Area
The attractive seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and its busy harbour is a haven for all kinds of watercraft, with the terminal used for regular mainland ferry crossings. Yarmouth's narrow streets are home to an array of shops and inns, whilst a visit to Henry VIII's castle is not to be missed. There's great cycling and walking to be had along the coastal path, or why not take an energetic stroll across to the nearby Tennyson Down? Sandhard beach is 15 minutes' walk away, and is ideal for swimming and crabbing from the jetty. 4 miles away is Compton beach, famous for dinosaur remains; go there at low tide and see if you can find the two enormous three-toed feet. West Wight is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Yarmouth is an ideal base from which to explore this wonderful island.

The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker's paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.

I had to clean as soon as I arrived. The floor was covered in hair as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Bed very creaky so it wakes everyone up and the attached apartments keep you awake. We left after 1 night of a 7 night booking.

This is a lovely location, the owner is a nice person. The images of this apartment however, are inaccurate. There is no comfortable sofa in the small room to relax in. The fridge is substandard. These issue and the concerns raised are substantial both in reviews & the visitors book. It was a major upset during our holiday, we have no difficulty with bad weather walking on the beach in all weathers is great. We love it, but if you can’t cosy up in front of the heater comfortably with a good book, or watching TV it’s not nice. Location isn’t everything it is with a heavy heart we cannot recommendation Number 4. Try the other apartments.

The sofa has been removed and 2 uncomfortable hard winged chairs are in place.. This is not what we signed up to on the website. We picked up on this reading reviews of disappointment from others who raised this issue and a poor fridge with no ice box or salad box. We tried to resolve this issue and told Sykes several times that the photo and reference to the comfortable sofa were misleading. The sofa is still on the website we recommend readers of this review book an alternative apartment as the location is excellent. The owner is a very nice person as well.

This being the second holiday spent at the Boat house appartments, we were confident that owing to covid 19, an all out effort woudl be made in sanitization / clenleness , our complements to the cleaners as the appartment was spotless, the appartment is fully equipted with every thing needed for a self catering holiday, all bed linen suplied was spotlesly clean, beds were confortable.. The only complaint was on are previous visit and the photos in the current brochures show a soffa in the lounge area, but has now been replaced with two upright hard arm chairs, imposible to relaxe in the evening whilst watching tv, disapointing as the other appartments had confortable soffa's. otherwise an exalent self cattering appartment, set in an ideal beach side position with good parking space.

We had a wonderful relaxing holiday, the location; right adjacent to a shingle beach and a dense woods, was dramatic and atmospheric and perfect for dog walking and the autumnal weather (very high winds, rain, fog and sea mist) just added to the experience.. The accommodation was perfectly adequate, comfortable, clean and tidy, in fact the apartment was well insulated inspite of the inclement weather so we didn't need the heating on for much of the time at all. We will definitely book a Sykes holiday again.

The location was great, the cafe was also great, sea view 4 was well equipped and clean, but no sofa, two high winged chairs that was not that comfortable, online pics it shows a sofa, also the fridge needs replacing, no ice box or salad crisper, I don’t think it even chilled our food properly, we like to take picnics with us but couldn’t freeze our ice packs, the television could have been bigger, bathroom needs a bath mat and towel rail, it was a nice week with the weather and plenty of places to visit but wished we had a sofa to relax after a long day..

The property was adequate in a lovely location, the only problem we had was the toilet being downstairs from the bedroom, during the night if you needed the toilet you had to put the lights on to see your way down the stairs..

Stayed here twice and loved the location amazing for walks with dog or without. We had a dog with us which is why we chose the cottage. Lovely converted boat house located next to a good restaurant 5 mins drive to freshwater with coop and other little shops. Yarmouth is small with a few restaurants the little shop has everything you'll need. We had one issue with the cottage and the owner John was super and resolved immediately. The facilities in the kitchen are excellent and I have prepared a good roast for two. Nice and quiet get away. The accommodation is rustic so don't go expecting pristine furniture. Have a perfect time we did

The arrangements were organised very well and we met Mr Brady at the allotted time.. The cottage was comfortable for the two of us, it would have suited a couple and a child, but I think four people would have struggled. We did not cook during our stay, but the kitchen equipment seemed to be satisfactory, although it would be very useful to have a small freezer, even just for making ice within the fridge. A bit more shelving space in the bathroom and a larger shower head would also be useful. But the very hot water was ideal. We used the cafe next door for coffee/tea/Sunday lunch - a roast carvery and for a breakfast. All very good. The walk into Yarmouth is not far, which again is a bonus. There is a small stretch of beach that is slightly difficult to walk on due to the stones and if walking at night, you do need a torch. All in all we had a very enjoyable week and this was an ideal quiet base to get out and about to see the Island.

The apartment/cottage was compact but had everything needed for comfort.. The location was fabulous, being directly onto the beach and a 'do-able' walk into Yarmouth.

It was a lovely place to stay and the location was perfect.. The only thing we would have found useful is a small freezer (for ice) and a sofa rather than the two chairs.

The location of the apartment was brilliant for exploring the many attractions of the island, the boathouse was very cosy and a lovely little home from home, the boathouse had every mod con and even had a welcome tea/coffee pack so we could have a well earned cuppa on arrival, the boathouse is directly in front of the sea with a shingle beach and private parking.. Overall a thoroughly enjoyed holiday. We will definitely be booking again!!

The apartment was good for us.. We wanted a quiet place to recharge our batteries after three years of stress. It was a comfortable base and the sound of the sea on the beach at night and when we woke up made it a tranquil and peaceful place to stay. We had everything we needed and when we did have a problem the owner dealt with it immediately and was very understanding and friendly. Although we didn't bring dogs with us we loved the fact that dogs were made so welcome across the Island and in the Boathouse apartments. For a small island there is so much to see and do. This is our fourth stay on the island but the first time without our children, what a revelation there is so much for grown ups too! We will be coming back soon.

The Boathouse was everything it promised to be and more. Every time I thought I needed something, for example, a chair to sit on outside I found it stored in the cottage. The beach was ideal for us and the dog. We could walk to Yarmouth and to the local fort which made for a lovely short walk.
