you the Chinese does big portions, he means BIG portions. We do plan return to Wooler in a few years and we hope York cottage will still be available, as it will be the first place we look at. By the way Jeff, I was sorely tempted to take that shower home with us, it's much better than the one we have at home.

Juat come back from a relaxing week away .Nice area .Just a heads up if you Coeliac and wanting a homemade cake or any cake no pre packed .Youll have to bake your own a nothing round about .Suggeated to local chip shop to get a small fryer nd keep stuff seperate .As had to have either have sausage nd chip or grilled fish. Coop have 2 small shelves for gluten free food . Plus therea a small rubbish bin .Then you have to take your rubbish out in the morning or anytime and distribute it anywhere in village bins .Not ideal when therea a family .We struggled with bin and there waa only me mum and youngest at 13 years .So if your a full fam of 4 or with toddlers i dont know how your gonna manage mx

Welcoming, clean and spacious home a stones throw from the village centre. Both the house and the village have everything you could need for a relaxing break. The gracious owner was full of local info via phone if we needed it. A perfect location for ramblers being a few yards from St Cuthbert's Way, and dog owners being a mile or so from Wooler Common. There are several pubs in the village but we only ventured into The Black Bull and saw no reason to go anywhere else! A rental you won't regret I'm sure!

Beautiful spacious holiday home a stones throw from the charming village centre which comprises of pubs, restaurants and shops.. Everything you could need in the house (including a welcome pack of scones, fruit, butter, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and orange juice!) and exceptionally clean too, the owner was attentive (but not obtrusively so) and full of local info. Thanks for a wonderful stay! We couldn't have asked for more for the money!

Lovely cottage with an excellent welcome pack including for the dog.. Wooler is well situated for good walks and exploring the surrounding area. The cottage was well equipped and had a good garden for relaxing in. We visited Bamburgh Berwick Holy Island Farne Islands and other places on the coast. Inland we walked in the Cheviot. We were blessed with glorious weather. I would recommend this cottage.

The cottage was immaculate.. I found the tv a let down when trying to look at listing of what was on. This is just personal preference but I felt I was in a goldfish bowl at the sitting room front window and would definitely consider this house again if a net or something was there. I fully appreciate that everyone probably would not feel the same. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise.

Our disappointment is not specifically aimed at Sykes, but at the owner of York Cottage.. Mr Milburn probably labours under the illusion that everything is fine! Rubbish disposal was onerous - only one (small) receptacle in the whole house, and that was an ‘open’ bin in the kitchen not a peddle bin. Then we had to take the bag to a public street bin! Only one toilet roll supplied. All beds were most uncomfortable. The television was extremely poor quality and the freeview not fully functional. However the biggest concern relates to the heating. Our arrival was expected any time after 3pm, we arrived approximately 4.30. It was extremely cold and the heating control was still at 12 degrees! We immediately turned this to 23 degrees - it took THREE days to warm the whole house! The outside temperature on arrival was only 3 degrees, but a local resident was retained to manage and clean the property, so we expected that she would make sure the property was welcoming. Over many years we have rented holiday accommodation and never been as disappointed as we were with York Cottage.

Excellent cottage , well located in the centre of the town , very close to all facilities .. The owners are very obliging and maintain good contact with you offering good advice for those not familiar with the area . The cottage is well maintained and has all the requirements you need to enjoy your stay . It .is ideally placed for exploring the Cheviot Hills / Scottish Lowlands /. Flodden / Northumbrian coast eg Farnes , Alnwick Castle , Holy Island ....the list is endless . All in all an excellent well equipped cottage .

It was a lovely market town, perfect for going out for a drink -there were some good pubs.. The Italian restaurant (Milan) served beautiful food and they were also very accommodating with our two year old daughter. The cottage was clean and well equipped, just a stones throw from the town centre.

Had such a great stay at York Cottage, lovely clean, spacious and well equpt. Close to lots of fab tourist attractions and plenty of places to eat/have a drink in Wooler itself. Brilliant place for dogs too, surrounded by countryside walks. Dogs are made to feel welcome in the cottage and everywhere in the area. Jeff and Issie the owners are so helpful with useful local knowledge. Couldn't fault this cottage at all, we will definitely be back.

This was our first experience of a holiday cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Instructions for using the central heating and the gas fire were clear and easy, and as soon as all our bags were in we were all cosy in the lovely little lounge. The bookshelves were filled with something for anyone, young or older, including beautiful guide books to the area. We were all warm comfortable and slept well. York Cottage is just off the main street in Wooler, set in beautiful countryside and was a lovely base for us to go exploring Northumbria. We would definitely go back.

A very pleasant cottage would book again if staying in the area. Probably try to book again next year. All the facilities were excellent. I would certainly recommend this cottage to friends family.
