Divine Derbyshire stay! ! The Byre was beautiful. Extremely well appointed & spotlessly clean. It far exceeded our expectations and the hosts, Brian & Julie were a pleasure to deal with. A very warm welcome & on hand if you had any queries etc. Our little Westie needed the vets whilst away & they were very kind & caring. Would thoroughly recommend staying in this lovely property, in an idyllic village surrounded by gorgeous countryside. Thank you & we hope to be back some time!

We had a wonderful week at The Byre.. It is so well looked after by the owners - beautifully clean and comfortable and with everything you need. We ate in a few times but also found lots of lovely places nearby. It's very well situated and we visited Ashbourne, Derby, Barton under Needwood Marina, Uttoxeter and lots of pretty villages. If you choose to stay here you will not be disappointed.

A beautifully decorated, immaculate property with all the home comforts you could wish for. You can sit on the private patio overlooking rolling countryside and watch the sun set. The owners were helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Easily accessibly for many of the Peak District's villages and attractions. Would highly recommend staying here - Fabulous place.

This cottage was everything we hoped for and more.. Our hosts were welcoming and very friendly, but also left us to enjoy our break without intrusion. The little extras they left us were much appreciated. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped, and in a wonderful quiet location overlooking the countryside, and still in easy reach of nearby Ashbourne which is a lovely town to visit. Overall we had a great time and will certainly be back! What better compliment can we pay.

The cottage is lovely and the owners are extremely friendly, helpful and generous. It is located on a reasonably quiet narrow country lane so sleep quality is great, as are the comfy beds. It's a great location to explore the Peak District from either by car or to go for a walk. The animal rescue farm nearby is of interest, and the owners welcome visitors. All in all the owners gave us a holiday week to remember and the hard work they are putting in will only add to the excellence of the place.

The Byre was furnished and presented to a very high standard and we received a warm welcome from the owners. It was a perfect place for three of us plus a dog. It's in a rural location, with lovely views from the front of the cottage, yet a short walk down a wonderfully quiet lane in either direction takes you to one of two pubs, both serving good food. It's in a convenient location for exploring the area, just south of Ashbourne. We're looking forward to returning next year.

The Byre is situated on a narrow quit country lane near the village of Hollington and is a very nice barn convertion adjacent to the owners cottage. Brian & Julie have done a great job renovating the area, along with other members of their family, and continue to make improvements, which are in no way intrusive to any "rentees" such as us. The cottge as lovely views of the countryside with sheep grazing in the adjacent field and a nosey male Alpaca looking in from over a far fence of the animal rescue farm next door. The owners of the rescue farm welcome you to visit and see their animals. Brian & Julie are wonderful, friendly and helpful hosts and even gave freshly layed eggs and newly picked raspberries and also leave some welcome goodies for arrivee's. The cottage is immaculate, very clean, finished to a high standard. While the reception for mobile phones is not very good, a downside dependent on your view point, it is the norm for these type of areas, the wi-fi is great. The cottage is an excellent base for exploring the area with Carsington Water well worth a day out. The Red Lion in Hollington does very nice food and drink at reasonable prices while for something more adventurous but more expensive try the Saracens Head in the village of Shirley. Shirley is about an hours slow walk from The Byre. This type of review is supposed to give the con's as well as the pro's but the only negative thing I can see is that when we next decide to visit the Peak district The Byre will be booked solid, so I am cutting our own throats with this review, BUT, it is that good.

We liked the friendliness of the owners who lived nearby, the welcome was wonderful. There were great views and it was lovely to be able to sit outside in the beautiful courtyard garden watching the sheep and baby lambs in the field opposite. We have had many cottage holidays over the years, but The Byre was by far the best we have ever had.
