The cottage lived up to all expectations with lots of little touches to make it a really enjoyable stay.. The owner contacted me to discuss key arrangements, the cottage was spotless and lots of information was left to give us ideas of activities whilst we were there. The location is peaceful and the local residents helpful and friendly. The hot tub was the icing on the cake!

We had the most wonderful time at this stunning cottage!
The place is beautifully finished, and has kept its lovely authentic feel.
The dog-friendly pub is a mile down the end of lane from the cottage, so a nice easy walk and there is a little shop attached that is like an Aladdins cave. All the locals were really friendly and welcoming.
The rear yard where the hot tub is, is fully enclosed so our dogs could be out with us whilst we bathed, and it was very private and not overlooked.
I would highly recommend taking wood with you, the shop has it for a good price but they did run out over the weekend.
We found some fab walks right from the doorstep , meaning you can stop in the pub for a few drinks after and warm on their lovely fire.
The hot tub is fantastic after a day walking, it did take us about 24 hours to get up to temp as it was pretty cold outside, we then just lit the fire in the morning and found it to be the right temperature in the evening.
The cottage has great facilities, and everything you could want.
We will Definitely be back.
Ps. Take some bird seed to feed the stunning birds that you can watch from the windows. Bliss

Quaint little cottage in beautiful surroundings.. Spotlessly clean and tasty carrot cake welcome. We had a six month old baby with us and the owner kindly left a baby walker at the property. Great walks and plenty of wildlife. Will definitely return to the property hopefully in the summertime...

Fantastic cottage, really peaceful location but still has shops/pub locally.. The walking around the cottage is lovely as the Stiperstones Nature Reserve is literally outside the gate. The owner seems really nice and baked us cake. Pet friendly which meant we could take a cat. Tuffins supermarket in Craven Arms is about a 40min drive and well worth a visit for some local produce. The road/track to the property wasn't an issue as mentioned in some reviews. The Wi-Fi was also fine, we were able to watch Netflix without issue but the description does make it clear that it may be intermittent. To be expected in this type of location.

The Cottage was very clean and tidy and the area a bit more remote than we are used to.. We enjoyed the local wildlife but the walking for us was too hilly. Overall we enjoyed the stay but not the drive upto and from the Cottage.
Mr Williams, September 2019

More secure garden required when allowing dogs.. The tv wasn't really suitable as your could only get limited channels and in a evening if you couldn't watch tv it was a bit boring

Relaxing, everything as expected.. Recycling instructions could be clearer but that's a very minor point.

Beautiful cottage in the hills last 400 yards to cottage is up a bumpy lane but all added to our enjoyment of getting there,we felt at home as soon as we entered the cottage, lots of wildlife in the garden which we encouraged with nuts and bird food, very peaceful and great for our dog who loved the enclosed garden and his walks up in the hills, excellent pub 10min walk away which serves lovely food and all the locals we met were very friendly..

The Wildness is by far the best holiday cottage that we have stayed in.. The owners had thought of everything we could possibly need to make our stay absolutely brilliant and there was a beautiful cake for us too. We didn’t use the hot tub but we did have a real fire every evening and our dog loved it. It was so nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of life in a town. I loved sitting outside to watch and listen to the abundance of wildlife that was on the door step. Just a short walk down the hill was the shop and next door the local pub. You can take your dogs in the bar and the food is very reasonably priced too. We had a lovely time in this miners cottage and wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.

The Wilderness was a cosy and clean cottage with everything you would need provided.. Lovely walk from the gate to the summit of Stiperstones. Food at local pub very good and within easy walking distance.
The only point I would make is that there are other properties on each side of the Wilderness which you cannot see from the photos. One of which is virtually on the same site and unfenced from the Wilderness. If you had a dog that wanted to explore it would have to be shut in the front garden as the back patio provides free access to the lodge next door.

The Wilderness was fabulous, one of the best of many we have stayed in: comfortable, cosy, tasteful, a lovely adaptation of a traditional cottage..
Mr Hoar
July 2018
The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Shropshire Hills.. It's position at the end of a track means no traffic sounds at all and at night the stars are fantastic with no light pollution. Being where it is the water pressure is not great (for a shower) and the wi-fi strength is not good but you should expect that when booking a remote cottage and these things are insignificant compared to the quality of the cottage. The only drawback is the metalled track to reach the cottage was quite a struggle for a small car with four adults and their luggage so I would not recommend booking if you have a lotus. If you keep below 5mph however there is no issue.

Just back from a week long stay at The Wilderness.. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility, this is the place. The cottage is charming and spotlessly clean, with a lovely garden, which our two dogs loved. There are plenty of walks in the area, and a haven for those interested in nature.
The local pub was a ten minute walk from the cottage and the welcome by both the staff and locals, was lovely. We ate there most days.
We would definitely recommend staying here.

The Wilderness is set in an beautiful secluded location.. It is very comfortable and well equipped and the owners are extremely helpful. The garden was great for our dogs and there are lovely walks directly from the garden gate. We would definitely go back, it is one of the loveliest cottages we have stayed in.

This was our second stay for Christmas at Wilderness Cottage and was even better than the first time.. It is in a fabulous location at Stiperstones with fantastic views and walks from the doorstep. The improvements by the owners (bathroom, furniture and telephone as no mobile reception) were really noticeable and appreciated - as were the Christmas tree, mulled wine and mince pies. We will definitely return as this is our favourite Sykes cottage - and we have been to many around England.

Stayed at this beautiful cottage for a week. Interior is cosy, spotlessly clean with all amenities including a dish washer & washing machine. The dogs loved the big spacious garden and the long walks in the breathtaking countryside of shropshire. It was like a home from home & our week went far too quickly. The owner left us a delicious cake for our arrival which was a lovely personal touch. The pub and shop are within 10 minutes walking distance . The pub serves superb food, we dined there every day. We wanted a tranquile holiday, to get us away from the hustle & bustle of city life & thats exactly what we got. We came home totally refreshed. If like us you love your dogs like family and you want them to join you on your holiday, i highly recvomend this dog friendly holiday home. You and your dogs will love it.
