The Barn Cottage was warm and Brenda the owner was very welcoming after a long drive from East Sussex.. The wine and biscuits were a lovely touch. The lanes to the cottage are quite narrow and we suggest you reverse into the driveway to make it easier upon leaving the next morning to go on out and visit the surrounding area. The Howgill Fells can be seen from the drive and are stunning in the early morning and evening setting of the sun. The weather was not very kind to us on our week but there again we were in the North part of England. The lakes were stunning as always but Windermere was very over crowded and we couldn't believe how many visitors were going mask free. Our only niggles about Barn Cottage are that the king-size bed mattress is very very soft, if you suffer from bad backs at all use the double bed. The 3 piece suite is again very soft and we found it uncomfortable but are used to recliners at home( and we can't have everything when not in our own home) . Also a few baking trays in the kitchen would be helpful. This area is absolutely beautiful and Barn Cottage is a lovely place to stay if those few niggles were looked into.

A marvellous rural setting, surrounded by the Fells, yet close to the delightful Sedbergh, with easy access to the Lake District and the western Yorkshire Dales.. The house itself, a converted barn, oozes character and is well equipped, with two good sized bedrooms, an excellent kitchen and the bonus of garden furniture and an admirable TV with plenty of channels to keep you entertained. A particular pleasure was the opportunity in the first week, blessed by gorgeous weather, to have breakfast outside, looking at the sheep grazing on the hillside and surrounded by the flora of a stylish garden. Altogether a delightful fortnight!

We had a really lovely short break at The Barn.. Brenda is a friendly and considerate owner, just next door but giving us space. The property is superb and brilliantly located for the fells, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Sedbergh is a small town, just a mile away - the dog enjoyed the lane into town. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break. Highly recommended.

Location, as you would expect, was fantastic.. Easy walking distance from the town centre with some great shops and cafes. Very civilised in the area as most shops had toilet roll for sale (coronavirus issue). After a long days walking the best thing about the cottage was the Aqualisa power shower, very welcome! Also the log fire gave a very warming effect throughout the cottage (once I got the hang of lighting it) as in March it could still be chilly.

Lovely barn in a beautiful location, lovely and warm especially when wood burning stove was lit, unfortunately weather terrible and we left early.. The only thing we thought was missing was the shortage of dishes, such as basins, casserole dishes, presentation dishes for table.

Nice barn conversion in ideal setting.. It has a rural feel but within walking distance of the town. Brenda, the owner next door, welcoming and cottage very warm. A bit more cutlery would be useful.

I take my elderly parents away each November for a relaxing break.. I also take my dog. One of the essentials for our visit is SKY TV, as it is dark early in November and my parents like to relax and watch certain programmes (the rest of the year they look after their 3 grandchildren under 6 years of age). There was clearly some issue with the TV. I was told it had SKY Movies by the owner. We could only get 1 movie channel on (Sony TV), and about 8 channels in all, so we were extremely limited. The owner didn't seem overly fussed about sorting this out promptly, and told us SKY were coming to fix it the following week, as we were leaving the cottage at the end of the holiday. I also mentioned to Sykes Cottages and they couldn't have been less concerned in my opinion...I expected better. I treasure these holidays that I provide for 2 very special people who aren't in the best of health at the moment, and it was tarnished somewhat by lack of action or interest on the part of Sykes in particular. I'm frustrated in Sykes and their snarky "what do you want to happen" questioning to me. How can I answer when I don't know the options? I am frustrated that I didn't receive the experience I paid for. The cottage was lovely and pretty much everything was there which was needed. The shower is awesome! The owner was lovely and I don't mean it to be a criticism of her.

Beautiful property with everything you could need included.. Lovely and warm property with the added bonus of a log burner. Super comfortable beds and lovely large shower. Excellent location for walks along the river and into the Lovely village which has shops and pubs within a mile. Very friendly owner who is not intrusive but there should you need anything. Ideal location for exploring the Dales and the Lakes. Would definitely recommend this property

The barn was a delightful place to spend our weeks holiday.. It was very clean and comfortable and Brenda the owner, made us feel very welcome. It is not far from the Lakes so we spent our holiday between the Dales and the Lakes. Sadberg is a very pleasant place to visit with a few quirky shops and some lovely cafe's. I would highly recommend the Barn to any one who wants a nice quiet holiday within reach of some of the most beautiful countryside . We will be going back next year.

The Barn is a well equipped cozy barn.. Sedbergh is a hidden gem, between the Lakes and the Dales. An old fashioned small market town with a great variety of traditional shops and lovely walks all around. Plenty to do within 30mins drive, but if you want to relax and enjoy the countryside, you can park your car on arrival and not use it for the whole stay!

A super cottage with a very friendly welcome from the owner.. We hope to return not only because The Barn is a lovely place to stay but, due to the 'Beast from the East' also paying a visit, we couldn't get out to explore the area! Hard to think of anywhere nicer to be snowed in and the wood burner kept us really warm.

A very nice property.. Only drawback was the extremely narrow lane leading up to it and awkward angle to get into the property. This should be mentioned before people book.
