Area The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
Region Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

We arrived to no oil so no hot water or heating with temperatures below freezing point at night. It was clear that the property had not been properly checked prior to our arrival as the oil gauge was at empty. An extremely poor start that ruined our holiday.
The property is situated next to a busy road, in a dark and dank corner next to a collection of other cottages with no outlook.
The house itself was clean, had comfortable beds and was reasonably well equipped but it lacked many things such as shelving in bathrooms, guttering that did not leak, inside door mat.

Property looks stunning….got there February, no heating or hot water, the oil had run out and no-one had checked it!
Took 24 very cold hours to resolve problem.
No drawers in bedrooms, although ample space for them
No mirrors in bedroom- designed by a man?
No iron or ironing board.
Just needs a little more thought.
Plenty of space.
