The Cottage Peak District National Park, Derbyshire

Lovely cottage, great views from the living room, secure garden for the dogs.. Central location to popular attractions. Only slight negative, the Hoover is not very good when you have 2 Large dogs, but im sure they use another one once customers have left, as it was very Clean on arrival

The location and set up were just what we wanted.. For our first week we also rented the next door Barn cottage for extended family which was also excellent. Very dog friendly.

The cottage was perfect in most aspects.. There was an issue with the shower but it was handled brilliantly by the hosts. The view was spectacular.

Great cottage to stay in with lovely views.. The location of the cottage was great as it was only a short drive away from places to visit. Cottage itself is very comfortable with a secure garden for the dogs along with a shared grassed garden too.

Cottage was situated well within 35 mile radius of attractions .. Dog friendly area with plenty of places to exercise , with a good welcome in pubs .

Such a beautiful cottage.. Very idyllic surroundings. The garden was full of daffodils and the view beyond was such an amazingly peaceful panorama of fields gently lilting up to hills in the distance. In the view from the sitting room there were no roads to be seen.Truly peaceful. I loved sitting and looking at this view. First thing in the morning there was a distinct sound of sheep which was so lovely as they were quite a distance away. From staying here we were able to visit a few highspots in the Peak District and absolutely loved Poole's Cavern.

The Cottage was clean and well equiped in a lovely setting.. Plenty of information and maps for sight seeing however although there was a pub in the village the nearest shop was in the next village a short drive away.The enclosed rear garden was good for our dog and there was also a field for her to run about.The only thing that was missing was any seating in the garden.

Lovely cottage, well situated within the Peak District.. The cottage overlooks a large field with stunning views which was perfect for our two dogs. Very clean and comfortable and would highly recommend.

The organisation was very easy and straight forward.. The cottage was ideally located and a very comfortable base. Being able to let our dog out in a safe place was a real bonus. From the back we had stunning views. But as the cottage was on the main road, there is naturally going to be some road noise. But it did not detract us from having a great break.

A really cosy and warm cottage in a great location.. Stunning uninterrupted far reaching view from The Cottage. Spiral stairs have a fixed gate at the bottom which was good to stop the dogs going upstairs. Also plenty of room to put a dog bed/crate in the living room. A real bonus was the field at the bottom of the garden which were allowed to exercise the dogs in. A fantastic holiday for both dogs and humans!

Cosy cottage - great location - just needs better shower

Cosy, comfortable cottage in an ideal location with stunning views.. Super dog friendly with secure garden and a large enclosed field to let them run wild. Catered for our every need and would definitely recommend and return.

A very pleasant stay in a comfortable, spacious cottage.. The oil fired central heating was great to come back to, being mid November. The location was good but just off a busy road. Absence of a hair dryer and grill pan were the only minor niggles.

This is a lovely cosy little cottage which is good value for money.. It is in a good location as a base for the Peak District (as long as you don't mind getting in the car). Very dog friendly, it was spacious and comfortable for my Husband, myself and our two dogs. There is a large field that can be used but this may be occupied by sheep as times. What possibly let it down slightly was the shower, not very powerful and the head height could not be adjusted and the double bed was creaky and uncomfortable (also seemed smaller than a normal double). However, we understand that the more luxury the facilities, the more the price goes up! One improvement I would suggest for the owners would be to provide more local information in the cottage about nearest shops/supermarket, dog friendly pubs etc. As phone signal is poor and there is no wifi this would be most useful.

The Cottage was lovely and tranquil and in a great position. The view from the cottage garden was amazing. We were made to feel welcome and it really was a home from home. To cap it all the weather was fantastic.

Liked the cosy, warm feel of the cottage. The fully equipped kitchen that made it easy to prepare family dinners. A delightful view greeted me as I opened the curtains each morning and I liked the proximity of some of the UK's most enchanting natural features.

A comfortable cottage ideally situated for walking and sightseeing. Views from the lounge are excellent. The owners are very friendly and helpful. All in all the cottage was not a disappointment, certainly recommend it to friends and family.

I had expected so much more from this cottage. When we arrived the cottage had been empty for a few days and felt very cold. I think it would have been nice if the heating had been on for a while to heat it through. It wasn't while the next day that it warmed through. The cottage does not have a freezer, so if like us, take food for the week ( no shops in village) you have a problem. We were lucky that some other rooms were empty and the owner let us use the freezer boxes at the top of the other fridges. The Cottage is very dog friendly. It has fabulous views from the back and a very large field that the dogs can run about. I had no complaints about that at all. The furniture in the lounge is past it and needs an immediate replacement. When sat on by the end of the evening you are 6 inches off the floor and have great difficulty getting back out of it. The kitchen has all you need and pots and cutlery are fine. Oven clean etc so it was very useable. Upstairs the bedrooms are adequate. Very clean and quite comfy. Not big, but you only sleep in them. The bathroom has a shower which again needs an immediate replacement. I have never known a shower to be still in any bathroom that you are expected to shower in. I would like the owner to have a shower there and say that they find it acceptable for guests. The cottage is very dark inside and the lighting very dim. The furniture is not helping the overall look of the property. The darkness hides a small lip between the kitchen and living area floor, unfortunately my husband stubbed his toes on it and broke one of his toes. Overall it is not the best property I have stayed in and wouldn't go back. I also think that there are much better area's. There is not even a shop. Nothing really of any interest here and having driven around saw far better places to stay where you don't have to drive to to start your walk. I have been very honest with this review and feel I can't recommend it

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting, it was peaceful with plenty to do and see.

My old friend and I stayed here for a week to have a relaxing holiday and to celebrate her birthday. The cottage itself is stone built, part of an old converted farmhouse, in the tiny village of Peak Forest in the Peak National Park. Inside, it is very simple and unspoilt, with stone flagged and wooden floors, a lovely wooden table and dresser, and all kitchen needs supplied, including tea towels, bin bags, cutlery, china, and pots and pans. There was a toaster, a microwave (we couldn't use it, being old school and not very tech-savvy!) , a very modern electric cooker and hob, and a fridge. The living room was compact but quite adequate for 2 people, with a large sofa and chair, and a TV. In the corner was a delightful curly cast iron staircase. Upstairs, there was a double room with a double bed, lovely large wooden wardrobe and dressing table, and a twin room with 2 single beds. The only downfall was the single bed I slept in was very creaky. The bathroom had toilet, shower and hand basin, and towels were supplied by the owner. The shower unit was not the best, we couldn't adjust the heating level and the shower head could do with replacing . . but it was adequate. Everything was spotlessly clean. The living room had french doors which led out the back onto a simple garden with table and chairs, and a view over the hills which was breathtaking. We spent many a morning looking out at the sheep which come right up to the stone wall of the garden. Incredibly peaceful at the back. There is a pub down the road in the village, and a supermarket in nearby Chapel-en-le-Frith. There are many walks and wonderful things to see within a short drive from the cottage, and the owner has supplied many leaflets and booklets to give you an idea of what to see. The cottage is dog friendly too, and although we stayed in the back part of the building, there are 2 other rental accommodations within the house. The cottage is centrally heated and warm. We had a lovely week, and I would recommend it to my friends. Perhaps one small downside, the road on which the cottage sits can be quite busy in the morning, and because of it's grade 2 listing, double glazing cannot be installed. Just a small thing really! Altogether a lovely place

The best thing we liked was the garden leading to the field beyond for dog walking. There were fantastic views over rolling hills at the rear. Had a wonderful week and would return in a heartbeat.

The Cottage was very comfortable, far enough off the road for road noise not to be a problem. It had a very pleasant position with good views over some lovely countryside. The Peak District is a very beautiful place with a lot of diverse outdoor activities available within a close proximity of the cottage.

An excellent cottage which provided a great base for exploring the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales. This was a cosy cottage which was perfect for the two of us and our small dog.

The cottage was warm, cosy and ideally situated to act as a base for us to go on day trips from. The view over the rolling hills was breathtaking. Everything you could want for a self catering holiday was provided including a comprehensive amount of information about local places to visit. We were very impressed and helped us to provide a lovely setting for a 50th birthday surprise.

We loved everything, The Cottage was lovely and the owner very friendly and approachable. Beautiful countryside. Was just not enough days to do everything, will definitely be back.

We particularly liked the scenery and the cottage's location to some stunning sights of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage is an ideal base for visiting the whole of the peaks. We would highly recommend this cottage to others.

This cottage, part of a converted farm complex, is well situated for a holiday in the Peak District. The gardens are enclosed and even our lively Patterdale terrier could find no way out. The view from the cottage is superb with rolling hills and sheep meadows. The cottage is well appointed although the lounge furniture is getting rather worn. We found the spiral staircase easy to use and the bedrooms were very nice. The owners who lived in the complex were very helpful and pleasant.

The Cottage was exactly what we wanted and we loved the fact that the back garden over looked beautiful farmland and we were able to walk our little dog there first thing in the morning. Everything we wanted to visit was a short ride away and all the local eateries we visited were friendly and the beer and food was excellent.

We loved the area of Derbyshire that we stayed in, the cottage was very clean and comfortable and was very dog friendly with enclosed gardens and lovely walks from the back gate.

The places we explored with our dog were very 'dog-friendly' - a trip down Blue John Caves - lots of 'dog friendly' eating places - a hike up Mam Tor and a 6 mile walk around Ladybower Reservoir certainly gave our Labrador dog plenty of excuses to sleep in!
