The cottage was clean and tidy with a well equipped kitchen.. The garden was huge which was great for our toddler & dog. The owners were friendly and helpful and were just next door which was useful if you needed anything. The utility area was handy as well as the washing machine (many places don’t have one so we really valued it!). The only thing I would say is that there isn’t anywhere to walk from the cottage, as the roads don’t have paths and aren’t really safe to walk on with a young family and dog (narrow roads with blind bends). This was a shame as it would have been nice to explore the area on foot. I wouldn’t say this as a negative comment as it can’t be altered, it sort of is what it is! But rather I felt I should point it out to make other families aware who book in the future. We spent quite a lot of time in Bude, which is lovely to walk around, so there are plenty of places to go nearby - you just have to drive to get there!

An absolutely beautiful cottage in a lovely location.. Close to Bude and the three local beaches but in a quiet and peaceful area. Spotlessly clean. The owners were extremely welcoming, meeting us on arrival and giving us advice on where to go in the local area. We were delighted and touched to be welcomed with a cream team for the family after a long journey to Cornwall. The cottage is spacious (plenty of room for a family of 4 and labrador), with lots of light, a lovely enclosed garden and a fully stocked kitchen. We couldn't fault it and would have no hesitate to book again.

The cottage is well located to explore the sights, towns & beaches of the North Cornish Coast.. It was extremely clean, comfortable and very well equipped with every possible need thought of. There is a lovely secure private garden for children to enjoy in a peaceful location. We would definitely recommend this cottage which was good value for money.

There was everything one could possibly need in the kitchen, including utensils for home baking if you wanted to.. Although the double bedroom was fairly small, the bed was very comfortable. The garden area was a reasonable size and we had a fantastic view of the stars at night as there is no light pollution, a wonderful treat for town dwellers. The owners were very friendly and supportive. The cottage was very warm and comfortable. Amenities are a car ride away, but this is a great place to stay if you like a quiet place with only the sound of songbirds and sheep to disturb you. We would recommend Shepherds Rest for a comfortable, quiet holiday stay.

This holiday home has it all, there is nothing you have to ask for, everything is provided.. Yes the owners may live next door but they never bother you unless they see you out and about and may just stop for a chat. The home is lovely, clean and tidy and all needs are catered for when it comes to comfort. Apart from food obviously nothing is needed for the kitchen as everything from dishwasher tablets to Fairy washing powder are provided. The shower is amazing and the beds are really comfy. The garden was ideal for our dog and was secluded.. Yes this house is also on a working farm as the owners are the farmers, but you would never have known as there is no disruption to the peace and quiet you get here. It is ideally situated to visit Bude which is about 7 miles away and the surrounding area. About 4 miles away is a little place called Crackington Haven we used to take our dog there at the end of the day so that she could have a swim in the sea and the big stream leading down to the sea. This home is lovely if you are looking for a quiet get away but not a million miles away from the beach and beautiful countryside. The owner does provide you with a Cornish Cream Tea on arrival, but I was not sure if bread rolls were part of that tea instead of scones which is what we had !! But it really was a lovely thought after a long journey from our home. All in all would we stay here again ABSOLUTELY.

A truly delightful barn conversion, most comfortable and absolutely everything you need, certainly a home from home.. Also a most welcome cream tea waiting for us on arrival. Near the beautiful beaches, especially Bude and Bodmin Moor. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, would thoroughly recommend this holiday home.

Peaceful, cosy, clean and nestled away from the rat race.. We really re-charged our batteries and didn't need to go far for the beach. Our dogs loved the enclosed back garden and we loved the complimentary cream tea that our host had provided for us. Highly recommend this cottage if it is peace and tranquillity you crave.

We have rented several cottages from Sykes over the years, we had a bad experience with another company last year due to booking late.. l must say this is a gem of a property and will not disappoint, We found it clean and with every possible facility you require, from comfort to a large screen television with dvd player, a 2nd television in the kitchen diner, Wi-Fi and a quite secluded garden fantastic for the dogs. The owners were friendly and always helpful this is a property l would recommend to anyone without hesitation. 1st class (we will be back)
