The Old Chapel is exactly what a holiday cottage should be.. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is there. The under floor heating makes the whole place really cosy, especially with a fire in the log burner. The 'New for 2020' bathrooms are lovely and the bedrooms very comfortable. The large hot tub is an added bonus to unwind at the end of each day. The house has loads of character and is in a a very peaceful location. There are fantastic walks and bike rides from the door and the owners pub is a 2 minute walk as well as the local shop which is brilliant, stocks just about everything you will need. We are already planning a return visit and can highly recommend The Old Chapel.

Our stay was perfect in every way - even the weather could not dampen our spirits (and it was rather wet).. Everything you require and more. Phil was friendly and welcoming. The bedrooms were comfortable. The sofas were fab - you could just sink into them. The views were stunning. We went to the pub for dinner and the food was great. The hot tub was THE best weve ever used. The minstrel gallery was really cute and the location was perfect for a chilled out get away. All in all we basically didnt want to leave!! Thank you for letting us stay Phil and Lara, we will definitely be booking again. Anna, Laura, Lindsey, Laz, Charlotte and Elle.

The Old Chapel was a lovely place to stay a real home from home very comfortable and relaxing.. Lovely views from the seating areas outside and no need to look any further for a good meal at good prices at the Stiperstones Inn just a short walk away. So nice was the chapel it was a shame to go out sightseeing but once again views were amazing either by foot or by car. We would not hesitate to visit again and the owners were very welcoming a wonderful way to celebrate our 43 wedding anniversary.

Beautiful property, quirky but comfortable and cosy.. Beautiful garden and surrounding countryside. Hot tub was fabulous to relax in. The food in the pub also owned by the owners was fabulous. Could fault a thing although parking outside the chapel is a little challenging.

The Old Chapel was beautiful and the hot tub fabulous.. The extra touches like the home made cake, the bread and milk on arrival made it even better. We loved exploring the wonderful countryside right on the doorstep and took advantage of nearby attractions too.

We had a great weekend at the Old Chapel with our family.. The hosts were very friendly & accommodating, & we enjoyed a lovely meal at their pub. We shopped in the village shop, which is an amazing little gem. We had great walks with Charlie up on Stiperstones Hill & The Long Mynd, & beautiful sunsets up by Manstone Rocks & also from the hot tub. Fabulous weekend, enjoyed by all . Thank you.

The Old Chapel is an amazing place to stay.. Full of character, you seem to spot something new each day. After some fabulous walks in the area the hot tub was very welcome. The views from there are stunning and it’s difficult to drag yourself out. Location is great with the Stiperstones Inn just down the lane. Try the Lamb Shank it’s delicious although they would not provide more gravy when requested. Apparently you have to buy another shank to get more gravy ..... very odd. That said a great holiday was had by all

This is a beautiful cottage .. Perfectly situated . All amenities perfect . The view is exceptional , the cottage is exceptional as well . The local village and the owners pub is a 2 minute walk . A little note , absolutely nothing to do with the cottage but access to the cottage is up a single track road so a big car won’t have room to turn . The owners were very gracious and left milk , bread and lovely homemade cake upon arrival . We had a glorious week.

My husband an I booked the Chapel for our 5th wedding anniversary.. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome. The Old Chapel is welcoming, cosy and comfy, with a lovely log burner and a spacious hot tub over looking the beautiful hills and countryside. There is everything you need at the chapel - from washing up liquid, to tea, coffee, ketchup, dishwasher tablets, cleaning stuff - everything you would need. The log burner is all set ready to light, there was milk and bread, plus a homemade cake which was delicious. We immediately felt relaxed and at home. The pub - The Stiperstones Inn is a short walk away, and as it is run by Lara & Phil you get a discount on the food there. The food is delicious, proper pub grub with a good selection and very reasonably priced. The staff an locals are also so friendly and make you feel like it is your own local! There are lots of beautiful walks to do, and it is truly a stunning location. We will be going back for sure. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Fantastic location, very comfortable and well appointed cottage, pub with excellent food at the bottom of the hill and the best, smallest shop in Shropshire - only drawback was tight parking and low ceiling height in double bedroom on mezzanine (banged me 'ead a few times! !).

Stayed in October for a week... it was an absolute dream. A cake baked for arrival, spacious and clean. The hot tub and log fire were amazing. My partner, son and dog all feel the same. (Didnt smell like dog) The views are brilliant. It had literally every thing we needed from washing machine to a slow cooker. Plenty of walks in the area, stiperstones inn - great food, drink and service. There is also a little village shop selling most things. I would definately return as we were so sad to leave. My only critics that can't be altered or changed is the parking. Only just room for one car... You are able to leave your car at the stiperstones inn and also being 7 months pregnant I hadn't expected so many steep hills so be warned in icy conditions if you are to go winter time. I really can't praise this place enough.

This was booked for a cold and wet weekend in January but it was an excellent choice. The hot tub was a real attraction and the cottage had absolutely everything that was needed, even things not often found in other holiday rentals. Great owners who work nearby, making it easy to pick up the keys and would have been great if there had been any problems ... but there were none. Being able to walk to the pub was a real bonus and an excellent time was had by all!

As stated in the title, this is now our third stay at the old chapel,a truly individual property set in a stunning location. A large vaulted living room with huge log burner creates a very relaxing atmosphere, our Malamute dog loves to lie by the glazed window looking out into the country side waiting to go up the hills again. The kitchen is well equipped, bedrooms and bathrooms are in excellent order, there's adequate parking for a large car (we were in a crew cab pick up),though you are better to drive past the chapel turn around and reverse in to park. Shrewsbury is in easy reach,as is Oswestry,Welshpool,Newtown, church Stretton and the very appealing Montgommery with its lovely ruined castle. Another great asset in its location is the pub (Stiperstones Inn) which does great food, and possibly the 8th wonder of the world aka Johns shop where you can buy anything from a pair of wellies a pack of sausages or a set of screwdrivers !. A great place to stay and we have already booked in for 2017 and 2018. LOVE IT.

Location was the key factor here great walks on your doorstep good friendly pub and local shop so if you don't want to drive anywhere you don't have to .. The chapel was the most comfortable and best equipped house we have stayed in best part sitting in hot tub at night star gazing then taking yourself inside to sit by a roaring log burner perfect.

The location of this property was perfect for walking, it was quiet but within walking distance of facilities.. Owners were very friendly helpful but not intrusive, the property was clean and well equipped. Liked absolutely everything. The owners love and passion for The Old Chapel and garden was apparent as soon as we entered the property. We had a fabulous week at The Old Chapel during February half term, which was very reasonably priced for a week during school holidays. We stayed here with my parents (for Mum's 60th) and we had various guests visiting us during our stay and they loved it too. Our dog George loved his stay too and came home happy and tired. The chapel was clean, tidy and kitchen was well stocked with all the bits and pieces you could need (and more!). The chapel felt very light and airy but warm and cosy at the same time, the beds were so comfy that I slept like a log every night. Wifi was good and a decent speed compared to other properties we've stayed at. Chapel is really well located for walking, there are numerous walks you can do (leaflets and maps in chapel with all the details). The hot tub was one of our favourite additions to the chapel, we used it everyday after our walks, it was the perfect way to relax. The Stiperstones Inn down the road was our second home for the week, we ate here everyday. Great pub grub at fab prices and friendly staff and customers that made us feel very welcome. Phil and Lara were on hand to sort out any problems we had and give us advise on places to go and see, truly lovely helpful owners (pub and chapel). Nextdoor to the pub is one of the best shops I have every been into! My dad went in every morning for the paper and we used it each day for bits and pieces, the shop sells everything you could possibly want and more, at great prices......seeing is believing!!!!! Everything about our stay was perfect, so much so we booked up with the owners for next year before we left! Can't wait to return :-)

The Chapel was in a brilliant location for walking with our dogs. The village and people were friendly and we were made very welcome. The pub served excellent food and was, as described, a short walk away. The hot tub was used everyday and was a joy after the long walks. The owners were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would happily visit again and recommend to friends.

Liked everything, the location and welcome was exactly as promised. The hot tub was more than welcome after a day on the hill, it was the perfect getaway from urban life without travelling miles and miles - its only 12 miles away from Shrewsbury. Had everything for either an outdoors week or a relaxing week, whichever you want. Be prepared for any plans to go out of the window once you arrive due to options available to you.

Stayed here with my wife and adult daughter and two dogs having searched for places with hot tub taking two dogs! Arrived to bread baking in the kitchen and log stove ready if needed. Spent first night eating in the Inn and was a quiz night and our team of three became a team of thirteen in the bar with the locals and we won! Cracking welcome from the staff and locals and great laugh. The rest of the week was in the hills with the dogs and mountain biking and returning to a hot tub - who cares about the rain! Idea of cooking went out of the window with good pub group and a welcome in the inn why make it hard - it was a holiday? Dogs were welcome in the pub, and most of all the cottage did not smell of dogs as in previous places we have stayed. Beds and linen great - you do not need to take anything as its all there - even Wifi to keep the kids happy on FB! Bedrooms were warm, log stove was easy to get to grips with. Overall a perfect break in a great location, make the most of the area and make the most of the tub and cottage on your return

The location of this property was absolutely perfect; a quiet single lane road within easy walking distance of a good pub serving real ale and great food, and an amazing shop. Above all, perfect for getting out onto spectacular hill walks without having to drive anywhere. The property was a perfect size for our party of two adults, two teenagers and two dogs, with enough space for older kids to have their own independence. Level of equipment was the best we have come across with absolutely everything covered. Hot tub was brilliant after a long walk in the snow covered hills. Can't praise this place enough. Basically 11/10 for location, views, space and equipment.

The Old Chapel was a lovely old building that had been very tastefully turned into welcoming holiday accommodation. It was very well equipped with everything you could need, including a wood-burning stove. The Hot Tub in the garden was wonderful, especially after a long hard day's walking in the Shropshire Hills. It is set in an extremely scenic spot overlooking the village, and within a very short distance of the local pub, which had a warm and friendly atmosphere - and also served excellent food. There was only a minor negative for me and that was the hand held shower in the en-suite bedroom, it was extremely difficult to regulate the temperature, but because there was another shower downstairs this was not a major problem.

Unless you have a book - a very big book - of superlatives - and I don't! - then this review absolutely won't do justice to this exceptional holiday let. It not only does exactly what it 'says on the tin' - but so, so much more. Four of us stayed at The Old Chapel for 4 days and nights in November. Whilst it is in our home county, it is, without a doubt, the most relaxing place we have ever stayed in anywhere in this world. All plans to walk, read books, do craft work etc fell by the wayside from the time of our arrival. I fear we were too idle even to take any pictures of the Old Chapel - such was our level of relaxation. Set in beautiful countryside, with lovely views - this was quiet and calm at its very best and we so loved that. Even the first frosts of the year were so beautiful to see. The whole property is beautifully furnished and equipped. There is nothing we needed that hadn't been provided - even down to a complete range of spices! I have never seen so many drinking glasses styles provided for every possible type of drink! Then the hot tub and the log burner - hence the girls saying 'I've gone to heaven'. Having planned meal menus and taken along foods to cook - it won't come as any surprise that, being so relaxed - we were beckoned and then seduced [several times] by the local pub - The Stiperstones Inn - for meals and drinks. A very friendly, community orientated, pub providing real ale and a menu range to suit all tastes and pockets. Really great hosts here in Phil and Lara - who's prime motivation is making your visit enjoyable and what you want it to be - and not their convenience and profit. We had beautifully cooked meals and so enjoyed them. The Sunday roast was quite exceptional. I can't speak too highly of this holiday let folks - many such reviews say something like - we'll be back. We went one better and booked the same weekend in 2015 after being there for less than a day such was our delight in this property and the almost magical relaxing effect it has. So don't pass this by folks - it's more than a gem. We made no where near the use we could have of the offerings of the property or the surrounding countryside - but came home rested, recharged and read to do December!

The cottage was one of the best stocked properties I have ever been in for a holiday. The standard of facilities and decoration were second to none. The Old Chapel is a beautiful and tastefully decorated building and the view is delightful, especially from the hot tub! Phil and Lara were very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed, including a fresh loaf of bread baking for us in the kitchen on arrival. The amenities are excellent and everything is kept to a high standard. We had a great week, and having the Stiperstones Inn on the doorstep a few minutes walk away meant that we didn't always have to cook for ourselves! Excellent food and booze in the pub. I would definitely return again and would also recommend the chapel to others. A great properly run by lovely people. Hope to see you again!

The hot tub was just fabulous, along with the stunning views. The log burner provided caveman TV in the evenings! Just splendid to chill and absorb the many features of The Old Chapel. The local pub, Stiperstones Inn, we liked and its regular customers are very friendly. We highly recommend eating here as the food was very good and excellent value. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding walks the breath taking views. We especially loved the mountain biking at Eastridge Woods. The downhills are awesome.
