The situation, the weather and the accommodation made for an excellent holiday..

The cottage was really nice.. All mod cons, a lovely convection cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. Over the bath shower. The bath was low enough to step in but I feel a grab rail would benefit. Two bedrooms basic, but hey what else do you need. The bedding was fresh and nipping clean and so soft. Beds comfy. The cottage was open plan. Sitting area had two settees with cushions and blankets. TV, and two very good coffee tables which came in handy. Patio windows leading to picnic table . Beautiful view of St.Michael's Mount. We could sit and watch the wind surfers or people taking leisurely walks along the promanard. When we arrived there was a pint of milk, tub of cream, scones and jam, which I thought was a lovely welcome, also dining table and chairs. Central heating plus electric fire. Dogs were allowed, my Shipoo loved it too. Especially the pub at the end of the road lol. Beside the pub was a café and gift shop. There was a caretaker a couple of times a week to assist with anything you may need, very friendly. Being next to the train line didn't bother us as trains stopped at about elevenish. Marazion is an ideal place to stay as it is not far from Landsend, St.Ives etc. Would recommend and hope to return next year.

The bungalow was very dirty, stinking mop left in bathroom .. Toilet seat not properly fitting and loose. Dirty sink trap . Floor sticky with urine. Beds , unexcetable, springs coming through the cover on double and both singles. Filthy floors , lampshades cobweb covered. Skirtings grubby. We did contact the owner and she replaced the double mattress, also the 2singles with albeit 2 old mattress. The oven smoked and set off the alarm ( which didn’t work properly) the oven could do with a deep clean. Just a better standard of housekeeping needed. It was disgusting.

We booked for a week, got in the bungalow an it looked at a quick glance ok ! We went out to eat that first evening went home to bed . The bed was diabolical, the mattress had springs poking through the material. As did the 2 single beds! The next day Sunday , I phoned the letting agent and then the owner who after heated conversation agreed to get new mattress. We had 3 nights on the original mattress’s . Eventually they were changed. The cleanliness is also a problem, it was filthy. Floors in the lounge area and kitchen mopped with the same filthy stinking mop as the bathroom. We could smell something awful and it was the mop . Lampshades with cobwebs in, skirtings grubby . Bathroom basin plug had lots of hair and muck attached to it. We were told by the owner it would be sorted whilst we were out , got back nothing done .

The property needs a very good clean.. It is very dusty and the bathroom quite dirty - the bath, toilet and sink were clean but there were dead flies on the windowsill (and in the kitchen), the back of the bathroom door was very dirty. All appliances in the property were clean and usable, everything else needs cleaning. The plug hole in the bathroom was disgusting!

Apparently the state of this property was a “surprise” to the owner and other reviews “good” could only find one which said “.....10/10”! We aren’t ones to head straight to trip advisor to leave any reviews of any kind, this place however fully deserves one! After driving 6 hours from the North we arrived to a property that we weren’t allowed into until 15:00 “as it was being cleaned” we think not!! For a start, the actual property vs the one in all the pictures online - quite different (would have been willing to overlook if it wasn’t so filthy) the facility is well overdue some updating, the toilet seat in particular. Lazy maintenance. We suggest the lady who owns this property and was surprised to hear our complaint sack the maintenance and go inspect it for herself. Within minutes of arriving, Sykes were told that we were not staying and that we needed an alternative. We would have preferred to stay in the car! Thankfully we are now settled into a different property within 5 miles from original (must say though, St Ives much nicer than this area, St Michael’s Mount is pretty but that’s about it) determined not to let this spoil our holiday we will leave you with some pictures of Shoreline and what we found in less than 5 minutes. Would recommended Sykes however, who were great and very efficient. Pictures do not quite capture the filth, trust us though - the toilet seat alone was a dealbreaker.
