Property Description

Holiday home
The Den is a wonderful, romantic holiday home in the farming village of Llaynbri, near Carmarthen in South Wales. The cottage is beside a boutique B&B on the owner's smallholding, where you will find cattle, pigs, sheeps, ducks, chicken and geese. You can even look after your own duck or hen during your stay, and collect their eggs. The cottage is set solely on the ground floor, with a king-size double bedroom that can be converted into a twin and an en-suite WC, as well as a shower room. There is an open plan living space with a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with woodburner. Outside there is off road parking for one car, an enclosed patio to the front and rear with furniture, and a lawned garden at the back with estuary views. In a great base for exploring South Wales' coastline, The Den is the perfect getaway for friends or couples.

If you're more of an adrenaline junky, the noise and excitement of Pembrey motor racing track is only a short drive away whilst culture-vultures can visit Dylan Thomas' Boat House at Laugharne or the plentiful castles, mills and craft centres in the region. Llansteffan offers a perfect base for a wide range of holidays and is a marvellous introduction to this glorious part of Wales.

From the moment we drove past the chickens and the ducks, and the cottage came into site, I knew we were in for a treat.. Our hosts greeted us on arrival and made us feel most welcome. The cottage was even lovelier and roomier, than in the photos. It was a real home from home, with loads of lovely touches. It is well laid out and very clean. The log burner warmed the place through, so quickly and made the stay such a treat and so cosy. The garden was huge, with some really comfortable garden furniture. But it is the view that is stunning, during the day and at night, that is the highlight. The photos can’t do that justice - it is mesmerising. The location of the cottage, means you can get to so many places. I cannot say how much we thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Den. We will be back!

A lovely Cottage set on a wonderful site, with outstanding views of the estuary and the surrounding landscape, and of the history within this area.. Fantastic size gardens both front and back. The accommodation was first class, and everything required was provided for, within a very clean environment. The ‘Host’s of the site were extremely welcoming, and it was a very pleasant experience to be fortunate enough to stay within such a perfect place. We could not have asked for anything more, as the weather was very good all week. A very refreshing break and I would recommend ‘The Den’ to anyone else to enjoy!

In a week when the weather was absolutely horrendous in Wales we had a fantastic time, which included shorter walks on the beach but longer stays in the tea rooms.. Laugharne was a place we visited a couple of times. After walking to Dylan Thomas's boat house along the beach path, viewing Laugharnes castle ruins we had a lovely lunch in Arthur's, and on another day, afternoon tea at the Owl and the Pussycat, both places very nice and reasonabley priced. Llansteffan the nearest place to the den had a lovely beach for walking Alfie our mini schnauzer. It also has a great bar/restaurant called 'inn at the sticks' with excellent food reasonably priced. A log burner and friendly staff made it a cosy comfortable place to eat. Also all the places I've mentioned are very dog friendly. Sian and Matt went above and beyond in making our stay at the den as nice as could be. With Welsh cakes on arrival and fresh eggs from their own chickens nothing was too much trouble, Sian thanks for everything we will be back to make the most of the beautiful views from the garden when the weather is better. Karen Dave and Alfie the mini schnauzer.

We enjoyed a lovely peaceful weekend at the Den.. Although the weather was very wet and windy we stayed in the cosy living room with our two dogs and relaxed in front of the lovely wood burner. The garden was huge and despite the rain the dogs loved the freeedom to run and also their walks around the big field at the end of the garden. The views are spectacular (once the rain cleared a bit to see them) and the cottage itself has everything you need to enjoy a “home from home”. A really enjoyable time was has by all.

Lovely, clean well equipped cottage. Two fantastic gardens that are totally secure...the dogs loved them. The view from the rear garden over the estuary to Laugharne is to die for!! There is a pleasant walk to the 'Farmers Arms'in the village which has a dog friendly bar. It's a few minutes drive to LLansteffan and the lovely beach, pubs and cafes.

The Den is perfect for couples with dogs.. The hosts Sian and Matt are very helpful and friendly, but not intrusive even though they live next door. The accommodation provides everything you could need for a very comfortable holiday. It is very tastefully decorated with every effort made to make it feel like a home from home. The view from the rear garden over the estuary is spectacular, and both gardens are secure and perfect for dogs. It's a nice walk in the evening down to the local pub, the 'Farmers Arms' for a drink or pub meal. It's also dog friendly in the bar area. We can recommend the Sunday carvery. LLansteffan is so handy, and has a lovely beach where we walked our dogs every morning. It is so peaceful, and you can see the ferry going back and forth to Ferryside. The beach isn't even crowded during the day, but dogs aren't allowed on the main part, only at each end...the guide was a little difficult to follow, even the locals were a little confused where the boundaries were. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our weeks holiday...so did our dogs, and I really cannot praise Matt and Sian enough.

Amazing view from a huge field of a garden that went with the cottage which was so very generously fitted out.. The peace was so welcome and the owners were so very helpful but not in your face in the least but left us to approach them if necessary. We were honestly thoroughly delighted with the property for our very happy and successful holiday. Wales is lovely. May be one comment would be helpful to others is advice to call in at Tescos in Carmarthen before arriving at Llansteffan as the village stores had very little to offer and was not open always.

Beautiful cottage with such lovely hosts! Very friendly and helpful couldn’t ask for nicer people. Arrived with lovely home made cake which was delicious! Very tiny detail was taken care of on the cottage and the garden was large and secure which was needed for my dog who loves to escape at any opportunity. Wild defiantly go back!

SION and Mathew are lovely and friendly people anything is no bother.. The cottage is just right. The gardens are good as when it was wet the dogs went in the front garden and when it was dry they run around the long back garden which was great when dry. A five minute drive and we were on the beach local shop the post office you can get by with but only open 8.30am to 2.30pm, a must to remember. We all had a lovely time us two adults and are two dogs, which got on with there two dogs

This place is a little piece of heaven. Out in the sticks but only a few mikes from lovely village with spectacular beaches. The info on the internet is 100% accurate but somehow doesn't do it justice until you're there, so perfect. We have just spent a week there with our two dogs (they didn't want to come home either!) Matt and Sian have truly thought of everything to make sure you feel home from home and it's impossible not to switch off and chill. They are the most genuine hosts who are there if you need them. We loved the views, the huge garden, the fabulous log burner which sadly had to light in August, the ability to walk to top of the drive for fresh eggs every morning but most of all the cosy feel of the Den. Can't wait to return.

One of the best cottages we've stayed in. Really cosy and the log burner was a joy to come back to after a long walk each day. Walks right from the cottage, we did the Pilgrim Trail and the Heritage Trail which took us along the coastal path and into woods. Really muddy but it was brilliant. Even had a paddle in the sea on Llansteffan beach (in our wellies!!) Will definitely be visiting this area again and staying at The Den as we spent a week here and didn't get to visit half the places we wanted. Fully recommend this cottage

Can't rate this lovely cottage enough.. will defo be back. Sian has thought of everything you could possibly need. Such a high standard of accommodation. I would rate this 10/10 Excellent all round.

The Den is a cosy cottage attached to the owners small holding. We had a most enjoyable peaceful week recharging batteries in this lovely cottages which is excellently appointed a real home from home with everything you need. The dog was in heaven with the spacious grassed garden and the bonus of other dogs to run with. The owners are a lovely and very hospitable couple who make guests most welcome. Beautiful views across to Laugharne and Dylan Thomas' Boathouse. The weather was kind to us which was a bonus. Llanybri is a small village with a good pub,The Farmers Arms, which serves interesting combination of Thai and British food both of which are good. Llansteffan has great beach and Billage Dhop which also serves great breakfast! We will most definitely return. Thank you to owners again hope to see you next year.

The perfect cottage for two people and a dog, Secluded garden with views over the estuary, farm animals galore. Our host welcomed us with cake and fresh farm eggs, It was spotlessly clean with very comfy beds. We had one chilly night so lit the cosy wood stove a curled up to watch the telly. Easy access to Lansteffan and Camarthen - lots to see and do in this area, especially castles and beaches !! I cannot recommend this place highly enough and hope one day to return.

We choose this cottage because we love the area and stopped in a Sykes property at Ferryside last year and were pleased with it. The Den was even better, fantastic views across the estuary to Laugharne, lovely clean cottage, smashing friendly couple who own it and half a secure field for our dog to run round in. Also secure front garden for her while we unloaded the car. The cottage itself is small but ideal for two, fully equipped and a welcoming slice of cake when we got there. An unexpected second toilet and small wash basin in the bedroom, very comfy bed and hidden wardrobe and television complete the bedroom. Kitchen diner, lounge fully equipped, all new equipment. Heating came on when temperature dropped which was welcome at night. Fresh eggs available from the hens and ducks on the small holding. There is also a campsite next door if anyone is interested in that. Owners were lovely and presented us with some eggs when we left.

The property is modern with quality furnishings and attention to interior design was good. Lots of hot water and a great shower! It was great to be able to park right outside the front door. The entire break was a lovely experience. Words to describe the location, views and the 25 minute wander down the lane to Llansteffan beach - idyllic and tranquil!

The Den is finished to a very high standard, it was beautifully decorated and all the fixture and furnishings were of high quality and everything in the cottage worked perfectly. The patio area and the garden were large, clean tidy and were both excellent for our dog Ruby to run around in and play, they were very safe for her as well. The owners, were excellent hosts, they were very friendly and helpful and they were very welcoming to us and Ruby. The cottage was exactly as described and the location was perfect for days out.

Y Den is a fantastic little cottage with all the amenities you need to make your holiday special. Matt & Sian the owners along with their two beautiful dogs were so friendly & welcoming to us and our dog Ruby. The log burner in the cottage was a lovely way to end the day. It was great to walk around their small holding seeing the pigs, chickens, ducks and geese. The Farmers Arms in Llanybri was a great place to eat, the Sunday Carvery is a must and they welcome dogs. I would highly recommend this cottage to stay in and Sian is a very good baker. There is plenty to do in South Wales with all the walks and seaside resorts.
