Self-Catering Reviews

September 2020
We had a lovely stay at Yeoman Terrace but along with the other reviews we have read about the place we agree that it could do with a little tlc.. The doors/locks are stiff and difficult to shut, the stair carpet was coming away from the tread halfway up the stairs and the on/off button was broken off the kettle making it difficult to use(I'm sure they are aware of this as we found the button in the cupboard!). It all seemed very clean and tidy but after reading your website about cleanliness in covid times I was surprised to see all the books, games, dvd's etc had been left in place which made me wonder whether it had been cleaned as well as I hoped. In normal times I wouldn't have given that a second thought, but we didn't let it affect our enjoyment of our stay.

Yeomens cottages is a very well kept house.. So handy for all the amenaties such as supermarket round corner.. all the village shops.. pubs and coffee bars. Beach is 5 mins walk from the house with miles of clean beach.

Although the cottage was placed in a lovely area the overall stay was marred by the fact that this cottage was not very clean at all.. There was an old water bottle under one of the beds that had been there for goodness knows how long and a dusty old fleece hung up behind one of the doors. Someone had made a comment a year ago about the toilet seat in the outside toilet being broken and it was still broken. I had to rewash all the cups/ plates etc as they looked dirty and were chipped. The place overall just seemed tired and in need of some tlc. I believe this property is managed rather than the owners doing the work as it lacked pride in the appearance. Crockery didn’t match, downstairs internal doors didn’t close and the oven was dirty. There was no welcome pack and it just lacked the normal Sykes quality that we’ve come to expect in your cottages.

We had a wonderful 5 days and the cottage had everything we needed for our requirements however, the bathroom is desperately in need of repair.. The shower door is broken as is the toilet seat and the outside yard is very badly in need of a clean. Also was not at all impressed when a workman turned up to look at the bathroom and he had a key to the house in his hand to let himself in!! We were not informed of his visit and I can't see why his visit was not organised for the day we left or between bookings. Overall really enjoyed our stay and we would rebook this cottage but essential repairs should be a priority and have been outstanding for a long time as is evident from the visitors book

We reported the DVD player not working got text back same night, that it would be replaced next day wasn’t replaced when we left.. With 2 small children it was disappointing as they had brought there special dvdswith them.

The backyard could do with painting and freshening up so u can sit out there it is the only small fault we could find it is very drab on the back not nice to sit and relax in..

Health centre next door being changed to a block of flats .. Problems with parking, due to delivery of materials, scaffolding etc. plus workmen. I should like to see my car from the cottage, but that wasn't possible. Outside space at cottage a bleak yard with a small table and two chairs.

It was a lovely cottage but there were one or two niggles.. The seats in both toilets were loose. The doors upstairs could do with painting to smarten them up. Reception on TV was very poor and at certain times of day couldn’t watch it. The biggest problem however was the lack of WiFi. We didn’t want a telephone only a router to connect to the internet. We were houehunting but couldn’t find out any of the information we needed and this was a real pain.

Booked last minute through Sykes...... Won't be using them again at 70 quid booking charge. The cottage was clean but smelled of stale smoke and the outside area was not great in fact it was a little depressing. I am probably being a little mean but it just wasn't to my taste but then again most of comments in the guest book rated it. It was close to a great beach and a really nice pub but nothing much else going for it.....left a day early.

We really enjoyed our three week stay at Yeoman Terrace in May of this year. It's a sweet little cottage, just perfect for two, three or four people! Great bathroom and shower, lovely little kitchen and eating area, cosy lounge. Parking is available on a back street, quite conveniently close to the cottage. Beautifully quiet yet walking distance to several very good pubs. Highly recommended! My only caveat is that there is absolutely no internet access. This is not the fault of the proprietors, but the house and indeed most of Marske seems to fall in an internet black spot, so that even mobile phones can't access it. If this doesn't matter to you, than this cosy, clean little self-catering house is perfect for you!

We stayed at yeoman cottage for 2 weeks in January and have to say we had a lovely time The cottage was warm, welcoming and spotless and a joy to stay in would recommend it to everyone One of the nice things about it was a full size freezer and washer which makes life a lot easier The only think I can find fault with is having to pay £70 booking fee when I booked it in one go so felt one booking fee should have surfisedand that has put us off booking with sykes again

We holiday in Saltburn at least twice a year at this owners other property Victoria Cottage. This was a last minute extra holiday and we wondered how this cottage would compare. We were delighted with the comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated cottage which was equally cosy and welcoming. It was nice to be away from the main road and the neighbours were very friendly. It was also ideally located for shops, beach and the pub!
