Stunning views, peaceful surroundings, great dog walks and very friendly owners, we had a lovely family break. The field nearby was superb for the dog too. Country walks are on the doorstep and it is fully equipped with a washing machine and dishwasher which are handy. Most places are dog friendly and the Corn Exchsnge pub is a fun place to grab a relaxing drink. Sugarloaf is a drive away and worth a visit as is the beautiful village of Crucywul Crickhowell with nice pubs and coffee shops.

Great location for exploring the Brecon Beacons.. The Coach House is set in magnificent grounds with easy access to a large field where you can exercise your dog. The property was cleaned to a high standard with plenty of hand sanitizer available. We really enjoyed our 4 day stay.

Warm welcome from owner Nicola and comprehensive explanation of running of cottage and what was required of us.. Comfortable, cosy, warm cottage. Comfy beds. Kitchen equipment more than adequate for our personal needs. Great central place for exploring the area, and numerous small shops around (also big Waitrose) to top up supplies, including coal, logs for fire. Would definitely consider returning for another stay, and to further explore the Beacons.

We found the property very comfortable.. The owner was helpful and indicated that we could use the field next to the property to walk the dog. The village of Gilwern was a lovely small village with several shops to provide extras for the holiday. It also was only a few miles from Abergavenny for more major shopping at supermarkets.

Possibly write the name of the accommodation near the roadside-maybe on the stone slab? Good to have the cupboard contents listed inside the doors. You know what is available and where best to put it after washing up. Maybe a new frying pan (one that has a flatter base). Lovely place to stay.

This is a gem of a property that ticked all the boxes for us.. It was private, quiet, in a perfect location, clean and very comfortable. This property is situated to the rear of the owner's lovely Georgian Manor House, but tucked away with sufficient parking for a couple of cars and has direct access to a patio and large garden which is screened from the main house by mature hedges and trees. Inside it is equipped with everything you could wish to have. The large open fireplace gives out plenty of heat and we were provided with a generous basket of logs which kept us going for a few days. The property is also very well centrally heated and you can control the temperature and timing of the heating to suit your needs. The large skylight windows in the bedrooms afford a great vewing of the night sky and stars on clear nights. Wi Fi signal was good, if you can't bear to be without your 'tablet' or 'smart phone'. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the absolute peace and quiet of the Coach House. Direct access to the Brecon Canal is only a 5 mins walk from the Coach House and we happily followed the tow path to llangattock on route to Crickhowell. The local shop and pub is just 10 mins walk away but is a steep walk back-up the hill, but nothing too strenuous . There is lots to do in this area. We will definitely be planning to come back to the Coach House next year.

We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful welsh valley. The coach house was just perfect for us, very very spacious, clean, so quiet and great for our cocker spaniel and four year old (whom both loved the garden) the location was superb for getting on our bikes and heading to the nearby canal for rides along to Crickhowell and Abergavenny for lunch, coffee and cake. We walked up sugar loaf and visit the big pit. We had dinner in the dragon and the bear (Crickhowell) both were great. We ate in too and with a fully equipped kitchen and large fridge freezer it made it easy work of it. The fire and sofas were so cosy, Just perfect for a little glass of red wine at the end of the day. Thank you Nicola for letting us stay with you, we hope that we get to visit again soon.

We stayed at this amazing location for two weeks in September 2017. The accommodation was superb, a real home from home. Very clean and tidy and well stocked with all that you could possibly need. The owner and family were the perfect hosts and were so helpful and attended to all our needs. Even our pet dog had a great time and enjoyed his stay despite his advancing years. If you are looking for a quite, peaceful, restful place to stay where you can unwind and relax in amazing surroundings with views to die for, then look no further. The helpful, friendly and accommodating host only enhances your time there. Enjoy.....we did!

We booked this property as it was near to our grandchildren's home and looked lovely in the brochure.On our arrival we attempted to make tea in the teapot which was full of mould. Mugs and plates were chipped. We then used the washing machine which turned out not to be working so we were left with wet smelly clothes.The owner did launder the clothes herself but the washing machine was out of action for the rest of the week. We asked the owner if it would be possible for our grandchildren to come to us for tea.She said that was fine and they could run around and play in the garden.Myself and my daughter in law were supervising them, as the patio at the back of the house is in a state of disrepair and dangerous and we were also mindful of keeping near to the cottage away from the main house in respect of the owners privacy.My two grandsons were playing football when we heard a voice shouting angrily directly at the children demanding they stop kicking the ball on the flower beds.This was apparently the owners mother . She made no effort to come and speak to us ,which I would consider an appropriate course of action. Both the adults and children were shocked by the tone and inappropriate nature of this .We are responsible people and would never allow the children to do anything destructive.We took the children indoors.This was humiliating and deeply upsetting for us all. The owner later came to apologize for the incident and her mothers behavior. We have stayed in many different cottages with different companies and have never experienced anything like this before.The final insult was the owner shouting through the kitchen window the next morning asking us were we going as she had asked the cleaner to come early at 8.30 as we had said we may be leaving early!

Arrived late but that wasn't a problem, the lights were on and a warm welcome was awaiting. Milk in the fridge, fire wood ready to burn, fresh towels and above all else - hot water in abundance! Couldn't believe the amazing views we were greeted with on our first morning. Overlooking The Blorenge, even on a wet, dull morning, was still spectacular. Nicola greeted us with a warm, friendly smile and lots of local knowledge and a genuine desire to ensure we enjoyed our stay - it was my Birthday whilst we were there and she left a beautiful bottle of red in the kitchen for us. Would definitely recommend this beautifully well equipped cottage to anyone who is looking for a relaxing home from home vacation. It's also pet friendly which was simply the icing on the cake for us. Thank you Nicola for letting us stay in your amazing Coach House.

This cottage is set in a very quiet area of Gilwern and yet very near to all amenities. The cottage was rustic, spacious, comfortable and had a well equipped kitchen. Three girlfriends and I decided to have a long weekend away from our respective husbands and climb a hill. We chose Wales, and randomly came across this little gem of a cottage, nestled near the black mountains and a perfect home away from home. The sitting room and kitchen were huge and the utterly lovely hostess had laid out hundreds of leaflets for the various activities near by. We went to the sugarloaf vine yard, climbed sugarloaf mountain and visited a lot of local pubs! The cottage itself is a stunning converted barn on the grounds of the main house which, before arriving, I was a little concerned about but it was more than fine; the family very much kept themselves to themselves (until we ran out of sugar - a quick text and 2 mins later there was a knock at the door - sugar! Really sweet of her and very accommodating) and we felt comfortable enough to have a picnic and a BBQ in the garden without feeling like we were in their way or vice versa. Truly lovely find and very reasonable in price, highly recommended.

We chose Gilwern as we have previously visited the area and always planned to go back. We arrived and were given a warm and friendly reception by Nicola. Nothing was too much trouble. The property is brilliant, lots of space and a bedroom with a balcony and views to die for out across the Usk valley to Sugarloaf and the Black Mountains. The property is sited about 1 mile from Gilwern centre which has all the basic amenities - minimarket, petrol, pubs, newsagent, pharmacy, doctors surgery and even a chip shop. Just down the road is the town of abergavenny with a superb range of food and other shops as well as several supermarkets. Arrange a visit in September to coincide with the abergavenny food festival. Gilwern sits on The Heads of the Valley road so access to Cardiff, Swansea, the Brecon Beacons and Brecon town, the Forest of Dean and the Black Mountains is simplicity itself. If driving is not your cup of tea then there is walking in all directions and of all standards on the doorstep. The Brecon Beacons Horseshoe is a challenging walk and again only about 40 minutes drive to the start. There is even the Monmouth and Breckon canal with towpath a few hundred yards down the lane. Industrial archeaology abounds with Blaenarvon Iron Works (World Heritage site), Clydach gorge and iron works and Blorenge Mountain and its network of tramways and quarries all within 10 miles. We loved every minute of our stay. The only downside is that the local pub is at the bottom of the hill that leads up to the Coach-house, alright going, a challenge for the return journey. Crickhowell and its lovely kitchen shop is very close and we also visited Cardiff by train from abergavenny. Location was beautiful, lovely and private, with great views. Garden was really nice and owner very relaxed and allowed us freedom and flexibility with our dog. Layout of property was great and was very warm and cosy. Lots of nice walks nearby.
