Woods View has everything we need and more.. Perfectly located to make the most of the beautiful countryside right on its doorstep. We’ve had a great time here. Our trip to Sheffield Hallam university yesterday to drop off our youngest went well. We finished the day with a takeaway from the local Colombo Sri Lankan restaurant. Delicious! Great meal at The Gate Inn on Friday and even found the micro brewery at Bentley Brook just a short walk away! We had a lovely walk to Dethick, Lea and Riber this afternoon Enjoying the views, villages, woods and hills and at the end of the day enjoying the sun trap in the Woods View garden. Many thanks for letting us stay. It has been perfect. Lovely comfortable cottage which we will look forward to returning to.

Woods View was cosy and comfortable.. The location on the edge of the village was perfect for walks from the front door. The cottage plus fabulous weather made for a perfect, safe staycation in these difficult times.

Great location in a quaint little village with lots of walks on your door step.. But also lots of places to see and visit a car journey away. There is a nice pub at the top of the road . The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay we would recommend and would hope to stay there again.

The cottage is set in a perfect location for a Walking Break.. We are five mature ladies who have previously stayed in Youth Hostels for our walking trips and thought we would try a cottage on this occasion. The cottage was perfect for our needs, within walking distance to a pub and positioned wonderfully well for our walks. The owner was extremely kind in unzipping the king size double beds, to make them into single beds - few cottages have this facility. We all agreed that if we were to return to the area, we would return to Woods View Cottage.

The cottage was wonderful and very clean, well appointed and warm.. The owner left a very comprehansive folder of how to use the equipment, local walks and useful numbers. The locals were friendly. The only possible thing that I needed, that was not provided, was a colander!

Nice, comfortable and clean little cottage.. Easier to find in daylight than in the dark! Had a lovely weekend with friends there.

The whole experience was great - from booking via Sykes Holiday Cottages, dealing with the owner to actually staying in the cottage.. The cottage is very cosy and clean. It had all we needed for our stay and more. It may be worth mentioning there are plenty of games in the cottage to save people bringing their own :-). The views from the cottage and the whole area is wonderful. The Gate Inn pub, just a couple of minutes walk away, is a very friendly pub with a great service and good food. It has been refurbished to a high standard and was a pleasure to spend an evening in. There is plenty to do in the area - for those enjoying nature and walking, there are some lovely walks with stunning views or you can go visiting nearby places such as Matlock Baths, Bakewell etc. We'll definitely be coming back to the area.

We have just got back from a lovely weekend in woods view cottage.. The cottage was very clean, cosy and well equipped. It was a cold frosty weekend so the wood burner in the living room was perfect for warming us up after our dog walks. The gate inn is just few 100 yards up the road and was a nice pub to visit and dog friendly too. We walked with the dog to lumsdale falls which was quite impressive. The walk there and back from the cottage was around 3-4 miles and took you to the falls and through the woods. Thankyou very much for letting us stay at your lovely cottage we hope to return again.

Woods View Cottage is a lovely cottage set in a quiet village.. It is very well equipped ,cosy and comfortable and as there was only two of us very spacious. We had an enormous very comfy bed, good shower and well equipped kitchen. It is a home loved by the owners not just a holiday let as it has lovely pictures and little quirky ornaments in the stone wall. There is a file giving precise instructions for all the appliances, we have been in holiday cottages where we struggled to work out how the oven or heating worked. There are walks direct from the door, details of these are also in the file. Tansley is just off the main tourist radar, a very quiet village but with an excellent pub, The Gate Inn, but a short drive to lots of places, we visited Cromford, Carsington Water, Matlock Bath, Crich Tramway Museum. The owner Sarah is very helpful if you need to contact her as we did when on departure we forgot a bag. There is a parking space directly outside the cottage for one car, reverse in and it is no problem, it is down a narrow lane. We had a lovely stay and would return to this cottage , the sun even shone every day.

The photos gave the impression that the garden was bigger than it was.. Otherwise, a great cottage, very clean and well equipped. We would return there again.

The cottage had everything we needed.. We had a lovely time. Were able to visit lots of places. Felt comfortable in the cottage. Lovely and clean, well kept. The saucepans need replacing, the nonstick was coming off into the food Its unfortunate that the neighbour opposite decided to knock a hole in his wall to put a new window in. Starting work at 7.30am The second parking place on the road was tricky as there was little space available.

The week at WoodsView Cottage sped by - comfortable accommodating and idyllic.. Sadly, the cottage is so fully-booked, I cannot stay there again inthe foreseeable future...but that is a credit to the owners! I shall hope for sometime in 2021!

A fantastic holiday home with all the facilities to make it home from home and more.. The log burner is a great addition and cozy family nights are what make it a must return. Comfortable beds, brilliant shower and very clean house. Would highly recommend this cottage and will be returning again with my family.

Great cottage in good location for dog walking which was our main reason for booking.. Cottage very clean with excellent facilities. Pubs very close with good choice of meals to suit all budgets and tastes. Only downside to Tansley is the lack of local shops - you have to go into Matlock for any shopping. Would recommend the cottage.

We were a group of 4 friends in our early 40s staying friday to sunday at Woods view cottage. Booking through Sykes's cottages was staightforward and Sarah, the owner, contacted us by email with useful information and instructions for picking up keys and directions. Sarah also confirmed the beds would be configured as we had requested and advised us on the nearby options for eating out. The cottage was immaculate and well equipped. Lovely decor and very warm and cosy but plenty of room for the 4 of us. Great woodburner with initial supply of wood and more in the outhouse if needed. We loved watching the birds from the kitchen window and using the enormous power shower. Beds were comfy and all in all the cottage was great for us. No shop nearby but we didnt care as we took supplies with us. The Gate Inn pub is literally 2 mins walk from the cottage and was warm and welcoming for an evening meal on Saturday night (we booked ahead on Sarah's advice). We even went back for sunday dinner which was awesome. We also walked in Lumsdale in a cicular from the Tansley Tavern (where we enjoyed a friendly welcome and a glass of wine after our walk). The cottage is within easy drive of Matlock and Matlock Bath and Bakewell. We picked a very snowy weekend which was beautiful but meant we had to stay an extra night due to adverse weather conditions impacting on the main routes out of derbyshire. Sarah couldn't have been more helpful when we asked to extend our stay and it meant we had an extra 24 hours in this lovely accommodation. We would recommend Woods View Cottage

Easy to book.. Good contact from Sykes's and the owners pre-holiday. Cottage was immaculate and charming. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated. Great bird watching from the kitchen window. Fab bedrooms with comfy beds, warm and cosy. Shower was amazing but there is no bath for those that like a soak. Pub nearby (the Gate Inn) was 2 mins walk and served great food and had a nice atmosphere. Good walking on the doorstep into Lumsdale but no shop in the village so just a little drive for provisions but we took ours with us so not a problem at all. We had to stay an extra night unexpectedly due to heavy snow and road closures blocking our routes back to Manchester, and the owners were so helpful and kind. Would definitely stay at Woods View cottage again - it was fab. Sarah (South Manchester)

Really important that when the weather isn’t great to have a warm , comfy space to be in, lots to do indoors and a well functioning well equipped bathroom and kitchen and this cottage ticked all the boxes.. Lovely well stocked wood burner. Good clear instructions about everything. Nobody in our group could get a mobile signal in house or nearby so that would have been worth knowing so WiFi was important for us to contact people . Parking a little tricky when there are a few cars but we worked it out ok.
