What a disappointment! Where do I start...! The lodge was not cleaned to an adequate minimum standard. Thick dust everywhere that clearly has been there for some time. We have photos to prove. Dust mites galore! Clearly no cleaning of kitchen cupboards and areas in kitchen. Some kind of nocturnal animal/rodent living in the cavity wall and floorboards kept me awake at night. The owner is saying it is a bird!!!! Never heard of a nocturnal bird living in the floorboards! Perhaps if I wasn't kept awake from the stench in the ensuite bathroom I might have slept through, that way not reporting hearing scratching in the walls and floorboards. Stench from bathrooms varied from strong overpowering sewer smell followed my strong smell of damp! We were also caught up in the dispute with the owner and her ex-partner who owns the land her lodge is on. Wooden barriers were put up to prevent us parking whilst we were present in the lodge. The hostility could be clearly felt, this is not a healthy environment for anyone, let alone my young children. The owner confirmed we would get some money back as she agreed our stay had been poor (although didn't agree with all of our complaints) and asked us to provide a statement to her solicitor about her ex husband. The owner was only concerned about seeking revenge on her ex partner not about dealing with our complaints. When asked her to confirm how much will we get back she has now confirmed she will not be giving us anything. Please do not be fooled by this women. We left this property early as it was horrendous! All of our clothes have had to washed, even though we didn't wear them all, as they stink from the damp from the lodge. The owner is not interested in honest feedback, do not be fooled by her!

I have just spent a week with my daughter and dog here. Linda the host was so lovely and accommodating. I couldnt have asked for more and nothing was to much. The accommodation had everything you need and more and there are lovely little extras that I didnt expect. I am definitely booking again as the local residents are also very friendly and give you such a warm welcome. The area is perfect its a 15 min drive to Whitby but there's a lovely bay a couple of mins away and amazing walks. :-)

Absolutely fabulous holiday me hubby and puppy. Linda a great host, and the lodge was lovely a home from home a great place to relax the hot tub and sauna were an every day must (even in the rain),set on a small farm the pup was fascinated by all the animals. The local pubs were great Badger and hound (eating pub)and we loved the banter in the Brown cow all dog friendly . We visited Whitby bit too busy for the puppy, but loved our daily walk down to Runswick Bay beach .. really did not want to come home already looking forward to going again .

The Lodge was lovely. There was everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The owner met and greeted us ensuring we had her number if we needed anything. The Lodge is situated on a farm and is within a small static caravan park. We understood most of these mobile homes were owned but most seemed empty while we were there. We were able to park directly outside the lodge but it was tight getting in and out. The hot tub was lovely, it's situated to the rear of the property on wooden decking with a large fence and trees to enclose this area. There's a wooden hot with a sound system and infra red sauna. The Lodge is very modern and well furnished. I have never seen so many cushions. I had a mobile signal (vodafone) and there's WiFi The tv had Netflix so kept my Grandson busy. There are tv's in the bedrooms should you want to use them The shower in the master ensuite is fab. The best shower I have ever used and there's an abundance of fluffy white towels There's nothing here to not like. There are goats, sheep, chickens and rhea and again children love them The local pubs are The Badger and Hound, you need to book because they were turning people away who hadn't booked even though we never saw the restaurant even half full, they mustn't have the staff to cope and the staff on duty seemed stressed The food was ok and average priced The other pub is The Brown Cow sorry we didn't eat here it looked a bit more of a drinkers pub than an eating place Try The Ellerby Country Inn, 5 mins drive away and a lovely place. Nice staff, clean, just spot on and excellent food at a very reasonable price

This is the second time we have stayed at the lodge. The lodge is set in a very peaceful location and a great base for all the North Yorkshire coastal resorts. Set on a small holding, Linda is an absolutely fantastic host. Linda took our daughter around to meet the farm animals and let her feed the lambs and collect and keep the chicken and Rhea (yes Rhea) eggs - which made fantastic scrambled eggs! It made my daughter's holiday! The beds are extremely comfortable - which for us is an absolute must. The hot tub and sauna were the icing on the cake - lovely and relaxing. When it came to the end of our short stay we didn't want to leave!

We was a group party of 4 ranging from late 40's up to late 70's. When we saw this advertised it was just what we was looking for. It was all on one level as we needed it to be disabled friendly. We had built up a picture in our heads by the write up. Unfortunately it did not match what we had built up. Yes it's on a farm . We had built a picture of a farm in our heads and a small camp site which it stated . But on arrival it didn't match . It is a very small farm with a few animals chickens goats ect. But we was not expecting to be looking at a caravan as our view . The pictures that we could see , must have been when it was first built . The lodge it's self . Looks nice but there are a view problems inside . The washer dryer was not working but they had put a dryer in for us to use . The only problem was there was no plug socket and we did not have an extension lead to be able to use it. The was some work being carried out on the caravan next door on the decking . So there was wood and tools left and found out the next morning the workmen had left his electrics plug into the outdoor socket on the lodge and the electrics out in the rain all day and night . We unplugged the next day when we found them. The bathroom that is en suit had water constantly running all day and night in the loo system. And after day 2 there was an awful smell coming from that bathroom. Also the shower is fab apart from when you get out the floor is wet from the bottom tray that need 're sealing. The main bathroom was fab supplied with towels and everything you need nice bath. Kitchen was ok nice things and dish washer . Only problem was the oven needed a clean as it smoked when you put it on. Front room was nice . Had nice tables and chairs , also nice home from home items . We found the sofa a bit worn and uncomfortable. Tv is on the wall , we found we all had sore necks from looking up at it . We had rubbish weather and ended up spending more time there than we wanted . The hot tub and sauna was great . My mother struggles to get in and out could do with a step , other than that it was great. WiFi must be too far away for now tv to work as signal kept dropping out . We did leave early due to the weather . Little things need sorting on this lodge they have some nice items in the lodge just need to sort a few problems out ..I have posted a view pictures of what u look at of the outside. For how much the lodge cost we expected better. Will add further pictures shortly

A lovely cabin with lots of extra and home from home comforts.. Very clean and the shower was lovely. Comfy beds and the decor was very tasteful. Only point on this is that would have preferred a welcome information folder with details of the internet password ( which did not work) and amenities out and about. Who to contact locally in case of emergencies etc... It would be good to know where to leave the key when leaving at the end of the week as was not sure of the procedure and where to leave it. We left very early due to a long drive home so did not know who to contact so early or where to leave the key. My son liked collecting the eggs but was only able to sample once in the week as the locals seem to have taken them very early. They are lovely and was a nice addition to breakfast. With regard to the booking however I felt when searching for a cottage specific with hot tub through Sykes I did not expect to have to pay extra for this upon arrival. The marketing on this cottage can be misleading so check the small print! It would be better to include in the overall price as the site can be very deceiving and an extra £70 does tap into spending money especially when you are a family and on a budget.

St Hildas Lodge was an excellent choice for our dog friendly holiday.. It was spacious, clean and everything needed for a very satisfying stay was provided. Linda, the owner, was very welcoming and was always at the end of a telephone if any help was needed, which it was not as everything went smoothly. Hinderwell itself had 2 dog friendly pubs (within 5 minutes walk from the Lodge) and both served a good selection of drinks and very good food. I would highly recommend this Lodge for a holiday and will definately return for another relaxing stay.

It's the second time we have been and again thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.. The lodge is ideally placed for all the sights. The new sauna was a nice extra to the hottub. Linda made us feel very welcome, we loved the little extras, fresh eggs in the morning, fluffy dressing gowns and wine and candles when we arrived. We most definitely will be going back.
