We have just returned from Tregiffian Vean. Whilst it might benefit from a little updating and window clean, the house is lovely. It is comfortable and extremely spacious. I have read other reviews - we had no problems with the cooker or showers. The water was lovely and hot at all times. The bedding was spotless. The views are amazing - truly. There is a walk down to the beach (empty when we were there apart from the odd dog walker) and a longer coastal walk to Sennen Cove - with pub, shop, ice creams, board hire etc. It is secluded so, when we had a barbecue, (provided) we didn't feel that we were bothering neighbours with smoke or laughter! We went with our adult 'children' and have all agreed we will go again.

The location is five star - overlooking the bay, with access right onto the coastal path. Lots to see and do. The house has no immediate neighbours. It is also huge. The upstairs sitting rooms are the nicest rooms. Suits a group of surfers or students. BUT... the interiors are shabby, and in places the woodwork is filthy. The lower bedrooms an bathroom smell of damp and there is evidence of it in the wardrobes which we did not use. There were ants all over the hall. Both the bathrooms have mould and are like something you'd find in an old pub or student accommodation. When we arrived there was a pubic hair on the windowsill of one. My daughter was sick for no reason and my son's asthma played up. It needs a deep clean and all the bits falling off/half-painted need sorting. The furniture needs replacing as it is faded and dirty. The only seating area on the patio was a peeling old picnic bench that had seen better days. All this I could accept had we not paid well over two thousand pounds for a stay of one week. The house is rated five star on the site we booked on (Sykes) so we felt misled. We've stayed in twenty plus properties in Cornwall and this was way below the standard we've experienced, Our review has not been posted on the site, nor have we been contacted so have chosen to post here.

Gas range in kitchen is challenging. Low gas pressure , gas rings kept going out. No baking trays provided so take your own. Log fire in the lounge blows back a lot of smoke. Remember to take everything like cooking oil and salt & pepper Cosy bedrooms overall not suitable for small children or disabled seniors - a lot of stairs with no handrails.

We enjoyed our stay at Tregiffian Vean, thankyou.. The location was ideal, quiet surroundings, but easy walking to Sennen Cove, and central for a visit to the Minack (although we chose a very wet evening to go!). However, the property is in need of a little TLC (particularly outside) and a bit of "attention to detail" inside, ie missing light bulbs, lack of full-length mirror, instructions for the washer/dryer, rugs beside the beds in the twin room - cold floor for your feet! Jason the manager was very helpful and quickly responded when we had issues which needed dealing with. We were surprised at the lack of an outside line to dry washing (at least we couldn't find one!), particularly as the house sleeps up to 8 - putting everything in the washer/dryer for a large family is not very practical. The shower was not very powerful in the bathroom on the right as you enter the property. The heating was very efficient though, as the evenings were quite chilly. The garden area could do with a good tidy-up, and the contents of the wooden shed left a lot to be desired. However, these things did not detract from a very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable break for us five "60 something" ladies from Devon!

The pictures of the property on your website did not fully represent how good its surrounding were .. ......!!

The property is very spacious even for 8 people. The views were absolutely spectacular and only a short though steep walk to the beach. The only downside was that the hot water tank was not really adequate for 8 people as ran out after 2 showers. Otherwise a superb holiday location.

Lovely, spacious house with amazing views.. The house itself is quite run down in places and needs some TLC. There were a few things that were broken and in general needs some love! There were also a few key things missing e.g. An iron, bin bags, logs for fire (which said would be provided). For the last 1.5 days the hot water stopped working too. However, lots and lots of space and rooms to sit in and the views made it all worth it!

The house was in an excellent position with a lovely walk down to the beach.. There was plenty of room and the views were wonderful. The house was clean, the kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. However a lot of the windows would not open and this would be a problem in hot weather, particularly in the conservatory. The bathroom needs either a window that will open or an extractor fan as there is nowhere for the steam to escape and the bedrooms feel damp. Some of the webbing under the seats in the conservatory has collapsed which means some of the seats cannot be used which was disappointing. It would have been nice if the garden had been tidied up and the grass cut so that we could have used it. Apart from these issues we very much enjoyed our stay and the welcome pack was a nice touch which meant we could have a cup of tea and a biscuit when we arrived.

The view from the house is absolutely stunning but you just pay for that and nothing else. Everything goes down hill as soon as you enter the house: - windows don't open for some lovely seas breeze, just 1-2...the others are broken - the electric showers are very old and have no power; is like washing yourself under a running tap; you're better off having a bath - the bed linen are not soft at all and cheap material; beds not comfortable - the whole house needs a good old scrub and some fresh pain (skirt board and the wooden floors); there were cob webs everywhere; the decor is old and tired - the cooker is old and slow; took forever to cook something and was still not cooked enough - the conservatory is old and dusty (cobwebs again) - the heating was not working properly; radiators could not be controlled, especially in the living room where the fireplace was not enough to keep us warm while watching TV The whole experience was basic, had high expectation but unfortunately I was wrong. You are better off somewhere else for the money that you pay. Would not recommend it to anyone.
