This is the second time our in laws have booked this property and it's just been exactly what we were hoping for. We live in Launceston so it's ideal for us to pop and see them and we spent a couple of nights with them on the weekend too. They also stayed in November and cannot find any faults on either occasion. The garden is not totally secure - there is no fencing at the back so you do have to make sure your dogs don't nip over the top and into the next field. Plenty of space & plenty of hot water with a well equipped kitchen. Ideal location to visit other areas such as Crackington haven, Bodmin, as it's only a 2 min drive off the a30. Highly recommend the pub in the village too. Great food.

The village of Lewannick is quiet, and, being away from the bustle of the more touristy places in Cornwall, gives a tranquil location from which there is easy access to both north and south coasts, Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor (don't tell the Cornishmen you crossed the Tamar, though!) and lots of quieter attractions that are just as worth seeing as the more famous villages etc. (Go to the mines around Minions on a foggy wet day for real atmosphere!) There is a great pub in the village. No frills. Obviously a local to the locals, but welcoming of guests too, and serving good quality, straightforward food, well-kept ales and a pool table and dartboard if you fancy a game. There is also a brilliant little village shop which stocks pretty much everything. The house itself is easy to find and access. Despite the other review on here (reading the reply, there may be issues with that!) it was spotlessly clean, with fresh linen on all the beds, good quality towels, a really well-stocked kitchen (and I mean *really* well-stocked - the knives were sharp, the cooker is a double oven range style one, and I have never seen a holiday cottage with one non-stick, perforated pie dish, let alone three), a fabulous games rooms with a table that easily converts from pool to air hockey to table tennis and a dartboard too. Amazing for wet days with teenagers. The rooms are spacious, gloriously high-ceilinged and having a large separate dining room for family meals and indoor games was a real bonus. The convervatory is clean and handy as a place to get away from the more raucous teenage games. The garden is small, neat, and with separate dog poo bin provided. As we don't have a dog, I can't comment on the security of the back fence. A small patio with BBQ provided was a great way to spend sunnier evenings. The bath and shower, in a spacious bathroom, are a little tight for space, and being of the larger shape (I'm 6'7 and, shall we just say, "over 120kg") I struggled there a bit, but the more normal members of the family were fine in there. It is hardly fair to blame the owners for my own vital statistics :) All-in-all, I would rate this cottage highly, and would definitely go back again.

I have given up trying to complain to Sykes cottages despite filling in feedback form and ringing and writing to them so have resorted to good old trip advisor to warn people who may be tempted to book.this is a lovely old house but sadly needs TLC and is very dated inside and not cleaned thoroughly enough considering current Covid requirements, also so called dog proof garden is certainly not, overgrown grassy bank at bottom of garden with steps straight over on to barbed wire fence in to sheep field.....dogs had to stay on long stretchy leads all week to go outside!Very Very disapointed and would not go back.

A pleasant house in a fantastic location.. The village is beautiful with a great community pub and local park. The house was dated in places and needs a little TLC but overall, for the price we paid, we could not complain as it was a good base for exploring some of Cornwall. Thank you.

Basically we were very very disapointed with our stay at The Old School House,To be fair to Jaime she did get it ready a bit earlier for us.. But,considering the current guidelines we all know that everything has to be absolutely super extra clean, sadly the cottage was not ! Firstly the toilet brush and holder in bathroom was absolutely disgusting ! it was caked in faeces and the holder was full of soiled water ! I was going to remove it and put it in a black bin bag in the garage, but to be honest I didn't want to handle it ,why was this not checked on and removed?surely with everything having to be sanitised it should be replaced weekly, plastic one in supermarkets are super cheap-basically disposable. Also, worktops in kichen had only had a basic wipe down and were greasy.Dishwasher had been used and everything we needed was clean, but there were no spare dishwasher tablets as we should have had according to instruction manual,i obviously went and bought some, the dishwasher wash out of salt and rinse aid ,surely that should have been noticed and items replaced as per hygiene rules? There wer dirty sticky childrens finger prints on inside of conservatory windows, shouldn't they have been cleaned? The placemats/coasters in dining room were old and tatty(down to base cardboard) and old food spilled and smeared on them, pretty unhygienic !When we were due to leave we got the hoover out and the filter was absolutely jammed up with dirt and debris and dog hair, why wasn't this emptied by house keeper?Thats all the cleanliness issues,if we hadn't travelled over 330 miles we probably would've gone home to be honest. The worst disapointment was actually the garden advertised as dog proof,it certainly was not ! at the bottom was an overgrown grassy bank with steps to top and straight out and over the other side on to 4 strands of barbed wire, which is obviously standard farm fencing along a livestock field we realise that ,but had the dogs gone straight over I dread to think what would have happened. So, the dogs had to spend whole week on leads outside-so unfair !The grass had been mown, but the gravel around patio area was overgrown with weeds and whole place looked unloved.Do you or the owners not regularly check on the property,Neglecting to look at details all around I think. We were actually down there house hunting and were going to use your £40 off voucher but to be honest I don't know if I would want to choose Sykes again if this is your standard, but we will be going back to Cornwall house hunting again soon, sadly never again at The Old School House ! I would be interested in your comments on our complaints please.

This was a really spacious property and had everything we needed to have an enjoyable relaxing break with our family and dog.. The only criticism I have is that it didn't feel as though a deep clean had been done prior to arrival. There were dog hairs on the bed throws and everything seemed to be a little dusty and tired looking. We made sure that our dog did not go on furniture and upstairs but it was evident that previous holiday makers were not so prudent.

The deep clean you said the property would have isn't true as we had stained sheets hairs in the bed and the house wasn't cleaned very well at all.. a deep clean means all rooms and surfaces should be cleaned not just the kitchen worktops.

This is the fifth time we have used Skye’s to book our summer holidays and our third time to stay at The Old School House in Lewannick.. We love this comfortable, well equipped house. The back garden is perfect for enjoying the weather and watching the birds , butterflies and the occasional bat in the evening. The garden is peaceful and very secure for our dog. It is really a joy to visit this property and to enjoy the peaceful village location which is ideally situated for exploring Cornwall.

The property was really good, two nice seating rooms/areas down stairs plus the dinning room.. ( which we spent most of our time in. long mealtimes, board games, family chats and girls doing their schoolwork ). The games room / garage was a big bonus, we enjoyed that a lot. also the nice big secure garden our dog could run around in and we played "footie" with our children there. The welcome pack was very helpful "and detailed" , we found the park very easy thanks to the directions. We wish we could have stayed longer and one day plan to go back.
